I am 33 years old and having many gall bladder stones. Surgeons say the only option is to remove the gall bladder But I myself dont belive that any organ in the body is useless and I am against the removal of any part of my body. And I belive a lot in Homeo medicines . It was a superb experience by myself. Can I get a reply from an homeopathy doctor please? Would be very thankful for the same.

Are you experiencing any symptoms from the gall stone? if your gall stones are without symptoms you do not require surgery you can watch your gall stones by doing usg every 6 months to consult doctors immediately if you have any symptoms like right upper abdominal pain, repeated vomiting etc. Chances of complications gall stones without symptoms are around 1% when you develop those complication surgery is required. Otherwise surgery in gall stone without symptoms is not recommended.

Pl. Give me a permanent remedy for ULCERATIVE COLITIS for which Iam taking MESACOL 400 MG FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
It is a remitting and relapsing disease and the medication like Mesacol is the only remedy If your symptoms are severe, you will need to be hospitalized to correct the effects of dehydration and malnutrition that diarrhea causes. Surgery is necessary when there is massive bleeding, chronic and debilitating symptoms, perforation of your colon, or if there is a risk of cancer. A barium enema and a colonoscopy can detect these serious problems. Surgical options include proctocolectomy with ileostomy (the most common surgical treatment) and ileoanal anastomosis.

Waist size is important because excessive fat get deposited there. No vitamin is needed for normal person. Fat free diet after gall bladder surgery should be taken. Non veg diet has to be restricted.

* firstly take your meals with proper chewing and do not be hurry in taking meals to avoid acidity after meals. * take less spicy food & avoid chilly in meals. * try to avoid stress. If you feel unable to avoid stress & extra thinking then follow meditation techniques. Sit in a calm & well airy room & do long breathing. Concentrate on your breathing. Do it for atleast 3-5 minutes twice a day. You can do anulom - vilom pranayam in the morning. It calm down your mind and lower the gastric irritation. * put 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds (saunff) in a glass of water in night and drink this water in morning everyday to cure gastric problem. * take few leaves of mint (pudina), coriander leaves (dhania), pinch of rock salt & pinch of black pepper. I am a diabetic type 1.I have read somewhere about pancreas transplant in India. Can you suggest me if it is possible or not. My age is 29.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. For treating diabetes pancreas transplant is considered to be a permanent cure. But the this is one of the very difficult procedures, not yet very commonly done. Secondly availability of live pancreas is the most difficult problem. It still a very experimental procedure, may take years to become a reality. There are experiments going on for stem cell generated pancreatic cells formation, but still at lab level. Thanks.

Abdominal Pain & When To Consult A Doctor

MBBS, MS - General Surgery , DNB (General Surgery), MNAMS (Membership of the National Academy), Fellow HPB Surgery & Liver Transplant (Singapore) , FICS - RPSLH - RPSLH
Gastroenterologist, Hyderabad
Abdominal Pain & When To Consult A Doctor

Abdominal pain can be triggered by a number of factors. Sometimes, it's mild enough to be overlooked while at others, the pain can be debilitating. Most abdominal problems start with the same symptoms and hence the cause of this pain can be a little difficult to pin point. In many cases, the location of the pain can help understand the factors that are triggering it.

Generalized pain can be simply be triggered by indigestion. On the other hand, it could also be a symptom of a number of illnesses like irritable bowel syndrome, appendicitis, viral gastroenteritis and intestinal obstructions etc. However, the former are more common. This type of pain resolves itself without medical intervention.

In other cases, abdominal pain can be localized to the upper or lower abdomen on the right or left side or in the centre of the abdomen. This sort of pain is usually sporadic and comes and goes with great intensity. In most cases, this sort of pain is a symptom of a serious problem and should not be ignored. One of the most common examples of localized abdominal pain is the pain caused by appendicitis in its later stages. Severe pain that is located just above the centre of the belly button could be a sign of pancreatitis. A burning sensation and severe cramps in the center of the stomach could point towards stomach ulcers that could cause perforations if left untreated. Other causes for this type of pain include endometriosis, ovarian cysts, angina, kidney infections and a spleen infection.

Mild stomach pain whether localized or general can be relieved using home remedies and does not often require medication. However, if the pain is severe or if it comes on suddenly, you must immediately consult a doctor. Another reason to consult a doctor is if the pain persists for more than 24 hours. If the pain is accompanied by black or bloody stools or vomiting and nausea, do not ignore it. Black stools are often an indicator of the presence of blood in the digestive tract. Abdominal pain that worsens with movement or is tender to touch is also something that should be shown to a doctor. Other reasons to consult a doctor are abdominal pain with persistent vomiting following meals and unexplained weight loss and a loss of appetite.

The bottom line is, that when it comes to abdominal pain, it's better to consult a doctor and be told that there's nothing to worry about rather than self medicate and wait for it to worsen.

Homeopathy Treatment for Appendicitis

MD - Homeopathy, Masters Degree of Homoeopathy
Homeopath, Mumbai
Homeopathy Treatment for Appendicitis

Appendicitis is a chronic or acute medical condition where the appendix gets inflamed and causes severe pain.  If left untreated, the condition can prove to be fatal. The appendix is a small tube shaped sac at the end of the large intestine. In humans, it is typically not known to have any functional value although some studies suggest that it helps digestion by creating a conducive environment for friendly bacteria. Surgical removal of the appendix is suggested as the most common treatment for the ailment.

One of the key causes of appendicitis is believed to be the partial or complete obstruction at the mouth of the appendix. The common causes of obstruction include accumulation of fecal matter, worms, enlarged lymphoid follicles, trauma or tumors. It is also possible that an infection in the stomach could have extended into the appendix.

Appendix is commonly detected because of its progressive worsening pain in the stomach which narrows down to the lower right side of the abdomen is called Mc Burney point. Half of the patients though do not have this typical symptom and instead come in with a complaint of gastroenteritis, urinary tract infection or even a kidney stone. Further blood tests, urine tests and MRIs or ultrasounds are used to pinpoint the area causing the pain.

In most cases of advance appendix, a surgical intervention is necessary. The type of surgery will vary on a case to case basis.

Homeopathy can be tried in early stages and is especially useful to treat chronic and recurrent cases. It works with the principle of 'like cures like', which means that the elements that cause the problem are a key to its solution too. It employs a holistic healing methodology getting rid of the signs and symptoms and restoring complete health. While other treatments focus on curing the 'problem', homeopathy also deals with the basic reason of the problem and the individual's susceptibility to it. Here are some of the remedies:

  1. Arsenicum album: This is used when the appendicitis has resulted in sepsis and the patient also suffers from diarrhea.
  2. Belladonna: This is an early stage remedy for cases where appendicitis is accompanied by headache, fever
  3. Bryonia alba: This is an effective remedy when the pain aggravates with movement.
  4. Colocynthis: This is a recommended remedy when the patient experiences spasmodic or entwining pain, which worsens with indigestion. Applying warm pressure over the area helps in such cases
  5. Rhus Tox: This remedy is also called the 'homeopathic knife' to treat appendicitis. It is used when the pain is constant and the patient is never free from pain.

To customize the selection of the remedies according to your specific symptoms, it is best to consult with a practitioner.
