Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. My son 11 years old, his neck looks very big, every unknown person also can identify that he has thyroid by seeing his neck. He is with hypo thyroid. His goiter is very big in size. Is there any chance to do the operation, or any way to reduce that size of neck. His thyroid is in normal condition, his personality also looks big. Looks like above the age. Also could you pls suggest the diet for him. What are the food items can avoid. He frequently have cold and couf, breathing also he will take very heard. Pls guide.

Avoid oily fried and fast foods avoid sweets icecream processed foods ask him to do exercises or play some game give him balanced diet fruits vegetables etc surgery is not advised because surgery of neck is risky safe ayurvedic treatment available for hypothroidism consult me through Lybrate.

Do hot fomentation twice daily. Postural correction- always sit with a small pillow at your low back. Sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises like bridging and bhujang asana x twice daily. Sleep on your back with a pillow under your knees or on your sides with a pillow between your knees. And get vit d levels checked. Go for regular walks follow 30-30 rule when at work. After every 30 min of work. Do 30 sec of stretching or stand and walk a bit.

If your pain is there for many years then it is chronic pain. Ice can be kept in the low back where you have back pain. It is suggestible to wear Lumbo sacral belt which would help you to build the abdominal muscle tone which itself would make you feel better. You can also wear MCR chappals which would help you to have less weight falling in the painful back.

There is coming an sound from bones of my arms and my neck is also paining. I think it is because of using mobile. My doctor gave me medicine called 'Supracal' but my pain did not stop. Now he is telling that it's normal.

Hi thanks for the query. Sound from the joints are normal if there is no associated pain. If the sounds are associated with pain better get evaluation for any joint diseases. If there are no evidence of inflammatory joint diseases please start on exercises for your arms and neck.

Do calf stretching exercise and hot fermentation with warm water and do gentle massage of heel apply pain relief ointment avoid long standing and rest must if it work then ok otherwise tk physiotherapy treatment you can use heel sole n do strength exercise.

Back pain needs restrictions in gymming and stiffness needs to be avoided. Some light exercises may be allowed which can be best demonstrated by your trainer or physiotherapist. Yoga however is better choice if you need flexible body and relaxed back muscles without backache. Herbals should be supplemented to look younger along with good, balanced, green diet.

If the cause of back pain persists, you should not restart. Causes could be muscular fatigue, spondylitis, trauma, disc problem etc. Pl rule these out by visiting ortho specialist. If no problem, pl apply muscle relaxants and orally take herbs n minerals to strengthen Asthi and Maansa Dhatu i.e. none and muscle. Pl consult privately for medicine part.

Causes and Symptoms of Muscle Contusion

Muscle contusion is a condition that is characterized by bruising in the muscles. It generally tends to occur in athletes who play a lot of contact sports. Repetitive blows in any part of the body may cause damage to the underlying muscle tissues. These blows may lead to internal bleeding, resulting in blood clot formation. The most common site where it occurs are the quadriceps.

The various causes of this condition are:

  1. Direct repetitive blows to a part of the muscle in contact sports such as football
  2. If you fall on a hard surface 
  3. It may also occur if the muscle comes in contact real hard with sports equipment like soccer balls

The symptoms of a muscle contusion are:

  1. You may experience swelling of the muscle
  2. Excessive pain
  3. Decrease in range of motion in the concerned body part
  4. It may lead to leaking of blood vessels
  5. You may also experience hematoma where a lump is formed over the affected spot
  6. Symptoms of broken bones, dislocations and fractures may also occur

Complications: This disorder may also lead to various complications such as compartment syndrome, which leads to compression of blood vessels resulting in pain. 

Treatment: The basic treatment for this condition is the RICE protocol which is rest, ice, compression and elevation. You should rest the muscle, then apply ice to the affected area to reduce the pain. You can also take NSAIDs (non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) to reduce the pain. In severe cases, the doctor may drain the lump surgically.

It is advisable to not return to your normal sports routine in order to allow the muscle to recover. If you carry on with your regular routine, it may result in further complications like the formation of scar tissue. You may undergo various stretching exercises to relieve the pain and make a gradual return to your normal sporting activities.
