This condition is called Eye strain, or asthenopia,in which the eyes get tired from excessive or intense use. It can be annoying, but it tends to disappear with rest. Although it’s not often a serious condition, eye strain could be a symptom of an underlying problem. Eye strain is known to cause fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and headaches Eye strain may lead to other problems, such as: • Headaches • Difficulty Concentrating • Irritability • Burning Sensation • Watery Eyes • Dry Eyes • Photophobia • Eye Pain IWhile reading for long, taking eye breaks for five minutes every hour can lessen the strain on your eyes. Simply closing your eyes for a few moments can also do wonders. Try standing up, moving around, or taking a short walk to help regain concentration.Regular eye exercises that involve focusing on different distances can help prevent future straining. Blink often. Blinking refreshes and replenishes your eyes naturally. If you are having trouble with blinking due to the dryness of your eyes, try using Homoeopathic CINELUBE EYEDROPS ( HAPDCO) 3 times daily.

What are the causes and symptoms of Myopia and how can a person improve his eye vision?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
What are the causes and symptoms of Myopia and how can a person improve his eye vision?
Hi, myopia, also known as near-sightedness and short-sightedness, is a condition of the eye where the light that comes in does not directly focus on the retina but in front of it, causing the image that one sees when looking at a distant object to be out of focus. It does not affect focus when looking at a close object. Causes: myopia occurs when the eyeball is too long, relative to the focusing power of the cornea and lens of the eye. This causes light rays to focus at a point in front of the retina, rather than directly on its surface. Nearsightedness also can be caused by the cornea and/or lens being too curved for the length of the eyeball. In some cases, myopia is due to a combination of these factors. Myopia typically begins in childhood and you may have a higher risk if your parents are nearsighted. In most cases, nearsightedness stabilizes in early adulthood but sometimes it continues to progress with age. Management: include the following for getting better vision: vitamins a, c, e, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. Dha is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for strengthening eye muscles: -begin by partially closing your eyes; the lids should only be halfway shut. After holding for 10-15 seconds, close your eyes very slowly. Take a few deep breaths to increase oxygen in the blood. -warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. -hold a pen at arm's length. Focus your gaze on the tip of the pen. Bring the pen closer to your nose at a slow and steady pace. Repeat this exercise 5-10 times. -concentrate your vision on the tip of your nose. Then shift your gaze to an object further away, either at arm's length or 20 feet away. Then shift your eyes back to the tip of your nose. Repeat this exercise 10 times. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Begin by look to the left-most position (without moving your head) and hold to stretch your eye muscles. Hold for 5 counts. Blink and return your gaze back to look straight in front of you. Then look to the right-most position with your gaze and hold for 5 counts. Repeat 3 times, blinking between each hold. Then, repeat this exercise looking up and then down. Do not forget about blinking. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing first and then reducing the power of your eyes (if the eye power is less). Take physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 1 month and instill euphrasia eye drops twice a day. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

Get to know about BLADE FREE LASIK , STANDARD LASIK , ADVANCED SURFACE PRK and PHAKIC ICLS . These are the techniques that can help you gain freedom form your glasses.

If you are using glasses, are 18 years or older , have to wear glasses and wish to seek treatment for your glasses , you need to read on.

Brief information about LASIK Laser Vision Correction

What does Laser vision correction do ?

Laser vision correction is a technique used for the correction of spectacle number being worn by the patient . This treatment enables the patient to see clearly without glasses.

Who are the likely candidates for laser vision correction ?

Patients of Myopia ( wearing minus glasses ) , Hypermetropia ( wearing plus glasses ) with or without astigmatism are suitable candidates for laser vision correction. In addition , the patient must have achieved 18+ age and his/her spectacle number must have remained stable for 6-12 months .

What types of eye glass numbers can be treated ?

We can treat :

(-) Minus numbers

(+) Plus numbers

& Cylindrical numbers

What are the different techniques for correcting eye glasses ?

Beyond using glasses and contact lenses , there are basically two different ways of correcting the number of glasses.

1. Laser Vision Correction popularly known as LASIK

2. ICL or Phakic Lenses

Are there more than one techniques of Laser vision correction ?

Yes , there are different techniques to correct glasses with Laser

1. PRK / LASEK / ASA

2. Microkeratome based LASIK

3. Bladefree LASIK

The choice of technique for a particular patient depends upon the suitability determined after assessing the various parameters of the eyes with Pentacam topography which tells us about the thickness of the cornea amongst many other details. Depending upon the number of your eye glasses and calculating it against the corneal thickness helps us deriving the technique(s) available for your eyes specifically .

Bladefree LASIK utilizes two different lasers for doing laser vision correction .

Bladefree Lasik workstation with the Femtosecond Laser on the left , the Excimer laser on the right and a swinging patient bed which shifts the patient between these two lasers.

What is ICL ?

If after detailed checking ,corneal thickness is inadequate to carry out Laser vision correction , then ICL phasic intraocular lens implantation is considered as the final frontier.

With the ICL , very high numbers can be corrected quite accurately. Here also we have to test the patient suitability for ICL implantation.

How long do I need to stay in the Hospital for Laser vision correction ?

For PRK you may need to stay for approximately 6 days

For Normal LASIK , approximately 3 days

For Bladefree LASIK , approximately 3 days.

Local patients can reside at home.

Unfortunately, changes caused by glaucoma are irreversible. Eye transplantation only helps those with corneal disorders. It does not apply in your case. Keep using the drops as increased pressure can cause pain at a later stage.

Hello, Bloodshot eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: Eye dryness Too much sun exposure Dust or other particles in the eye Allergies Infection Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. Other causes of eye redness include Colds or allergies, Acute glaucoma, Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. Management: - Try to rest your eyes if redness is due to fatigue or eye strain. No other treatment is needed. - Wash your hands, hold clean water in your hand, keep your eyes closer to the water and dip the eyes by blinking the eyelids frequently in the held water in hand. Repeat it for 3-4 times again. - Avoid watching T.V., working on computer or mobile, reading or frequently keep blinking your eyes to avoid dryness. Take frequent breaks in between. - In case there is itching, use a clean napkin or a tissue to wipe the tears and cleaning the eyelids gently. -Wear an UV-rays protected sunglasses while you are out in sun. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe’s Belladonna 30 and Euphrasia 30 - both thrice daily for 4 days. Use Euphrasia Eye drops twice daily. Revert back thereafter.

Hi, it takes little more time by our body to get adjusted to any new habit or an environment. So, with the eyes. Keeping wearing them regularly (you may increase the time duration and frequency in a week gradually) so that after months you and your eyes both will get habituated to each other.

Watering is not due to pressure on eyes, your power of eye glasses might have changed so get your refraction done & if needed change your glass, Sometimes watering is also due mild infection, so you can use antibiotic eye drops 4-5 times for few days but you should use some lubricating eye drops 4-5 times regularly, if get no relief consult local ophthalmologist.
