I think a couple of my teeth look like they have cavity. A small black spot which is almost negligible though. Is there any way to heal them without going to a dentist clinic

BDS
Dentist, Asansol
Hello, As you said , some of your teeth have cavity. Teeth with cavity can be restored easily with suitable filling material. . But for that you need to visit your dentist. But once you leave that cavity as it is, you may have pain and sensitivity in the future. So to avoid all such complications you should immediately get you teeth restored.

I want to fill my teeth gap but not with braces is there another treatment option to fill teeth gap?

I want to fill my teeth gap but not with braces is there another treatment option to fill teeth gap?
There are other options like porceline venner, lamination, white filing material, some patient prefer gold filing. There are options available as per how much money you want to spent and other important factor is space or gap between youe teeth. So my advise is to consult a good dentist. Because only he/She can advise which is best for you.

Common Dental Problems

Hello Friends, I am Dr Saurabh Gogri and I sit in Hindmatas Milestone Dental clinic. Here I have performed many dental procedures such as Root canal treatment, fillings, scaling, braces, implants, crowns and bridges and many other treatment.

Well the frequently asked questions by the patients is which toothpaste should I use?     For that any Fluoridated Toothpaste can be used. Basically it contains 1bpm of fluoride, any toothpaste. It can be Pepsodant, Colgate, Oral-b, any toothpaste.

The second most frequently asked question asked is how painful will my treatment be?     So actually speaking with the recent advances there is minimal or no pain in any dental procedure with the use of Anaesthesia post root canal and extraction. If there is mild pain that can be controlled with the help of pain killers.

The next question asked is that how may sitting will it take?       Usually root canal treatment is known that it takes 2 to 3 sittings. Nowadays with recent advances techniques, we can complete a root canal in a single sitting which will be of maximum one hour.

Next question is why is the Dental treatment costly?         Actually dental treatment is not costly . A dentist charges according to material he uses. He uses the best material so he charges a bit more. And also the experience matters. With experience the charges may increase. Thank you Friends.

How Acidic Foods Affect Your Teeth

How Acidic Foods Affect Your Teeth

We all got together to indulge into our favourite foods this holiday season, where platter overflowed with sweet, spicy and acidic foods. However, when it comes to teeth, sugar isn’t the only culprit that cause tooth decay. High levels of acid in everyday foods and drinks are equally harmful. Lemons to wine, high-acid foods and drinks erode your teeth, causing decay, sensitivity and discoloration. But that doesn’t mean you have to strike all acidic foods and drinks from your diet. The way you consume these items can lessen their damage on your teeth.

Tooth erosion:

It is a type of tooth wear where, the protective surface of your teeth or the enamel wears away exposing the underlying material, called dentin. This leaves your tooth vulnerable to tartar, plaque and bacteria, which cause decay.

Causes of tooth erosion:

Calcium is a key ingredient in building strong teeth. Unfortunately, exposing your teeth to acid can leach calcium from your enamel, causing this protective surface to break down. Foods which have Ph. below 5.0 to 5.7 are acidic. This acid can come from many sources, including the following:

· Carbonated drinks. All soft drinks, including “diet” options, contain high levels of acid that can easily dissolve your enamel.

· Wine. Whether you choose red, white or rosé, drinking wine will soften your enamel.

· Pickles. Which are traditionally seen in an Indian platter

· Fruit juice. The most acidic options include lemon, cranberry, orange and apple.

· Citric fruits. Snacking or sucking on lemons, oranges and limes can wear down your teeth.

· Candy. No sugary sweets are good for your teeth, but you should pay extra attention to avoid sour gummies and candies.

· Sugar. Even though sugar itself does not contain high levels of acidity, it promotes the growth of acid-creating bacteria in your mouth, creating an acidic environment.

· Stomach acid. Vomiting and reflux also can cause serious tooth damage when stomach acid comes into contact with your teeth. If you suffer from an eating disorder, acid reflux or a related condition, seek professional help.

Signs of tooth erosion

Acid wear may lead to serious dental problems. It is important to notice the signs of tooth erosion in its early stages (sensitivity and discoloration) before more severe damage occur, such as cracks, pain and decay.

· Sensitivity. As your teeth’s protective enamel wears away, you may feel a twinge of pain when you consume hot, cold or sweet food and drink. As more enamel is worn away, teeth become increasingly sensitive.

· Discoloration. Teeth can become increasingly yellow as the thinning enamel layer exposes the underlying dentin.

· Rounded teeth. Your teeth may have a rounded or “sand-blasted” look.

· Sharp edges. You might notice thinning of teeth with sharp edges which might cut your tongue and cheeks.

· Transparency. Your front teeth may appear slightly translucent near the edges.

· Cracks. Small cracks and roughness may appear at the edges of teeth.

· Cupping. Small dents may appear on the chewing surface of the teeth, and fillings may appear to be rising up out of the tooth.

What you can do to prevent tooth erosion

Follow these tips to reduce the effects of acid on your teeth.

· Eating higher pH. Food alongside. This helps in lowering the acidity. Includes food like nuts, cheese, oatmeal, mangoes, melons, banana, apples, eggs, vegetables, brown rice and whole grains.

· Eat with meals. Instead of snacking throughout the day, save acidic foods for mealtimes. This will reduce their contact with your teeth and help neutralize the acid by eating it with other foods.

· Wash down with water. Sip water alongside or after the acidic food or drink to wash it out of your mouth.

· Use a straw. While having acidic beverages, reduce their contact with your teeth by using a straw and finishing the drink quickly, instead of sipping over a long period of time.

· Say no to bubbles. Swap out carbonated drinks with water, milk or tea.

· Wait before brushing. Acid softens your enamel, so brushing immediately after eating or drinking high-acid foods or drinks can actually cause damage. Wait at least half an hour and then start brushing. In the meantime, you can always rinse your mouth with tap water.

· Quit smoking. Studies have showed that smokers are more prone to acidity leading to acid reflux and teeth erosion

· Professional help. See your dentist twice a year for dental cleaning and oral screening.

· Sugar free gums. Chewing on sugar free gums increase the saliva flow which, neutralise the acid and help the teeth to stay strong.

Probably they are vague complaints and therr are no particular diagnosis.. The teeth complaint may be because of lack of vitamin c...and other weaknesses... The shoulder pain also can be because of cervical spondylosis or may only be just because of wrong sleep posture... can only decide after proper detailed case...

Fillings for Teeth and Root Canal Treatment

What happens when you have a cavity?

When tooth decay is limited there is no pain. All decay starts on the enamel. Sealants can be applied to reduce the acid attack on the teeth. If detected early, these can be very well managed by removing the decayed portion and filling it with tooth-colored composite resin restorations.Remember that even at a relatively late stage, when the tooth is broken / decayed badly it can built back to its original form.

Glass Ionomer Cement: This is used for small restorations, especially in primary or milk teeth in children, mostly for economic reasons.

Composites: Composite resins attach themselves to the tooth by a chemical reaction. The biggest advantage is that they can be made to match the tooth with the appropriate shade.

Dental Pain occurs when the complex supply of blood vessels and nerves (the Pulp) is affected by bacteria as they burrow into the tooth layers (Enamel and Dentin), along with their noxious by-products and acid. The deeper the decay enters, higher the chances of infection and increasing intensity of pain.

What happens when you have a root canal?

Severe excruciating pain is experienced, when decay reaches the pulp is usually with a set of aggravating factors either hot and / or cold. Root canal therapy is required to save the tooth.

Root Canal: In root canal treatment, basically the tooth is treated for the infection and all the diseased tissue of the tooth is removed and filled. With good treatment the pain should disappear in a few days. Remember that root canal can be done in single sitting and when done with adequate local anaesthesia (injection) they are pretty much pain free!

Usually a cap is required on the tooth. Ceramic Crowns or caps are being made of ceramic material more often; gradually it is becoming the most preferred option since this looks and feels very natural.

Hi, you need to get a professional cleaning done. If that does not help then you may go for teeth whitening.
