Hi, Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe’s Belladonna 30 and Euphrasia 30 - both thrice daily for 4 days. Use Euphrasia Eye drops twice daily. Revert back thereafter. Management: - Try to rest your eyes if redness is due to fatigue or eye strain. No other treatment is needed. - Wash your hands, hold clean water in your hand, keep your eyes closer to the water and dip the eyes by blinking the eyelids frequently in the held water in hand. Repeat it for 3-4 times again. - Avoid watching T.V. Working on computer or mobile, reading or frequently keep blinking your eyes to avoid dryness. Take frequent breaks in between. - In case there is itching, use a clean napkin or a tissue to wipe the tears and cleaning the eyelids gently. -Wear an UV-rays protected sunglasses while you are out in sun.

Hello, there is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 19 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik. On continuous viewing, tears flows out and it is normal. You can use lubricating eye drop.

Hi lybrate-user. Maintenance of a healthy antioxidant rich diet is quintessential to maintaining healthy eyes. Let me enumerate the diet necessary for healthy eyes. (1) green leafy vegetables including spinach, sprouts, cabbage, beetroot. (2) fruits-blue-berries, black-berries, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi fruit, grapes, pineapple, pomegranate, grapes, guava. (3) dry-fruits: almonds, walnuts, apricots, dates. (4) cereals: oats, barley, millets. (5) drink a cup of green tea daily. (6) drink a glass of milk daily. Sleeping habits should be regularized. A sleep of minimum 7 hours is necessary to give the eyes the much deserved rest. Also, refrain from tobacco chewing, smoking, or addiction in any form. Also remember the rule of 1. At least 1 time in a day, wash your eyes with clean hands and clean water in a gentle manner. Exercise for at least 1 hour in a day. Try to spend 1 hour with nature. (eg. In a park, garden, etc.) you could consider preservative free lubricant eye drops 4 to 5 times daily. These eye drops would ensure that your eyes stay well lubricated and fresh. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care.

I have -2 power of my eye in starting. Now it's -4. Everything its increasing when I tested. Please help.
You are having myopia. Myopia is of two types -simple & pathological myopia. Usually the increase in power stops by the age of 18-21yrs in female & 21-24 in male. If this occurs it is simple myopia. If the power goes on increasing after this age then it is pathologigal type. You can take vit a rich food to keep your eyes in good condition, like carrot, tomato, ripe papaya & green vegetable.

Hello, Bloodshot eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: Eye dryness Too much sun exposure Dust or other particles in the eye Allergies Infection Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. Other causes of eye redness include Colds or allergies, Acute glaucoma, Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. - Avoid watching T. V. It is a day care procedure does not require any injections, does not require admission, you can simply resume your duties in 2 days. Cost varies from centre to centre. Side effects are usually limited to dryness of eyes for few months. We can do lasik anytime after age of 18 years. You need to undergo proper prelasik checkup to decide whether lasik is safe for you or not

What is hypermetropia? What are the causes for that? How it can be prevented and how it can be corrected?

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology

What is hypermetropia? What are the causes for that? How it can be prevented and how it can be corrected?
Hypermetropia is better known as far sighted-ness. It means that a person having hypermetropia tends to have good vision for distance and poor vision for near. The causes are as follows: (1) axial growth of the eye. The eye tends to be short and thus cause hypermetropic refractive error. (2) age related. With progressive age, there occurs a hypermetropic shift. (3) surgical removal of the lens in the eye tends to render the eye highly hypermetropic. (4) children are seen to have hypermetropic refractive errors. To correct hypermetropia, following treatment options are available: (a) glasses/ spectacles. (b) contact lens. (c) refractive surgery. (d) lens surgery-removal of the lens and placement of an artificial intra-ocular lens. Let me know if further assistance required. Take care.

I have eye sight problem by birth. My vision is 6/60 but there is no problem in lenses. I want to know that is their ...
Weak eyesight has multiple factors associated with it. To enumerate a few: (1) refractive error- change of the power of glasses is the commonest cause of weak eyesight. In fact, if you have not used glasses previously, it might be possible that you might need to use them now. (2) age related changes in the lens of the eye-this is generally known as cataract. This is present in varying proportions in a majority of population above 55 years. This means that some degree of cataract is usually found in the age group over 55 years. (3) retina problem-different degenerations of the retina usually lead to weakening of the eyesight. The degeneration may be caused due to progressive age. It may also occur due to a high minus number of the eye (myopia). (4) cornea related problem- cornea is the anterior (front) part of the eye. Certain issues with the cornea may cause weakening of the eyesight. (5) weakness due to injury/ trauma/ accident: in this regard, it may be possible to salvage good vision if early intervention is done. (6) optic nerve related problems: at times, raised intra-ocular pressure or certain neurological conditions may cause drying up of the optic nerve and cause poor vision. This may be possible to treat in certain cases. Thus, it would be a good idea to consult an eye specialist in person and get your eyes evaluated for the cause of weakening eyesight. Hope my suggestions help. Take care, regards.

Hello dear there are many causes for redness of eyes mainly allergy, infection, inflammation and dry eyes etc. 1. Redness + itching: allergy 2. Redness + pain+ watering + decreased vision: infection 3. Redness + pain: inflammation 4. Redness+ foreign body sensation: dryness if there is only redness then it is normal as slight exposure to dust, temperature or air or eyes may be red in morning. Stress may also cause redness. I usually do not treat when there is only redness, you can 1. Blink a lot 2. Wash eyes with fresh water 3. Cold compresses 4. Use lubricating eyedrop like flogel these measures will help to keep your eyes healthy but it will not have any effect on redness (treating generalredness alone is not necessary also) having said that you should consult local ophthalmologist for proper examination and treatment.
