I am 21 years old female. Everyday in night when I am going for get sleep, my right hand and right leg are start paining. It was started about 6/7 month ago. What should I do ?

Advice hot fomentation. Gentle stretching of hand muscles. Ball exercises. Wrist exerciser: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise. Hamstring stretching.

. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily ..Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall.. .Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily – lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana ? Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

I am 32 years old and feeling knee pain. I don' t think it is due over use because I do not play any hard sports which include running and all. I am not over weight as per my bmi and is within the range. I feel the pain when I use staircase but normal walk I do not have pain and after some one or two hour walk I feel some burning sensation for sometime which slowly reduces. I suspect it could be calcium and vitmain d deficiency please let me know what I can do.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. It is a common symptom amongst young age people and understanding is slightly complex. We commonly label it as chondromalacia - which means softening of the cartilage of knee cap undersurface. I would advise you to - do intensive ice packs for 3-4 times in a day - anti inflammatory medications which suits you - physical therapy - this is the mainstay of treatment. You need someone who understand the condition and can do strengthening of quadriceps and stretching of other muscle groups. - continue with calcium and vitamin d supplementation. Get some blood tests and send reports across to me: esr, crp, serum potassium, serum vitamin d and serum uric acid levels. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Kindly show me a photograph & digital X RAYS of affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit.D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. SPRING BEDS, FOLDING BEDS OR THICK MATRESS ARE HARMFUL Use no pillow under the head. DO HOT FOMANTATION. Paracetamol 250mg OD & SOS x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab OD x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do reply back for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore .It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold). Avoid Squatting- Avoid sitting Cross legged Contrast bath---It is a form of treatment knee is applied warm water followed by the immediate application of the knee with ice water. This procedure is repeated several times, alternating hot and cold. Note that the treatment should always end in the ice water, as heat will induce the body's inflammatory response, while cold helps to decrease inflammation.

I am 73 years old. I, am having lumber and cervical spondilysis. Had a fall on back 30 days back. Mri shows partial collapse of body of l 1. Having pain on back waist. What to do?

Dear, Your pain is suggestive of the partial collapse of L1 vertebrae. You could try rest and analgesic tablets like Zerodol 100mg BD*10 days after food. If you are prone to gastritis then add Tab. Rantac 150mg BD. If that fails, I offer such patients Radio frequency ablation of the medial branches supplying that facet joint and if necessary Vertebroplasty, would give immediate relief. The cost of Vertebroplasty using the Confidence System would be approximately ?. 100000.00.

I suffered from a dislocation of the carpals of the thumb, about 3 years back. It hasn't caused much problems since, but recently, due to a minor accident, it is aching a lot combined with a tingling effect everytime I bend it. What should I do?

You may have cervicogenic headache in which upper cervical spondylosis occur. Pls take sm neck physiotherapy session near you. Apply cold pack on upper back neck, do sm side bending, sm scalene stretching, pectoral stretching. Do deep breathing you will feel better.

Sir, in your case, without properly assessing your knee joints, their mobility, flexibility, etc and without any x ray or bone scan, its difficult to say what exactly is the problem and tell the proper treatment. But, i'll advice, just have a look at your feet or get it checked by someone in family or even a physiotherapist, if you visit for your knee pain problem. There is something known as" flat feet" every person has a curvature, called" arches" in their feet, around the middle portion. In some it is high, in some low, in some normal, and in some its so low that the feet appears to be flat when place on ground. You can compare your arches with someone in family or google it. If you have flat feet or low medial arch, then it can be the real cause for your pain, coz it affects the load bearing or shock absorbing power of your knees, and so when you run, the force from the ground affects your knees much more. In such cases, you have to go for shoe modification, using readymade footwear or insoles having medial arch support, or customize them according to your need.

This is a general strain due to excessive walking or standing and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes. One time you can do hot water fermentation that would help to reduce the muscle strain.
