Hi, If you are having active sexual life, get your urine tested for pregnancy. Any nutritional deficiency can also lead to Menstrual problem/ irregularity. Take more of green vegetables, nuts, salads, seasonal fruits, yellow coloured veggies, milk & milk products, plenty of water and enough of sleep & rest. Take homoeopathic medication – Schwabe's Five Phos. And Alfaalfa Tonic – both thrice daily for 1 month. Thereafter revert. Take care.

Why You Must Have Plum Cake This Christmas and Stay Guilt-free!
Why You Must Gorge on Plum Cake This Christmas

Christmas time brings with itself the mouth watering dessert of plum cakes. Besides being delicious, plum cakes come loaded with numerous health benefits. Read on to find out how plum cakes are a healthy dessert option.

Why are plum cakes good for your health?

Plums are rich in various nutrients, which make plum cakes a healthy food choice despite being a dessert. Plums are full of dietary fibre, which helps in lowering your cholesterol level, controls blood sugar level and helps you in maintaining an ideal body mass index. This fruit is also known for its high vitamin C content, and it ensures that your body absorbs most of the available iron from the food after consumption. Additionally, it also strengthens your immune system. Plums contain an array of minerals like magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, copper, manganese etc, which are necessary for the proper functioning of your body. Plus, they are packed with antioxidants, which help in the digestion of your food and in maintaining good metabolism.

Also, the eggs in the plum cake are very good for your health too. Eggs are an excellent source of protein, which along with its vitamin B2 content, help in raising HDL (or good) cholesterol levels. Besides, eggs contain choline (a water-soluble nutrient), which is necessary for the proper functioning of your brain and liver.

Here’s an easy Christmas plum cake recipe for you.

Ingredients:

Sugar-1.5 cups
Eggs-3
Vegetable oil-1 cup
Wheat flour - 2 cups
Plums-about 450 grams, drained and chopped
Chopped nuts- ½ cup
Baking soda-1 teaspoon
Vanilla essence-1 teaspoon

Directions:

Preheat your oven to a temperature of about 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Take a 9-inch pan and grease it with oil. Sprinkle some flour over it. Start beating the eggs in a small container. Mix the vanilla essence and keep aside. Blend the butter and sugar in a large bowl and mix the beaten egg with it. Mix the flour and baking powder in a different container and then add to the previous mixture. Gently blend it to give a consistent texture. Add the chopped pieces of plum and nuts. Mix well. Pour into the greased pan and bake for about 40 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and allow it to cool completely. Cut into pieces and serve.

Merry Christmas!

I am two months pregnant. I just want to know, is there is any symptoms or any indications which indicates the sex of the baby.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Sex of the fetus can be diagnosed only on ultrasound after 16 weeks, but is banned in india and you should refrain from perusing this as it has legal punishment and heavy fine for both patient and doctor also. There is no symptom by which you can make out the sex of the fetus.

Hello Ms. lybrate-user. The gastrointestinal symptoms are most probably due to metformin. If metformin has been started empirically i.e without checking blood glucose levels, it is advisable to review the prescription. Metformin is helpful in PCOS only when associated with increased fasting blood glucose levels. Otherwise, just continue the combination of D-chiroinositol and myoinositol that you are taking. Regards.

My wife is feeling like vomiting every month before arrival of periods, is it natural or something is behind it?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Cyclic vomiting syndrome (CVS) is a relatively rare disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of severe nausea and vomiting interspersed with symptom free periods. Triggering factors of acute emetic episodes are similar in adults and children with CVS which include infections (e.g., chronic sinusitis, upper respiratory infections), emotional and psychological stress, motion sickness, lack of sleep, physical exhaustion and certain food products (e.g., chocolate, cheese, and monosodium glutamate) In some women, episodes are triggered by menstruation in which oral contraceptive pill could help to prevent symptoms.

M having sex with my partner but there is no penetration and also there is no sperm, kindly advice how I will able to penetrate and how many day we should hve sex in order to conceive baby.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
To get pregnant you need to have regular sex i. E. 3-4 times a week for one full year before you start seeking medical help. If you want to make her pregnant fast then you can follow this calender method. If a women’s menstrual cycle varies from 26days to 31days cycle, The shortest cycle (26 days) minus 18 days = 8th day. The longest cycle (31 days) minus 10 days=21st day Thus, 8th to 21st day of each cycle counting from first day of menstrual period is considered as fertile period. But you need to have penetration to get her pregnant. If there is a long standing issue then you should get her examined from a gynecologist.

My wife is having problem for last3days. The outer wall of her vagina is severe itching problem. She is diabetic too Using Candid ointment but not helping. Pl suggest.

LCPS, BAM&S
General Physician, Pune
At the age of 62, dryness of vagina can also cause itching. So she should go for creams that moisturise vagina. Take her to a Gynaecologist who will decide what exactly she needs. Fungal infections are common in diabetics. So the Gynaecologist will decide from that angle also.
