Treat Intestinal Distress Through Ayurveda

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Treat Intestinal Distress Through Ayurveda

Intestinal distress is usually characterised by discomfort and pain in the abdomen, as well as an irritable bowel. This is generally caused when food does not move fast enough through the food pipe, to get digested in time. In Ayurvedic terms, this undigested, unprocessed food and the toxins that it causes is known as Ama. Intestinal distress includes conditions ranging from heartburn to IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. This is also known as Grahani in Ayurveda. Want to more about treating these conditions, the Ayurvedic way? Here's how!

  1. Mustakarishta: This medicine helps in the prevention and treatment of loose motions as well as indigestion that causes gas and acidity.
  2. Dadimavaleha: This is generally prescribed for patients suffering from fever along with loose motions, and bleeding, which usually points to infections in the body.
  3. Kutajarishta: This concoction is used for treating patients suffering from dysentery, loose motions and mild to severe irritable bowel syndrome.
  4. Pushyanuga Churna: This medicine is used for treating menorrhagia, metrorrhagia, excessive bleeding during menstrual cycles and other digestive disorders.
  5. Kutajavaleha: This is usually used during treatment for conditions like irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis and piles. It also treats inflammation and bleeding issues. This medicine is also useful in treating patients suffering from anaemia.
  6. Sanjeevani Vati: This medicine can be used for treating problems associated with dyspepsia, gastro enteritis and indigestion which can lead to heartburn.
  7. Bilwadi Gutika: Patients who have endured rodent or insect bites as well as gastro enteritis issues can use this medicine for instant relief.
  8. Jeerakarishtam: This medicine is used for mothers who have just had babies and need to control frequent stools and indigestion in the post-natal period.

The use of Ayurvedic medicines necessarily needs the support of other measures like eating a healthy and balanced diet as well as massages and other such tools prescribed under this science. The medicines work towards healing and preventing further eruptions of the ailments. But for the successful treatment of the same, patients of intestinal distress need to remember not to overeat and to have meals on time, and in a routine manner. The meals should consist of cumin, turmeric and easy to digest food as well as plenty of water. Exercise is another important facet of relieving the discomfort felt under such situations.

Chapatti has lots of carbohydrates, so should I skip eating chalati. Sometimes in night while studying we feel hungry so what should we can eat?

Chapatti has lots of carbohydrates, so should I skip eating chalati. Sometimes in night while studying we feel hungry...
Hye. Thank you for your query. Cereals are not bad. As a student your body needs energy and cereals are a staple in our culture and a source of energy. By skipping chapattis for dinner you are crashing your diet and this starvation created in the body will not allow you to concentrate on studies. If you eat a good dinner, you will not crave foods later. Late at night you can indulge in a light snacks or milk or yoghurt or nuts or a fruit as well. Avoid stimulants like chocolates, aerated drinks or juices at night.

Since I am having Hypertension and on medication for that I cannot take drugs like viagra etc. Can u cure this problem?

MSc-Psychology, MHSc-Reproductive and Sexual Medicine, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS

Viagra can be taken even by people with hypertension. Men after bypass surgery also can have viagra. But a qualified sexual medicine doctor has to prescribe it after examining you. First get your self examined by a sexologist. He will assess what is your condition and prescribe you. Viagra is one of the treatments of erectile dysfunction, there are other drugs also.

Don't take too many pain killers they are not good you are right your problems are psychological try to control them if you take care of your lifestyle with proper diet work activities and exercises you can keep a good balanced life it is true there are so many diseases around but then that doesn't mean you are going to suffer from them why don't you think of the people who keep fit till they die in old age keep your thinking positive and if you can't manage it take the help of a psychotherapist to discuss the matters and get out of this state of mind.

I am 26 years old female and I am suffering from hair fall problem from last 4-5 yrs. I did all the solutions but no result yet. What should I do?

Diploma in homeopathy, B. Sc
Homeopath, Gurgaon
If it's not genetic, then you diet or stress, or lack of exercise is the culprit. Your diet must include fresh fruits and a full serving of salads at every meal: cucumber, tomato, carrot, radish, onion slices or spring onion, raw cauliflower, cabbage leaf, etc. All this is essential to give you a balanced nutrient boost. Cut out any junk food and aerated drinks totally. Generally foods that come out of a packet, or can, or bottle shud be avoided. Exercise to increase circulation:- 2 mins of hard exercise then 1 min rest - do this four times a day. You can either do it all in one go or split it into sessions through the day. In total it is only 12 mins a day so should not be a big issue. A very useful exercise is to jump in one place simulating skipping. Build up your time to 2 mins. Of jumping. In conclusion, live and eat healthy and you will develop energy, a glowing skin and a healthy go' in life -regardless of age. Tell me about your stress problems.

Tips to Prevent Vision Loss in Elderly People

Cornea Cataract & Lasik

Tips to Prevent Vision Loss in Elderly People

A person is said to have great vision more in the metaphorical way than in the literal sense. However, having both is just so important, especially as the ability to see reduces as a person gets older. Old age comes with its own set of problems, and vision loss is one of them. If kept in check from an early age, however, vision loss can be deferred indefinitely.

While a person's eyesight is likely to deteriorate over the course of his life, there is a lot which can be done in an effort to make sure that this is not the case. To start with, it makes good sense to be regular with eye check-ups. After a person attains the age of sixty, he or she should have a doctor take a look at his or her eyes on a yearly basis. There is no point trying to conserve eye sight if a person is too late in taking corrective action. By paying a visit to the ophthalmologist, a person will get to know the exact problem that he is suffering from.

A good diet which is rich in the nutrients which improve a person's eye sight does go a very long way in the long run. A person should make sure that is diverse enough to take care of the needs of a person and should include grapefruit, strawberries as well as berries and nuts.

One of the main things which can be done in order to preserve the health of a person's eyes until he or she reaches an advanced age is to stop smoking in all forms. As a matter of fact, tobacco leads to cyanide entering the blood stream and this does a lot of damage to the eyes. In fact, quite a few irreversible conditions of the eye are caused due to this.

Exercise is said to be good for a person at any age for a variety of reasons and it is really good for even the eyes, though the link may not be immediately so clear. It reduces the risk of age related degeneration by up to 70 per cent!

What is really interesting about a person's eyes is that they can be signs of trouble in other parts of the body. For example, if a person has blurry vision, they should get checked for diabetes. Also, eyes which do not produce enough natural lubrication can show a risk of rheumatoid arthritis and perhaps even thyroid disease.

All in all, a person's eyesight is so crucial to his or her overall health and wellbeing. We have only one pair of eyes, so we might as well take care of them!

Reason Why You Should Eat Dates Every Day

Reason Why You Should Eat Dates Every Day
Dates

With their laxative effect, dates can help people suffering from constipation. They are high in soluble fiber, which promotes healthy bowel movements and smooth passage of food through the intestinal tract.
1. Soak 8 to 10 dates, after removing the seeds, in a glass of water overnight.
2. The next morning, grind the dates along with the water until you get a syrup-like consistency.
3. Drink it on an empty stomach daily.

Dear Lybrate User, It appears that your mom is worried about her physical health. It also appears to me that she is having lots of stress. It is possible that she has certain things on her mind which are very disturbing and she is unable to share it with anyone. This is probably causing her anger. If possible, help her in expressing her feelings. Try to see the world from her view point, try to understand her situations. Express your own concerns and tell her that you love her a lot. Also tell her that she is valuable. All she needs is love and care and it is to be expressed verbally. You may also take her to a Counsellor, where she will get an outlet to express her feelings and the counselling process will help her to understand what is happening to her and how to cope up with her difficulties. All the best.

To achieve weightloss - think long term. Weight loss achieved over short term, always comes back. There is a general approach and a specific approach as per individual patients metabolic profile. Try this general approach (see below) for 4 weeks. If this works then continue. If this is not enough then revert for further assessment and customized approach. 1. Do not eat anything sugary or sweet. Zero sweetness in diet. 2. Eat plenty of salad in lunch and dinner along with other foods. 3. Do not drink any liquid calorie like cola or fruit juices. 4. Continue brisk walks or jogging for 45 - 60 minutes every day.
