All about bisexuality

Sexologist, Aligarh
All about bisexuality

Physical intimacy is a very important part of our lives and defines how we relate to others and see ourselves. It is the attraction one feels towards a particular gender or group of people not just romantically, but emotionally and sexually. There is an increase in the number of people in today's world who identify themselves as bisexuals. Bisexuality is the romantic and sexual attraction or behavior towards people of any sex or gender i.e. both males and females. There are many factors that affect the sexual orientation of a person including environmental, hormonal, emotional and biological factors. Bisexuality is not a disorder that needs to be treated, nor are bisexuals psychologically disturbed.

One very misleading myth is that bisexuality is just a phase and after experimentation (usually during college years) you settle for your true identity as either a homosexual i.e. attracted towards the same sex or heterosexual i.e. attracted towards the opposite sex. Bisexuality is not a transitional period. Most bisexuals may act on their desires and choose to be with one particular sex. However, it doesn't mean that bisexuals are not attracted towards the other sex. This does not mean that they are any less faithful towards their partners than other sexual orientations such as heterosexuals, homosexuals, pansexuals etc.
Several surveys later, it has been concluded that women are more likely to identify themselves as bisexuals than males. This is because women have greater erotic plasticity as compared to men. Bisexuals are often prejudiced against and are stereotyped as highly promiscuous and sexually confused. There is also a social stigma attached to the concept of bisexuality. This is nothing more than an unfair social bias. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a sexologist.

Melanoma - What Causes It?

Melanoma - What Causes It?

Melanoma is a form of skin cancer that is caused due to many reasons. This condition mainly indicates a severe malfunction of the melanocytes or the melanin producing cells of the body. These cells are responsible for giving you your skin colour, tone and complexion. Usually, a person suffering from melanoma will have many normal and irregular moles as well as melanoma in the eye and digestive tracts too. So, what are the causes of this condition? Read on to find out.

  1. Skin Cell Development: The general process of skin renewal includes the rise of new skin cells to the surface in a routine and continuous manner. This skin cell development can get hindered due to a number of reasons like DNA damage. When this happens, the dead skin cells accumulate instead of falling off to make space for the new cells, and this can cause a mass of cancerous cells to form.
  2. Fair Complexion: Having an excessively fair skin tone may point towards lack of melanin or pigment in the skin. This erodes the protection that one naturally gets when exposed to the harmful Ultraviolet rays of the sun. This can increase the risk of contracting melanoma. Also, people with freckles, red or blonde hair, and even blue eyes can fall prey to this condition.
  3. Location: Your geographic location also matters to a great extent when it comes to this disease. People living closer to the equator have reported increased cases of this disease due to over exposure to Ultraviolet rays. The direct and harsh rays of the Sun can also lead to this condition.
  4. History: When you have a history of sunburns or if you are particularly susceptible to them, then you may end up with melanoma. Blistering sunburns and too many moles can also lead to this condition. Dysplastic nevi or many unusual modes with irregular shape, size and colour also indicate an increased risk of falling prey to melanoma. Also, if you have had a family history of this disease, then there are chances of contracting the same, as you may have inherited the carrier gene too.
  5. Immune System: Much like many other diseases and cancers, this condition also greatly depends on the state of your immune system. Patients who have recently recovered from organ transplants, other such procedures,  and diseases can find themselves at the weak end of their immunity, which makes them susceptible to such kinds of cancer.

Melanoma should be treated in a proper way by a specialist from the Oncology department.

I am newly married, I am suffering from premature ejaculation when I am excited and number of times even I am not abl...
Premature ejaculation is uncontrolled ejaculation either before or shortly after sexual penetration. It happens with minimal sexual stimulation and before the person wishes. It may result in unsatisfactory sex for both partners. This can increase the anxiety that may add to the problem. It is one of the most common forms of male sexual dysfunction. It has probably affected every man at some point in his life. Most cases of premature ejaculation do not have a clear cause. With sexual experience and age, men often learn to delay orgasm. Psychological factors such as anxiety, guilt, or depression can also cause it. In some cases, it may be related to a medical cause such as hormonal problems, injury, or a side effect of certain medicines. Consult a psychiatrist Your doctor will discuss your medical and sexual history with you. He or she will do a thorough physical exam. Your doctor may want to talk to your partner also. Premature ejaculation can have many causes. So your doctor may order lab tests to rule out any other medical problem. In many cases premature ejaculation gets better on its own over time. Treatment may not be needed. Practicing relaxation techniques or using distraction methods may help you delay ejaculation. Your doctor may recommend that you and your partner practice certain techniques to help delay ejaculation, as well as medications are there to help. All the best.

Premature Ejaculation Myths - Debunked!

Premature Ejaculation Myths - Debunked!

Premature ejaculation (PE) is when a man has an orgasm sooner during intercourse than desired.

Across the lifespan, PE is men's number one sex problem. In every adult age group, about 30 percent of men complain of poor ejaculatory control. Among older men, erectile dysfunction becomes more common and gets all the headlines, but across the lifespan, from 18 on, PE affects more men than women.

There are numerous beliefs about PE that are either not true nor backed up by scientific evidence. Below are the most common myths about PE along with the best facts available along with numerous resources for learning more about PE from medical institutions.

Here is the list Debunked!

#MYTH1: Ejaculation is not something that can be controlled.

FACT: Actually, men can learn to control ejaculation, similar to the way bladder control (toilet training) is learned at a young age. Like bladder control, once men learn to control ejaculation they are unlikely to forget.

#MYTH2: Premature Ejaculation is purely a psychological problem.

FACT: While there can be psychological elements to PE, many cases are the result of an oversensitive glans penis, or head of the penis. Because ejaculation is caused by stimulation to the head of the penis, men who are oversensitive in that area will require very little stimulation to ejaculate. They have what is called a low ejaculatory threshold.

#MYTH3: Alcohol, cocaine, marijuana and antidepressants are good ways to control premature ejaculation.

FACT: While inhibition of ejaculation may be one side-effect of these drugs, other serious side-effects associated with such drugs must be taken into account. In actuality, more often substance abuse causes erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, inability to orgasm, and other side effects. Antidepressants should not be taken lightly and should be taken only under strict medical care.

#MYTH4: Anesthetic sprays or creams available at sex shops are good ways to control PE.

FACT: These products work rarely, if ever. Most numb the head of the penis as well as the partner's vagina, reducing pleasure for both involved. The numbing effect prevents men from become acclimated to the sensation of making love for longer periods of time, so the problem will return as soon as you stop using them.

#MYTH5: Premature Ejaculation will not eventually cause erection problems.

FACT: More patients who have suffered from PE for long periods eventually develop erection problems than those who are able to control their ejaculation. Many times, PE is the first sign of Erectile Dysfunction.

#MYTH6: Premature Ejaculation will not affect your sex life.

FACT: It is often difficult for men to relax and enjoy the experience of love making if they are worried that ejaculation may occur too soon. Also, the partner may not be getting ample satisfaction from the experience, and may avoid lovemaking specifically, and intimacy in general, as a result.

#MYTH7: Premature Ejaculation will not affect your confidence and ability to socialize in everyday life.

FACT: Any problem that affects your self-image can have a negative impact on your confidence and ability to socialize. Men who learn to control their ejaculation often become more confident and more outgoing. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a sexologist.
