Hi, I have grade 3 tear in medial meniscus of right knee. Doctor suggested me arthoscopy but he is not giving gurantee whether I will be back to my normal routine including sports activities and gym. I have also read many negative feedback about the meniscal arthoscopy. Pls suggest for any alternate.

It is advisable to undergo arthroscopy of the knee if it is a grade 3 medial meniscus tear and if symptoms like recurrent swelling, locking etc are present. Meanwhile you should continue with knee rehabilitation but if there are symptoms which are present, consider arthroscopy as it is a simple and a short procedure with good encouraging results. I am 18 years old. My problem is back pain when I wake up my back pain gets start.

Apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part then give hot fomentation twice a day. Take mahayograj guggul 1-1 tab twice a day. Take maharasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Avoid tea. Coffee. Junk food. Fermented food. Spicy food. Rice. Walk for atleast 30 minutes a day. Do pranayama early morning. Sleep for atleast 7 hrs per day.

I am 22 year old. 24 days ago I got a jerk and soft tissue damage in my right knee while playing football and I got a plaster but the recvry is not done. While doing smthng or trying to push anything there is severe pain in my knee on the medial aspect. Wat should I do. And will it affect my sports for a longer period?

Dear, by the history you r giving, you might have injured your knee either ligament or meniscus. You need to consult with a sports surgeon or orthopaedics surgeon soon as possible to avoid further damage.

Dear lybrateuser, -apply ice compress on the part which pains, can apply any pain relieving gel 3-4 times a day, give rest to the limb if pain is more after walking, apply shin splint while walking -consult orthopedician for exact diagnosis & medication.

Having muscle pain since the last day for playing football after while what should I do?

It is only a one day story and it can happen when your muscles are over exerted to which they are not accustomed. You can do ice packs and take gentle anti inflammatory medication which suits you and you should be ok in next 4-5 days. Also do not indulge in any sporting activities for now till you are pain free and try to resume with gradual pre activity warm up and with short increments in physical activity each day. I am 50 years old. I am suffering from severe pain in right hand fingers except thumb and little finger. With the 3 fingers I could not attend for any work. And their shape emerging curved day by day instead of straight. Besides I am suffering from diabetes, bp, thyroid, spondylitis in 2 shoulders. Massage with your thumbs from the mid points of the shoulder blades on both sides towards the lower back of your head up to lower level of the ears. Use oil or water for massage. Rotate your head clockwise and anticlockwise, forward and down, left and right a few times. Do for 5 to 10 times morning and evening. Give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem. Further do some wrist rotation exercise. Consult after 5 days. For further guidance and treatment.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. I can advise you regarding your issues with back pain, for stomach pain and head ache you will have to actually consult respective doctors. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Dear , what you are experiencing is called RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury). More often than not the culprit is the chair and the computer monitor. Adjust your chair so that you sit straight (no slumping). Your monitor should be at eye level. Take frequent breaks (2 min. Every 30 min). Stretch your back, hands, wrist, fingers, neck. Pain relieving gels or ointments will help. See an orthopedic surgeon if the problem persists.

I am 36 years old woman. I am suffering from cervical spondylosis from the past few years. My neck areas remain stiff. And when I study for long or sit at computer then I experience stiffness which spreads from neck to upper areas like nerve stiffness. Is there any remedy. Kindly suggest me. Also suggest me some calcium rich diets.

Backacke can be due to numerous reasons like back strain, big tummy, slip disc, lumber spondylosis. For best treatment please send an x ray image & consult privately. Till then you can do following home remedies: 1) mix camphor in coconut oil and boil it. Massage it followed by hot fomentation. 2) have turmeric & honey milk. 3) put a hot-water bag on back supported by a cushion. 4) add ginger while brewing your tea 5) if you are overweight, go for weight loss program 6) stay away from cold, go for hot water baths.

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).
