Keeping your mouth moist is very important. If, because of taking medicines your mouth feels dry, try increasing your fluid intake or  using an artifical saliva product or chewing a sugarless gum after a meal so as to keep your mouth from dryness and generate moisture.

Bad breath can be due to accumulation of plaque on teeth, decay, bad digestion, sore throat, dry mouth, consumption of caffeinated or aerated beverages n alcoholic drinks. Go for scaling and polishing of teeth. Use mouthwash twice daily after brushing. Maintain proper oral hygiene. Increase your water intake.

There are multiple scenarios where a person can get recurrent mouth ulcers. Most common being trauma, vegan diet, stress and many more. So it's best that you see your dentist to figure out the cause and get the underlying problem treated. For symptomatic relief, apply dologel before brushing and eating. Good luck.

I just removed my tooth but it's base is still there as the dentist is unable to extract it because of excessive pain. So if still left there does it cause any harm in future.

I just removed my tooth but it's base is still there as the dentist is unable to extract it because of excessive pain...
Dear Lybrate User, By base you mean to say that the remaining tooth or root structure (a root stump to be precise!) has been left behind by you dentist while extracting the tooth. Now if the tooth was already infected, leaving the tooth or root fragment like that might call for infection and pain in the future. If the dentist has left the last bit of the root inside which is not loose and accessible, it might be left in-situ. You need the dentist to take an X-Ray of the remaining tooth or root to determine its precise location. For all practical purposes, if you do not have any symptoms, you may defer the extraction but if you have lingering pain or any infection, you MUST get the remaining portion extracted by some more specialised dentist like an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. Take Care!

Hello, broken teeth may be due to many reasons, either injury, cavitation, etc. Broken teeth may repaired by root canals, post and core and finally placing a crown. For all this you need to visit your nearest dentist as he/she will be in better situation to clinically access the situation.

There is a fungal infection in my mouth since 2 months, what can I do in home to reslove this.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Oral thrush is a fungal infection which occurs due to dry mouth, uncontrolled diabetes, weak immune system or patient on corticosteroids. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need candid ointment until then. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical. Strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal.
