Hi, doctor I live in delhi & I am 34yr old female person. I have a tremor problem for last 4 months. What should I do?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Neurologist,
Parkinson' s disease-kampavata (a neurological disorder) parkinson' s disease is a neurological disease, or brain disorder, that leads to progressive difficulty with balance and coordination. In people who have parkinson' s disease, nerve cells in a region of the brain known as the substantia nigra become damaged or die. These cells are important because they produce the chemical dopamine, which helps to coordinate body movement-basal ganglia. When dopamine-producing cells degenerate/die, the areas in the brain that control movement can no longer function properly, and symptoms of parkinson' s disease eventually develop. Parkinson? s disease prevalence:- parkinson' s disease can affect anyone, but it most often occurs in people who are over the age of 50. Only 15 percent of parkinson' s disease patients are diagnosed before they are 50 years old. The prevalence of parkinson' s disease is nearly the same in both men and women, and recovery rate is more in men. People with a family history of parkinson' s may have a higher risk of developing the disease, but parkinson' s disease is rarely attributed to genetics alone. Parkinson' s disease symptoms symptoms of parkinson' s disease usually develop after about 80 percent of the brain' s dopamine-producing cells are lost. The main symptoms of parkinson' s disease include? tremors(kampam)- tremulousness (uncontrolled shaking or trembling) of the hands, arms, legs, face, body is often one of the first indicators of parkinson' s disease? rigidity. Profound stiffness or an inability to easily move the arms, legs, and trunk, pain and stiffness on neck muscles is another hallmark of parkinson' s? bradykinesia:- describes the unnaturally slow movements that are characteristic of people with parkinson' s disease? poor balance- parkinson' s disease affects balance, leading to difficulty walking and impaired coordination. The symptoms of parkinson' s are generally mild at first, but become more severe over time, until they eventually interfere with your daily routine. This is usually the point when treatment is recommended. The outlook for people with parkinson' s disease parkinson' s disease is a chronic, progressive condition, which means it is a lifelong disease that worsens over time when it is not treated properly. Each individual' s situation is different, but in general, the first symptoms of parkinson' s disease usually don' t require treatment and may be restricted to one area or one side of the body. Movement of symptoms to the other side of the body? tremors that become more pronounced and interfere with activities? bradykinesia, or slow movement, that becomes disabling? difficulty with hand writing? impaired swallowing and chewing? speech that becomes monotone? poor balance and repeated falls? slow, shuffling gait (manner of walking)? stooped posture? facial expressions that become stiff and blank? chronic constipation? poor bladder control? sleep disturbances this progression is gradual in most people, but it may happen faster in some than others. Understandably, stress caused by the progression of the disease can lead to anxiety and depression. Ayurveda treatment: there is cure for parkinson' s disease with ayurveda treatment, with ayurveda medicines and treatments we can relieve symptoms, slow down the progression and then we can completely arrest further degeneration of the of the cells, thereby we can completely control and cure the disease. If you are diagnosed with parkinson' s disease, it is important to work closely with your medical team, so your medications can be regularly adjusted to help you remain as functional as possible for as long as possible. As far as parkinson' s disease is concerned this is a brain related issue, so will surely effect the mind; so I recommend 49% treatment to patients and 51% treatment to family members.

My mother suffered with brain stroke affects right leg + right hand + speech issue is also there. please suggest me what to do?

MD - Medicine, Diploma in Diabetology, MBBS
General Physician, Malda
Unfortunately effects of brain stroke doesn't resolve rapidly. It takes time. To speed up the recovery a proper rehabilitation routine must be followed. It involves regular physiotherapy, speech therapy and most importantly family and social support. Avoid massaging the involved side, it does more harm than good.

Migraine cannot be cured. Avoid triggers. If certain foods or odors seem to have triggered your migraines in the past, avoid them. Reduce your caffeine and alcohol intake and avoid tobacco. In general, establish a daily routine with regular sleep patterns and regular meals. In addition, try to control stress. Exercise regularly. Regular aerobic exercise reduces tension and can help prevent migraines. If your doctor agrees, choose any aerobic exercise you enjoy, including walking, swimming and cycling. Warm up slowly, however, because sudden, intense exercise can cause headaches. Obesity is also thought to be a factor in migraine headaches, and regular exercise can help you maintain a healthy weight or lose weight.

Hi i am Sex Female. I am 36 years old. 3 years ago, I am suffering from Brain thrombosis which called Lakwa (One Side weakness) Paralysis. Now is OK. But Monthly Report PT INR continuous 1.79 to 2.30. I have consult by a doctor at Thane. But Problem is PT INR fluctuation Rate. So I request you So what is the prevention of PT INR fluctuation Ratio. This Time Precaution Tab 4 mg Five times & 5 Mg Two times.

DNB (Neurosurgery) , DNB (General Surgery)
Neurosurgeon,
Reply: the fluctuation of the pt inr is common. This is due to the variation in the body metabolism and food habits. In order to maintain a pt inr of 2.5 times the normal which in your case seems to be in range, a fluctuation of the tablets is necessary. If your symptoms have improved and you have continued this medication for almost 3 years, you may do a mri with Mr. Venogram and re-assess whether the thrombus is completely resolved. In case, the thrombus is resolved and you are not prone for repeated thrombotic attacks, the tablets can be tapered and stopped. In order to give complete details and treatment schedule, you need to provide all the previous details of the problems, the symptoms, the case records, the imaging and the management strategy till date. Please enlist/name the foods and activities that can trigger a migraine attack. Also please tell if there is any treatment for chronic migraines. I am suffering from migraine for about 17 years.

Peanuts, soya, walnuts, deep fried food, reused oil, mustard oil, sour and spicy food, fermented food are some of the common triggers for migraine. Sun exposure, looking at bright light, irregular food habits are some of the activities that cause migraine yes ayurveda has treatment for chronic migraine. We initially reduce the frequency and the intensity of attacks and then finally cure it. This requires co operation from your side too in terms of following the prescribed diet and lifestyle modifications internal medications will be prescribed in addition to a therapy called nasya - where a few drops of medicated oil is instilled through the nostrils.

Surgery For Parkinson's Disease - Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)

MBBS, MHS, MD - Neurology (USA), Fellowship in Epilepsy, Clinical Attachment in Movement disorders
Neurologist,
Surgery For Parkinson's Disease - Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)

Brain Surgery for treating Parkinson's diease is called Deep Brain Stimulation, or DBS.

If your symptoms are well controlled with medications, no doctor in their right mind would recommend you to have surgery. But in a few patients, medications no longer is pushed into a very particular part of the produce adequate improvement. Either the improvement lasts for a very short time, or the medication produces such dramatic dyskinesias that giving an adequate dose is impossible. Approximately, 70% of such patients benefit  kept in the skin below the chest. No part from this surgery.

The improvement is very significant, but DBS does not make all symptoms of Parkinson’s disease magically disappear. It is very important to have realistic expectations from the surgery. The improvement seen after surgery is not the same for every patient. On an average, patients get 5 extra hours of good functioning during which time they can walk, talk, go around and – in general – have a better life. The 5 “good” hours may not seem like much. But when you consider the fact that these patients frequently don’t even have 4 hours of good functioning before the surgery, it represents a major improvement in their quality of life.

DBS SURGICAL PROCEDURE - how is this surgery done?

This is a brain surgery, but a relatively minor one. A metal frame is usually attached to the patient’s head. A very small hole (approximately 1 cm in diameter) is made in the head, and a thin (1 to 1.5 mm thick) wire is inserted through it. The wire brain called the “sub-thalamic nucleus”.

The same process is repeated on the other side and another small wire is inserted. These wires are then connected to a small battery (a square of approx. 3 inch) that is of this device can be seen from the outside, and any scars on the head are usually covered by hair in a few weeks. The device is usually turned on 4 weeks after the surgery. On an average, most batteries last about 5 years, and can be replaced when required. Consult an Expert & get answers to your questions!

Continue medicines, reasons for blockages in heart or brain or in rest of the body are same and it's called plaque, starts with inflammation within blood vessels due to wrong eating habits. Non veg food can be taken in little amounts but only if steamed or grilled, no animal fats soaking in it, but masala like black pepper and chat masala are okay. Reduce her salt despite bp under control. Take lemon juice and honey added to it on empty stomach every morning. Besides reducing weight it helps to protect heart and blood vessels. Give her lots of seasonal vegetables and fruits plus eating according to constitution. Take more proteins like milk and curds. All of the supplements for proteins which she likes. Walking is simple exercise that helps you to reduce sugar and lipids and clear blood vessels of blockages. Stay positive. Stay occupied.
