I feel pain in left side of groin area often in mornings and while having a walk. I only get relieved after resting for sometime. I consulted a urology doctor, treatment did not work. My prostate is normal. I want to know whether it is a neurological, orthopedic, or related to urology. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Respected lybrate-user hi your case requires clinical evaluation dear but from your presentation I assume it could be muscular / developing hernia / small ureteric stone in few cases. I will advise to get an ultrasonography of abdomen pelvis done. Thanks regards.

What is the problem ofcanser and what are the causes for this and how can we care about this? Please give required answer for above this and what arep the causes of blood cancer and what is the solution for this? Please give sufficient answer?

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Cancer is generally caused by abnormal uncontrolled growth of cells usually triggered by some carcinogens like tobacco alcohol pollution pesticides radiation exposure industrial affluent etc the cells become autonomous and uncontrolled and grow uncontrolled. We must avoid carcinogens and consume healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Blood cancer is caused by abnormal uncontrolled proliferation of one of the components of blood, mostly due to change in genes. Treatment is done by chemotherapy.

My mother has breast cancer. Her chemotherapy is going on. It is known to us that during the period of chemotherapy there is a chance of muscle pain. She sometimes suffers from that. It isn't possible to bring a physician every time. So I've to serve her. What should be the best way to give her a physiotherapy to reduce her muscle pain for that time. Please suggest something.

MD - Radiation Oncology, MBBS, DNB (Radiotherapy)
Oncologist, Howrah
Chemotherapy drugs such as paclitaxel or docetaxel may cause myalgia , arthralgia for few days after each cycle. Depending on the severity use of analgesics for few days will be helpful.

I am 77 years old suffering from enlarged prostrate, though the frequency of urination is absolutely normal and at night also it is once on some days. Psa at present is 11.25 what should be done.

MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
I think you should go for cystoscopy or tranrectal usg. Consult a urologist and if he finds any abnormality he can suggest you biopsy. But these conditions can better be understand by a urologist.

My sister age 49 operated for ovarian cancer in may 2015 than six cycle of chemo ended in oct 2015 ca .ca125 in july was 120 .now it is 8600. Pet is ok.

Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS), MS - General Surgery, MBBS
General Surgeon, Mohali
Rise in Ca-125 is a worrying factor. I am surprised the Pet-CT is normal. I think one of the 2 reports is wrong. Get the Pet-CT re-reported. Get Ca-125 repeated. If still same reports wait for a month and get Ca-125 repeated. If coming down or normal-then nothing to be done. If rising further chemotherapy with or without Pet-CT.

Renal Cysts - Can They Develop Into Cancer?

MBBS, MD - General Medicine, DM - Nephrology, DNB (Nephrology)
Nephrologist, Delhi
Renal Cysts - Can They Develop Into Cancer?

Simple renal cysts are often found even in normal kidneys. In fact, they are so common that they are rarely considered as a disease. Certain lifestyle traits or genetics can be the cause of renal cysts occurring in adults as well as children, though no conclusive reasons have yet been confirmed for the occurrence of the same. Medical imaging technology such as ultrasound, X-ray, and CT scanning are being extensively used to discover these lesions.

In various surveys of people undergoing ultrasound for evaluation of non-kidney-related problems, generally 15% men and 7% women over the age of 50 were detected with renal cysts. Once the radiologic imaging of the cyst is obtained, the doctor can determine what further examination will be required.

There are basically two types of renal cysts, simple and complex.

  • Simple cysts are usually round, have a thin outer wall, are filled with fluid and are rarely required to be treated.
  • Complex cysts, however, can have thicker walls with solidified mass or can also be a collection of small cysts. These are definitely required to be examined further as they can be cancerous.

With the latest radiological approach to renal cysts, i.e. the Bosniak classification, observation of lesions is preferred to biopsy. Even though biopsies nowadays are largely non-intrusive, they are still recommended under very specific circumstances.

This classification uses a complicated algorithm of CT scan features like size, density and perfusion and places cystic renal masses into one of the five different categories. Categories I and II are generally simple cysts, not requiring further analysis. Still, an ultrasound is repeated at intervals of 6-12 months to ensure that the cyst is not growing. However, Bosniak category IIF cysts indicate complex cysts which are required to be observed. Lack of change with time indicates that the mass is benign, while any increase indicates the possibility of cancer. Through observation, one can prevent unnecessary surgeries.

It is mostly recommended that lesions falling under Bosniak III category should be immediately surgically removed as 40-50% have the possibility of becoming cancerous. However, close follow-up with magnetic resonance imaging can be used to avoid unnecessary surgeries as it is useful for characterizing the internal content of a cyst which may be is indeterminate even after the ultrasound and CT scan. Category IV lesions necessarily require surgical removal of the kidney, as nearly 85-100% of these are cancerous. More than 90% of those diagnosed with renal cancer which is confined to the kidney can hope to become disease-free within five years after diagnosis.

Thus, complex renal cysts have a higher possibility of developing into cancer if they are found to be malignant during the period of observation and steps should be taken for immediate removal. Consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Dear, since doctor has already seen it you should undergo the investigation. It may be only a benign growth which needs to be removed. Cancer is a remote possiblity unless proven otherwise.
