Hello doctor. My partner licked my genital area around two weeks back. But no sex. immediately same day I experienced pain for two days .And after two experienced burning sensation. But no discharge. I did urine test which showed 2-4 leukocytes and 6-8 epithelial cells. I showed doc. But she said no needcto worry and gave tab omnicef. Since than pain is not there but slight burning sensation when you pee. So I am worried about This. As std tests are too costly. If not Why did I have immediate pain.

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine & Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Haldwani
Hello- Chances of receiving STD during oral sex are very rare as you were passive partner. The pain can be due to aggressive approach during licking. Nothing to worry, give your genitals some rest, it will cure itself.

Hello. Redness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic. (4) raised intraocular pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the coats of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. If you are sure that you have infection in the eye, then it would be a good idea to use an antibiotic eye drops along with a lubricant eye drops. Refrain from touching your eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. Keep washing your eye daily 4-5 times with clean hands and clean water in a gentle manner. If you are not sure that it is an infection, it would be a better idea to get your eyes assessed by an ophthalmic surgeon in person. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care.

My daughter is 2 month old. She had hemangioma other scalp (head). Many doctors advice that it will start to gone automatically after 1 year of her age. Is there any medicine or treatment without surgery? Is it curable within one or two month (5 month of her age). Please help me.

Treatment for infantile hemangiomas should be individualized depending upon the size, location, presence of complications, potential for scarring, the age of the patient, the rate of growth or involution at the time of evaluation, the potential risks and benefits of treatment. Treatment is usually required for complicated hemangiomas that may interfere with a vital structure or function and for lesions at increased risk of ulceration, scarring, and disfigurement. Masterly active nonintervention for uncomplicated hemangiomas that are not disfiguring. Active nonintervention requires regular monitoring of the lesion. Some have tried topical beta blocker like timol for anxious parents, who respond but stopping the treatment may have some rebound effect. Oral propranolol is the first-line agent for the treatment of complicated hemangiomas with the potential to impair function or cause disfigurement eg, periorbital hemangiomas. Systemic steroids, vincristine, and interferon alfa are alternative agents for aggressive hemangiomas but are rarely needed since the advent of propranolol. Children with periorbital hemangiomas should be evaluated by an ophthalmologist. Oral propranolol in addition to dressings and appropriate painkillers for the treatment of ulcerated hemangiomas that may cause permanent disfigurement, interfere with daily life activities, or do not respond to dressings. If you want to discuss this further, feel free to contact me directly.

My wife is 57 yrs old and she has been diagnosised as" dilated cardiomyopathy" patient. As per echo, the pumping rate is only 25 percent. On taking angiogram, no blocks have been noticed. She is a sugar patient as well as asthma. She also has bp. Apart from medicines, whether there is anything required to be done? how to get the pumping rate to the required level?

MD - Medicine, MBBS
Cardiologist, Panchkula
Cardiomyopathy is weakness of cardiac muscles. When the blockage in the cardiac vessels has been ruled out it can be manged with drugs. Although a normal ef may not be achieved but it can be significantly improved with medicines.
