My father had a fall 3 months ago on the road and he had a surface head injury. Immediately I had him hospitalized. CT scan was normal. His BP had dropped but with drip it was back to normal. But he has constantly been reporting Vertigo. We have had multiple sessions with a Neurosurgeon who reported everything normal. What is the next course of action.

The most common cause of vertigo after a fall or trauma in elderly is bppv (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo). If the vertigo is more on turning in bed or getting up from bed and lasts for few seconds to minutes, then this could be his diagnosis. A simple positional test by an ent can confirm this followed by some exercises which can solve the problem.

Hi. It looks like the throat infection has spread to the ears. Try to keep ear dry and use antibiotic ear drops. She may need a ent check for the status of her ear drum and hearing.

I'm a 37 years old, female. I have been having blocked ears for 2 weeks plus now and hardly can hear anything except my own voice most of the time. And that emptiness sound. History: - Developed sore throat. - Then dry cough with mild phlegm. - Developed pain in right ear. - Saw normal doctor. Gave me cough mixture, wax drop, flu medi, pain killers and antibiotics. - After 2 days, pain started in left ear as well and slowly started to have ear blocked on both sides. - Suffered terrible pain throughout. - Saw another doc, gave me new antibiotic and cough mixture with a new ear drops as ears were clear from wax. Looks mildly infected. - Took them. No changes. Day by day level of hearing deteriorated. Pain was on and off. If it comes, it will be very painful. - Went to see ENT specialist, who said nothing much can be seen, could be fluid but no swelling. So gave a nasal spray and asked me to continue the same antibiotics. - Days passed and hardly could hear much and pain started to travel behind be ears, headache, heavy head. - Saw another specialist who did the audiogram test and microscope. - He suggested immediate aspiration but I refused as I wasn't sure. So, he gave augmentin 1g, nasal spray and chewing gum. If no difference over next 4-5 days, he said then have to do aspiration as it will affect my ears further. - Kindly advice. Is an audiogram (frequency cycle per second) test and Impedance audiometry test the same?

Audiogram measures hearing in decibel at different frequency impedance audiometry measures the pressure behind ear drum. You seem to have otitis media with effusion it can be confirmed by impedance audiometry. Do not use ear drops as there is no ear discharge. The severity of the disease needs to assessed to decide on the need for surgical treatment.

Facial paralysis due to injury of the nerve during ear surgery is anot an uncommon complication. If its 8 years now, spontaneous recovery is not possible. You will have to undergo surgery for facial reanimation. Procedures like. Lid loading for eye closure and sling procedures to restore your smile.

This pain is because of your jaw joint which lies infront of the ear. It can be because of improper dentition or bite. You may be suffering from temporomandibular joint arthritis. Take any pain killer for temporary relief. Consult a ent or dental for examination.

This is mostly because of age related changes in your auditory nerves. Called presbyacusis. Diabetes can aggravate the condition you need to do a hearing test depending on the loss. Hearing aid may help you. It can also reduce the buzzing in your ears by masking the sound.
