My wife is 55 and she complains back pain below shoulder joint and both side of chest ribs.
Hi I can understand your problem 1) avoid activities that make your symptoms worse 2) apply hot packs 3) start physiotherapy treatment as electrotherapy will reduce pain inflammation 4) exercise and manual therapy will help in pain free movement. Describe your problem in detail and do share related reports and prescription if you have. Best wishes.

Slip disc is one of the causes of pain in spine. Stiffness & pain in back & other joints is quite a common condition. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do ask for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

I have a serious back pain from past few days due to which I am not able to sleep correctly?

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
I have a serious back pain from past few days due to which I am not able to sleep correctly?
Here are some tips for how to handle your back pain: -while sleeping, try lying in a curled-up, fetal position with a pillow between your legs. If you usually sleep on your back, place a pillow or rolled towel under your knees to relieve pressure. -find a mattress with back support. A good mattress should provide support for the natural curves and alignment of the spine. Medium-firm mattresses usually provide more back pain relief than firm mattresses. -do not perform activities that involve heavy lifting or twisting of your back -avoid bending forward and sitting in a place for long time --apply heat or ice to the painful area. One good method is to use ice for the first 48 to 72 hours, and then use heat. Take pain relievers medicine. -stretching and strengthening exercises are important. -a physiotherapist can tell you when to begin stretching and strengthening exercises and how to do them. Best wishes.

Grade 2 signal in medial meniscus in my father's left knee? what should be done?

MS - Orthopaedics, MBBS
Orthopedist,
Grade 2 signal in medial meniscus in my father's left knee? what should be done?
It must be investigated. Get a MRI of the knee. You would probably need arthroscopic knee surgery. It is a very safe procedure in our hands with uniformly good results. We have very good well equipped center in DELHI. Do ask for detailed treatment plan. Don’t ignore it lest it become beginning of a bigger problem

I've been playing cricket from last one month and my knee is playing severely while running What to do please help.
Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

Aching joints are among the most common health complaints, and they can happen for reasons too numerous to count. If you, like me, suffer from the occasional twinge in the knee or feel your elbows demanding some tlc after hours of slogging at the desk, I have some advice that will bring you relief. I have tried each one of these, and felt better each time. The good news is, these remedies require very little effort, and yield great results. Feast on carrots: did you know that carrots have been used for centuries in chinese medicine as an effective remedy for aching joints? simply grate a carrot in a bowl, and squeeze some lemon juice on it. Enjoy raw or steamed. Carrot nurtures the ligaments, bringing relief from pain. Munch on fenugreek seeds: my grandmother? s favorite remedy for joint ache. She would soak a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in clean water overnight. In the morning, she would drain off the water and munch on the seeds. They taste slightly bitter to begin with, then slowly and pleasantly sweeten as you chew. According to ancient indian healers, fenugreek is? warm? in nature, which makes it helpful in healing your joints. Drink more water: among the lesser-known benefits of drinking more water is that it softens cartilage and keeps it hydrated. Water helps you maintain an adequate blood volume so that nutrients can move through your blood and into your joints. It also moves waste away from your joints, making them less likely to ache aching joints are among the most common health complaints, and they can happen for reasons too numerous to count. Knee joint pain is usually due to osteoarthritis, which occurs in most old aged persons due to damage to cartilage in the joint. Pain killers and anti inflammatory drugs do give some relief but it will not be permanent. If diabetes is diagnosed please take care that sugar levels are well controlled by proper treatment. Because uncontrolled diabetes can also contribute joint problems particularly in shoulders.

Goodevening mam I gone through your question. What I feel would help your mother is to first of all get treated for the back pain. Please do a session of ift and ultrasound treatment physiotherapy for about 10 days. Then her pain should come down gradually. It will take about 5 to 7 days for the pain to come down. There will be a couple of exercises to follow after that. The exercises may vary beacuse of the gap that you have between your discs. Do not worry her pain will come down gradually and then she should feel better. Her walking pattern will change only if her pain comes down.
