I am 41 years old female and a diabetic patient for the past 12 years. My present medicines are okra 10 once in a day. Triposmeal 2 mg 3 in a day .tendia 20 once in a day and telmax 50 one per day. I am worried about the heavy dose of my medicine. How can I bring down my diabetes and blood pressure without these strong medication. Please give me a reply.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. You have mentioned about the medicines being taken, but there is no mention about the blood glucose readings (fasting, PP & HbA1c%) and also about BP. So it is difficult to give any opinion. The medicines given are all normal average ones used for most of the diabetic and high BP patients. There is nothing like "strong medicines" These are all very well tolerated and are with minimal side effects. If you want to control diabetes and BP then there is no option but take these drugs. Plus observe strict diet controla and exercise daily. Thanks.

Signs, Symptoms and Diagnosis of Jaundice

MBBS, MD - General Medicine
General Physician, Gurgaon
Signs, Symptoms and Diagnosis of Jaundice

Jaundice is a medical condition, which is characterized by the yellow coloring of the skin and eyes. It generally occurs when there is an excess of bilirubin in your system. Bilirubin is a yellow pigment formed in the liver by the breakdown of red blood cells. It normally gets discharged by the liver along with other dead red blood cells. So if you are suffering from jaundice, it usually indicates that you have some serious problems regarding the functioning of your liver, pancreas, or gallbladder.

Signs and symptoms:
Signs and symptoms commonly associated with jaundice include:

  1. Yellow-tinted eyes and skin
  2. The whites of your eyes may turn orange or brown in color
  3. Dark urine
  4. Pale stools
  5. High fatigue and vomiting (in severe cases)

Causes:
Jaundice, as mentioned above, occurs when there is an excess of bilirubin and the liver is incapable of metabolizing it along with the old red blood cells. It is more common in infants than in adults, because their livers are not fully developed. However, it is also a frequent occurrence in adults and could be a potential sign of any of the following problems:

  1. Liver infection
  2. Scarring of the liver, or cirrhosis
  3. Hepatitis
  4. Alcohol abuse
  5. Liver cancer
  6. Gallstones
  7. Pancreatic cancer
  8. Blood disorders, like hemolytic anemia
  9. Parasites in the liver
  10. Abnormal reactions to or overdose of medication

Diagnosis:
Diagnostic tests may include:

  1. Jaundice is diagnosed primarily by taking blood tests, to help measure the amount of bilirubin as well as to trace the presence of other diseases like Hepatitis.
  2. Liver function tests in order to make comparisons between levels of certain proteins and enzymes when the liver is in good shape and when it is damaged.
  3. Liver biopsies, where samples of liver tissue are first extracted and later examined under a microscope.
  4. Imaging studies, consisting of abdominal ultrasounds, computed tomography scans and magnetic resonance images (MRI) tests.

I take istamet twice daily after breakfast and dinner as advised by doctor and offcourse morning and evening walk, climbing stairs etc plus diet control My question is that should I stop istamet or reduce it to one tablet in place of two tablets daily and keep check on my sugar level.

Istamet is not the right type of medicine to de-escalate since you are having such a good sugar control by diet and exercise. The correct way forward should be to stop istamet altogether and just give you Metformin (which is present in Istamet). I believe you would do well on Metformin alone.

Can I drink gulucon d before morning running for energy I wake at 6 am and go for running 7 am please help me out.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), MD - Ayurveda

Dear lybrate-user, It is nice that you follow a healthy regimen. Glucon D has Glucose and it can provide an instant energy for your muscles during exercise. The only negative here is that normally during running etc, you tend to sweat more, so along with glucose, some electrolytes are also essential. May be some salt in glucon d would be beneficial. Also instead of drinking and running, you can look at carrying the drink with you.

Please suggest. How to take vitamin a in keto diet? Is supplement required in keto diet.
Supplements are necessary in a keto diet since intake of vegetables are restricted and only selective veggies are permitted. Moreover these nutrients esp the electrolytes are also necessary to overcome the carbflu.

Eat a high-fiber diet. Get insoluble and soluble fiber. Limit foods that are high in fat. Choose lean meats. Incorporate probiotics into your diet. Eat on schedule. Stay hydrated. Skip the bad habits: smoking and avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol. Get your haemoglobin checked and revert.

Lybrate-user resons could be numerous: 1 first of all you did not mention your age so difficult to access 2 from symptoms point of view it could be linked to menopause 3 that could be simple panic attack as people used to have that type of panic attacks esp those are sensitive and under stress for quite some times. 4 go for cardiac check up 5 maintain your general / standard parameters like level of sugar/ b pressure/ cholestrol and above all take a health package to rule out any underlying cause. 6 eat healthy, nutritious diet and do exercise/walk/yoga and enjoy the company of others instead to isolation or cutting / stay away from social circle.
