Kindly suggest on piles surgery method.
Staple or laser. Which is good and latest.
The latest management for Piles is stapled Haemorrdectomy (MIPH). It's a minimally invasive procedure. So no cutting of piles mass is needed. MIPH is associated with less pain, faster recovery better patient acceptability. There is another minimally invasive procedure known as Doppler Hemorrhidal artery ligation but it is not available everywhere. MIPH can be done as a daycare procedure. Laser Piles management is not widely accepted as its associated with anal canal stricter.

If it is becoming severe then please go to a doctor. Till then have lots of water and fluids. Do warm water gargling with a little salt in it. Take some steam inhalation (2-3 times a day) which will give relief to the congestion. You can take Homeopathy if you have a tendency to catch cold throughout the year (allergic condition ). You can contact me for a detailed consultation.

Dear Lybrate user. Phimosis is a congenital narrowing of the opening of the foreskin so that it cannot be retracted. Phimosis is a very common problem. In most of the cases you can clear the problem yourself. Apply oil on your foreskin and on the glans. Move the foreskin forward and back slowly without hurting you much. Because the oil is lubricant, it will be easier than without oil. Do this forward and back movement 20 times several times in a day. Repeat the same every day for around one month. You will get the elasticity and you will be able to retract the foreskin completely. Take care.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. MASTURBATION is normal, natural and never unhealthy. But Excess masturbation can kill your sexual stamina. Excess masturbation can also cause anxiety disorder, depression and thereby erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation etc. You can be sure; there are no side effects to masturbation if you are able to restrict it to thrice a week. Jogging and physical exercise are always good to keep you fit and stop worrying about sex and allied thinking. I suggest online sex counseling and therapy. Take care.

He had a serious heart attack at last week. Now he is fine. What is the chance of 2nd attack ?
These factors increase your risk for another heart attack: inactive lifestyle being overweight or obese high cholesterol high blood sugar, if you have diabetes high blood pressure smoking excess stress metal stents, devices placed into an artery to keep the vessel open, have been used in lieu of balloon angioplasty to treat patients with coronary artery disease (cad) for about 15 years, due to their better long-term patency. Nonetheless, with conventional (" bare metal") stents, there may be a disease recurrence rate of at least 20% to 30% due to scar tissue formation within the stent. Much research has been done to try to prevent this scar tissue formation. In the past decade, newer metal stents coated with medication to prevent scar tissue formation have become widely available. These stents have reduced the recurrence (" restenosis") rate of coronary artery disease to well under 10%. These percentages are vlid only if you take proper precautions to avoid risk factors for heart attack as mentioned above and you keep taking your prescribed medicines regularly.

Vitamin E

Vitamin e

Vitamin e is key for strong immunity and healthy skin and eyes. In recent years, vitamin e supplements have become popular as antioxidants. These are substances that protect cells from damage. However, the risks and benefits of taking vitamin e supplements are still unclear.

Why do people take vitamin e:
Many people use vitamin e supplements in the hopes that the vitamin's antioxidant properties will prevent or treat disease. But studies of vitamin e for preventing cancer, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, cataracts, and many other conditions have been inconclusive.

So far, the only established benefits of vitamin e supplements are in people who have an actual deficiency. Vitamin e deficiencies are rare. They're more likely to people who have diseases, such as digestive problems and cystic fibrosis. People on very low-fat diets may also have low levels of vitamin e.

The recommended dietary allowance (rda) includes the vitamin e you get from both the food you eat and any supplements you take.

Category

Vitamin e (alpha-tocopherol): recommended dietary allowance (rda)
In milligrams (mg) and international units (iu)

Children

6 mg/day (9 iu)

Females

Breastfeeding

19 mg/day (28.5 iu)

Males

14 years and up

15 mg/day (22.4 iu)

The tolerable upper intake levels of a supplement are the highest amount that most people can take safely. Higher doses might be used to treat vitamin e deficiencies. But you should never take more unless a doctor says so.

Good sources of vitamin e include:
Vegetable oils
Green leafy vegetables, like spinach
Fortified cereals and other foods
Eggs
Nuts

Risks of taking vitamin e:

The risks and benefits of taking vitamin e are still unclear. Long-term use (over 10 years) of vitamin e has been linked to an increase in stroke.

In addition, an analysis of clinical trials found patients who took either synthetic vitamin e or natural vitamin e in doses of 400 iu per day -- or higher -- had an increased risk of dying from all causes, which seems to increase even more at higher doses. Cardiovascular studies also suggest that patients with diabetes or cardiovascular disease who take natural vitamin e at 400 iu per day have an increased risk of heart failure and heart failure-related hospitalization.

Vitamin e supplements might be harmful when taken in early pregnancy. One study found that women who took vitamin e supplementation during the first 8 weeks of pregnancy had a 1.7 to nine-fold increase in congenital heart defects. The exact amount of vitamin e supplements used by pregnant women in this study is unknown.

A large population study showed that men using a multivitamin more than seven times per week in conjunction with a separate vitamin e supplement actually had a significantly increased risk of developing prostate cancer.

I am a health freak, and go to the gym regularly, day before yesterday I did leg extension and leg press exercises in the gym which created some amount of pain in my legs, l. Today I wasn't feeling good so I went to our local doctor (anti-biotic). He said that I have 101.3 viral and I also told him I've been feeling weak and there is pain in my head and a bit in chest. I don't have any cough or cold just simple viral and pain. Then I told him I've had serious pain in my legs for the past day so I asked him "is it because I've done leg exercises in gym or does it come with the viral? I've been having leg pain before I caught viral so he told me that I might be having chikungunya, or just a normal viral. He just mentioned that chikungunya is also happening to people these days, and lastly he said that since I have leg pain before the viral then I would be having normal viral. So he gave me some medicine and for viral and headaches and some painkillers for my leg. My question to anyone who reads this is :- * what are the symptoms of chikungunya? * is my leg pain is because of chikungunya? Or just regular pain that happens to everyone who does leg exercises? * how much time does it take to get rid of leg pain after painkillers? * if I have only viral and not chikungunya then how much time will it take for my legs to get normal. (because I raised 140 kgs of weight on my legs 15 times a set and in total 4 sets. And same in leg extension) Any response would be highly appreciated. Thank You.

It's normal for the leg muscles to get sore and pain most probably is from exercising, However such heavy weight lifting can also increase the body temperature. It will take 48-72 hours for the pain to go automatically. Keep taking simple crocin for fever. And return to gym once you settle down.
