I had a c-section its been 7 months now. I am 80 kgs but I used to be 50 kgs I want to reduce it as fast as I can. Nw I am breastfeeding. What type of exercise and diet should I maintain. I have not started anything. Bcoz I am kind scared about my operation.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
•Keep a food diary. Writing down everything you eat is critical! Noting how you feel when you eat will help you identify emotional triggers that may cause you to overeat. Emotional eaters tend to overeat. •Eat when you're truly hungry rather than when you're tired, anxious or stressed. •Eat slowly. If you eat too fast, you eat more than you need to satisfy your hunger. Your brain needs time to catch up with your stomach. •Plan your meals ahead of time so you make healthy choices. When dining out, check the menu online and decide what you will order before you sit down. Ask for dressings on the side. Opt for foods that are baked, broiled or steamed versus fried or swimming in creamy sauces. Avoid chips and bread baskets—they add unnecessary calories. •Stay hydrated. People often mistake thirst for hunger. •Eat breakfast. If you skip this meal, you'll be starving by lunchtime. You'll have more difficulty making healthy choices throughout the day. You need to have diet plan based on your BMI & activities. Whatever we eat is metabolised by the body for the energy needed to do daily work and the excess is stored as fat. Abdomen is the first place to gain weight and last to disappear. In brief, Weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. And by appropriate exercise plans for each part like belly, thighs, legs / chest etc. To burn off fat. Some tips 1) Drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) Take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take 1/2 of your total diet as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. And do aerobic exercises, running, jogging or at least walking briskly 3-5 KMs and swimming if possible, and in a gym if feasible. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise & dieting to take just as mush food as needed for your activities. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity. It is better to do some tests. One pound equals 3,500 calories. If you cut 500 a day from your diet, you'll lose a pound a week. People who lose weight slowly, about 1 to 2 pounds per week, are more successful at keeping the weight off. You'll also burn additional calories if you increase your physical activity. You weight-loss plan should do all of the following: •Emphasize fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat dairy products. •Include lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts. •Contain foods low in saturated fats, avoid trans fats, and limit cholesterol and salt (sodium). •Avoid refined sugars and processed foods.

I am going to get marry in few months. During first time intercourse whether she feel pain and bleeding? Is it common thing? How to avoid such conditions. Also let me to know whether I too feel paining on that time. Kindly help to know the real circumstances pls. Thank you.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
During first intercourse usually female they bleed but it is not the rule. There will be pain for her for initial few days, but that should not be the concern as it is not that severe to worry. Male partner does not have any pain. Bleeding which she will have will be mild, and will subside immediately.

Hello Sir/Maam, I'm Binaka Saha, F23, was suffering from irregular menstrual cycles for 2 months, consulted to a gynaecologist for this, as per her prescription, I had taken MEPRATE Tab 10piece and after that, my period started from yesterday but after this, it was very painful. And also as per her prescription, I had tasted my USG lower abandon and the report is as below - Right ovary is large in size, Left ovary is normal in size, Multiple tiny cysts are noted at periphery of both ovaries, stroma are hyperechoic. Right Overy measures= 4. 3*1. 5 cm. Left Ovary measures= 3.0*1. 6 cm. And I want to get rid from the cyst as soon as possible, please help.

MBBS, DGO, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology)
Gynaecologist, Chennai
Hi Bina, You cannot get rid of the cysts in the ovary as such. They are developing follicles which get arrested in the follicular phase and not ovulating. You can minimise the effects of the hormonal imbalance due to these changes by actively exercising and and avoiding high fat and carbohydrate date.It is nothing to worry.Dont panic. Start exercising. Everything will fall in place

I would advice you to get a urine re and c/s done if it has been more than 4 weeks after you finished your course of antibiotics. If your infection is cured it shouldn't harm your baby.

Scared went for usg on 21st sept (12 weeks ftom first and 11 weeks from lasr intercourse) Usg only showed bulky ovaries with pcod. I asked him if my uterus was normal he said its absolutely normal. No risk of pregnancy. U can either wait for periods to come or take withdrawal with tab devilry. Both options is fine. After periods come you will have to get complete check done by gynaecologist and take treatment for Pcos.

Im 19 years old and suffering from pcos im now 77 kgs and I need to drop down at least 7 kgs in one month and can I take psyllium or green coffee or I am interested in patanjali herbal tea pls suggest me thank you.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Hello lybrate-user, First of all kindly do not aim to lose seven kg in a month. It's too high and any measures which will help you loose that much weight will have its downside. Secondly I don't understand the reason why you want to start herbal tea or other stuff. It's gud for health is a common understanding but it's not some magic potion which will reduce your excess weight without doing anything. For you to reduce weight, you will have to look at your diet as well as physical output. Start going for a brisk walk daily for 45 mins. No talking with someone while walking. It Shud be actually be brisk not a leisurely walk. Stop all junk food especially south Indian sodas or idlis or chat or bakery products. Consume booked water for the whole day. Preferably add dhaniya and shunthi in it while boiling. You will require medicines for PCOS. Consult a doctor personally at your city and undergo Panchkarma. Actual treatment at a good centre will be more better for better results. Online advice is fine but kindly take treatment after showing your reports physically to a doctor at your city. Tk care. Kindly leave a positive feedback if you are satisfied by my suggestion. Bye.

Tips to Stay Healthy During Winter Season

Tips to Stay Healthy During Winter Season

Tips to stay healthy during the winter season

Are you ready for cold and flu season? if you want to avoid being sick and feeling like you have to go to the doctor to get antibiotics and other drugs, now is the time to be thinking about prevention!

To that end, here's some great tips to strengthen your body's immune system during the winter season.

Drink the optimal amount of water. With the winter season here, it's more important than ever to consume the right amount of water for your health.
Keep stress to a minimum. Studies have linked high stress levels to making a person more susceptible to catching colds and flu. Minimize your stress by working reasonable hours at your job. Aim for at least one night per week to spend with friends and family. If your stress is out of hand and you feel like you need some help, let me know.
Eat a healthy diet. Maintaining a good healthy diet full of fresh fruits and vegetables and minimal amounts of organic meats is another way to keep your body clean and in good working order. Try eating an extra piece of fruit or veggie every day too!
Exercise regularly. It is important to exercise regularly, even if only for 15 minutes a day! get out and take a short walk and enjoy the cooler weather.
Get the right amount of sleep every night. The average person needs 6-8 hours of sleep per night. If you're not getting enough sleep, your body is extremely vulnerable to illness. Sleep is very much like fuel that recharges your batteries! you've got to do it to keep the machine running.
Wash your hands regularly. Keep the bacteria and viruses off your hands and out of your mouth and eyes. Keep a bottle of hand sanitizer close-by for those instances where you can't get to soap and water.
Don't smoke. Most of you already know this, but it bears repeating because smoking significantly weakens your immune system. If you want to quit and have tried everything else, let me know. I have some nutritional recommendations that can help you quit!
Eliminate all forms of sugar. This includes not only the obvious kinds (cake, cookies and sweets, in general), but bread, pasta, rice, yogurt and commercial, store-bought fruit juices. Although all of these things are made with different types of sugars, your body still converts them to sugar, which will compromise your immune system.

Headache During Orgasm - Why You Should Not Ignore it?

Postgraduate Diploma in Sexology , M.D., Ph.D.
Sexologist, Nagpur
Headache During Orgasm - Why You Should Not Ignore it?

Although it might seem hard to believe at times, headache during the peak of physical intimacy is very much a real thing. These headaches can affect both men and women. Generally, the headache subsides after one or two instances, but in some cases, the headache might persist and become a chronic one.

You might experience a headache while performing any kind of a sexual act. The headaches are generally characterised by sudden and intense pain in the left side of the head just before ejaculation; it might start slowly and rapidly emerge into an intense one. A headache gradually wears you down after attaining orgasm and might cause disturbances in your regular sex life, if it happens to be chronic.

Although most of the headaches are benign, it is still advisable to get them diagnosed without delay.

Why does this happen?

  1. Although the exact reason is not known, doctors state that the headache might be a result of past history of migraine headaches or general headaches due to high levels of stress.
  2. Excessive consumption of marijuana, contraceptive pills and alcohol might also cause these headaches.
  3. The headaches occur as a result of rapid increase in blood pressure or the diameter of the blood vessel before the moment of attaining orgasm. Although, this generally occurs due to a weak vessel wall, however, if this headache becomes chronic or occurs in irregular time periods, it might serves as a precursor to serious diseases, such as brain inflammation, brain tumours, neck disease and low blood pressure.
  4. Also, if the headache is accompanied by symptoms like vomiting tendency, confusion and a rigid neck, you should check with your doctor to avoid further complications.

However, one can try and prevent chronic headache with the help of prescribed anti inflammatory drugs. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a neurologist.

Then within few days I had bleeding for 3 days on 31st January. After that on 28th Feb I again had periods for 3 days. Now today is 31st March still my periods are not coming. What will I do. Should I again consult doctor. Or I wait for more time. How much time I will wait please help me.

No need for any consultation rt now, wait for a few days, you will get your periods. Since you are a PCOs case it's advised not to indulge in any of these unwanted pills as they are harmonals which disturbs cycles ,and have an untoward effect especially if you are already on harmonal medication for cysts.

Pregnancy is possible only on one day of cycle, day of ovulation when ovum is released from ovary of woman. That is why couple should have 12 to 24 cycles of unprotected sex around time of ovulation before going to Gynecologist or infertility specialist for further evaluation and advise.
