I'm suffering from asthma since 7years. Please suggest me any medicine related to the same. Is there any permanent precaution?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello. Asthma is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Medication: Bronchitis/ Asthma can be treated with homoeopathic medicines completely, only need to be regular with the medication and avoid those foods/ things to which you are allergic to for sometime. Keep taking your already on going medication, reduce it gradually and slowly once homoeopathic starts acting. Take Bakson's Astha-Aid drops/ 10-15 drops in 1/2 cup water/ thrice d day for 1 month. Report me back after a month.

Of all the possible holistic or alternative treatments available, Chronic Sinusitis stands the best chance of being cured by Homeopathy. This has been my personal first hand experience as a homeopathic doctor as well as the experience of hundreds of patients of sinusitis who got cured by Homeopathy. The Homeopathic treatment of sinusitis is far superior as it does not resort to any strong medicines or antibiotics. The homeopathic medicine for sinusitis is mild and has the additional benefit that it does not cause any side effect at all. In fact, it strengthens the immunity of the patient and helps in fighting other infections also. You can easily take an online consultation for further treatment guidance and permanent cure without any side effects

I am suffering from asthma. Now I am using inhaler daily. So kindly tell me the side effects of inhaler?? Is it safe or not??

MBBS, MD - Pharmacology and Therapeutics
General Physician, Visakhapatnam
Dear lybrate user, inhalation route of drug administration is very effective with minimal side effects when compared with oral/tablet mode of medication. Majority of asthma patients uses two types of drugs. Drugs which dilates airway (broncho dilators like salbutamol) & inflammation stoppers (steroids like budesonide). Side effects are very minimal. If you r using a steroid please wash your mouth with water after inhalation of the drug.

Hello there, for cough, take 2-2 teaspoonful of pranacharya kasantak by mixing it in hot water twice daily. Sitopaladi, praval and tankan bhasm churna taken with honey can also bring relief. Consume this 3 to 4 times a day for relief from dry cough; you can also drink tea with basil leaves or add ginger and black pepper in it. Salted hot water gargling also helps. And stay away from cold drinks and don't take milk when having cough.

Congratulations on your quitting smoking. You have made an excellent decision and you will reap rich dividends in the future, healthwise and monetarily too. You must visit a dentist and have all your teeth cleaned of plaque and tartar, which you may not be able to notice. This will improve your gums and dental health. When quitting, you must take one day at a time; though you must give up all smoking at once, and promptly. If you look too far ahead you will get discouraged and will give up. If you sit and count the number of days you have given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. You must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So even if you fail one day, you must try and try again. Very few people succeed in their first attempt. Your persistence will eventually pay off. The urge to discontinue is hampered by many factors but the worst of them is the conditioning. In fact, these conditions can exist all through the day, unlike other addictions. But your desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms you about continuing the habit. The information is really scary but true and you must remind yourself about this every day. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heartbeat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So you must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for you. In fact, it is highly toxic too. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chew gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine gums and nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces, substantially. You may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i.e. At least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. Here’s a piece of very good advice: even if you accidentally/willfully take a cigarette, it is not the end of the world – you can start the cessation all over again. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest. You could also join twitter2quit program and enjoy its success to give up smoking.

My husband is suffering from sarcoidosis, could I know is there any treatment? Please advise.

DNB(Respiratory Diseases), MBBS
Pulmonologist, Jabalpur
Yes. Definitely sarcoidosis has treatment. The patient should be tested for a definite diagnosis. Involvement of lungs are most commonly seen, although any organ may also be involved. Depending upon the stage and type of disease treatment may have to be given. Many stage 1 lung disease sarcodosis patients may not need any treatment, except careful regular assessment of the disease.
