Hi lybrate-user, Only gym / physical activity is not the option. You have to do some dietary modification with physical activity. Small & frequent meal (2 major meals, 2-3 small meals) more green leafy vegetables & salad. (3-4 meals) avoid outside foods/ fried foods/ junk foods. Drink sufficient water. (2-3 liter/day) do regular workout- yoga/ exercise/ walk/ running /jogging whatever is possible. (try to start with 10-15 minutes, gradually increase the timing of workout.) you can take a private consultation to get a diet chart in detail.

Stop junk food on a regular basis. Decide on a day or two for junk food only if remaining 5-6 days are eaten healthy. Try to make home food interesting and take his choice for the same. Avoid giving in to tantrums. Most of the times it is us who develop the habit of junk and fast foods out of guilt or lack of time or convinience. Explain the i'll effects of junk eating and practice yourself what you preach. Try to make alternatives like chikki instead of chocolate or home made laddoo instead of pastry or pav bhaji made at home. It takes only 2-3 weeks to develop a new habit. All it needs is discipline.

Dear, you can get a healthy muscular body by following methods: - 1. To gain weight, your digestion should work properly for proper digestion - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. 2. Take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calorie food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. Follow the diet chart in your daily life to fastly gain weight * in morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of protein powder with breakfast. * in lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. * in evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with 2 bananas. * in night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. 3. In morning, get up early and take awalk for 10-15 minutes and exercise light weight exercises for at least 30 minutes at home or gym. 4. For proper weight, proper sleep is very important. So you should sleep for 6-8 hours daily. 5. Avoid smoking & alcohol drinkg completely. 6. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.

Hi lybrate-user, can you please tell me what is your height? if you want to gain healthy weight we need to work on your lean muscle mass. Can you please tell me what is your daily food routine from morning to evening? if you are a non vegeterian you can start your day with 3 slices of multigrain bread with 2-3 egg white omlette. You can also have a glass of whey protein with milk (you can opt for optimum nutrition whey protein). In lunch you can have normal dal, rice/ roti, mushroom sabzi or mix veg sabzi and curd. In the evening at around 5: 00 pm you can have 1-2 besan cheela or moong dal cheela witha cup of tea or coffee. At night you can have grilled chicken with roti or soya granules or nuggets with roti. You can start with the above mentioned simple routine initially. If needed any further help please do write to me.

I have JUVENILE MYCLONIC EPILEPSY since 3 years. I came to know about it when I met a neurologist which had me an EEG test. There is no one in my family have this problem. Not even any neurological problem so far. I don't know where I got this disease. Doctor said the cause is unknown. Also I am physically weak. Is weakness might be a cause? I have also other problems such as memory loss, confusion and attention problem. Are these problems due to that disease? I just want to know what's cause of this.

Ayurveda believes in digestion not into giving heavy food for weight gain. According to ayurveda, food which are easy to digest but nutrient can gain weight. But I need detait history for perfact solution. Like your appetite? bowel habits sleeping habits kind of your work or job life style diet etc. But till you can do following: take daal rice more. Use cow ghee n milk. Avoid over eating start massage with til oil in morning, after that, do exercise whatever you want. Then bath focus in yourself avoid stress anger fear take ajvayan 1 tsp after meal. Start chyavanprash in morning. For medicine I need you more history.

There must be some missing link to your diet and weight training that you did not gain muscles. One can increase muscles which is weight gain and not fat gain by weight training only and eating a muscle gain diet. It does not happen overnight. It takes almost a year to see the desired result. So please do not stop weight training because that is the only exercise which will help you gain weight. In your condition your energy requirement is very high so whatever you eat is used as a source of energy and you do not make muscle. To gain muscles you will have to eat at least 6 meals (high calorie) in a day at a regular interval with a proper ratio of proteins and carbohydrates. Proteins will help you gain body mass while carbohydrates will help you give energy. Protein foods are eggs, fish, chicken, milk and milk products, meat and dals. Carbohydrate foods are roti and rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes. You have to eat vegetables and fuits and use healthy and good fats for cooking like ghee, cold pressed mustrad or til oil. You will also have to do some weight training exercise to help you build mass into the body. Also drink enough water to keep you hydrated.

I am female aged 72 years I had ostrppenea in 1992 and was having pain and discomfort in my left knee. I do have knee pain specially climbing and descending stairs but no difficulty in walking I do yoga quite regularly and walking also UpTo 2.5 km Quite often. The blood reports and all tests are normal Recently I have pain in my fingers of left leg for last two months I am doing exercises for fingers and regular hot foot bath but the pain has not gone I am taking g shelcal 500 for last one month PL suggest what should I do Thanks.

Hi. Get your x ray for knee done. If stiffness is present, do hot fomentation Do knee exercises. Avoid squatting and cross leg sitting. Avoid stair climbing. For toes, chk for swelling and inflammation. Get your pathology test for uric acid and ESR. Shelcal is comination of calcium and vitamin D. Good for weak bones.

When a person indulges in Vata-aggravating diet and lifestyle, then this aggravated Vata circulates ama in the channels of the body and deposits it in the joints causing pain. 1.. Go for fasting once a week. You can go for absolute fasting or rely on a liquid diet to digest ama (toxin). Fasting should be followed by hot fomentation or by taking a bath with lukewarm water or steam bath. 2.. After fasting and fomentation, mix powdered long pepper, black pepper and dried ginger in equal quantities and take 1 teaspoon of this powdered mix with lukewarm water twice a day. This will help you restore your digestive fire. 3. For dry fomentation of the affected joints, take a cloth and fold it into four, fill it with hot and sand make a potli (bag) out of it. Use this bundle for the fomentation of Knee joints. This is very helpful in reducing pain and swelling. Try it for 2 week .
