Dear lybrate-user. Fear of death, in your case, I don't think has reached a condition where phobia name can be given. You just fear death. Almost everyone do fear death. That is part of becoming mature. Don't worry. Engage in creative and entertaining activities and ignore and divert death related thoughts through activities. Take care.

My sister 51 years suffering from an acute situation. Few months back she was identified with esophageal varices and beginning of ulcer. Doctor told me that the cause of the ulcer is coming from her head and it is nothing but her tensions. She is a primary school teacher and got transferred to a new school. What she says that she cannot adjust with the new environment, teaching in english medium, students are not obeying her, cannot take class, cannot value papers, cannot prepare food, cannot dress up properly. Now she is saying that she cannot even prepare rice or tea. E feel a special appearance, do not eat well, getting worser every day. Every time crying without tears. Spent hours in kitchen and come back without doing anything. Our elder sister died due to ovarian cancer 1 years back. Her husband and 3 sons are so frustrated and saying her that go and commit suicide if she cannot do anything. She has his own convictions and when we ask her to consult a doctor she says doctors cannot do anything. They cannot cure. Now she is afraid of doing anything and simply spending time and complaining that she cannot do anything. How can we diagnose the situation.

Your sister has been undergoing stress disorder which if not checked earlier would lead to psychiatric conditions like anxiety neurosis, depression etc., The first thing I would like to suggest is to withdraw from her job role for a particular period of time. Medical leave for a month or two will be enough. This will give her a relaxation from the overwhelming fear/tension/stress. The second thing is to take her to a psychological counselor who can teach her some relaxation techniques and use some couseling techniques to gradually reduce her irrational fears and other psychological issues and adjustment problems. The most impartant part is that her husband and children are in need of counselling in order to give her emotional support to overcome her problems soon. Find a psychological counsellor asap. Certainly there is a way out.

Dear Lybrate User, *Try to keep to a regular timing for going to bed*Avoid fried and heavy foods. Eat early and light food at night so that the food is almost digested by the time you go to bed. *Prefer fruits and green vegetables. *Fix daily work schedule and be busy with your work. Don’t keep pending problems in mind. Note down the points and leave them for next day’s action. *Don’t do stimulating mental work or keep watching TV which can keep your mind agitated or active. This will not allow you to sleep. LCD screen will also have adverse effect. *Day’s physical exercise makes you tired and induces sleep. *A warm bath in the evening will also be helpful. *Low volume music also induces sleep. *Keep your bed room neat, dark and cool. You may cover your eyes with bed sheet. *Drink plenty of water during the day rather than toward bedtime. *Don’t have stimulating drinks like tea or coffee Drinking a glass of milk before going to bed is fine. *Daily Massage body with coconut oil and bath with warm water,

My uncle is addicted of taking alcohol as much he wants to free from it, the worse is it getting, he knows that it is not good but he is unable to do it.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Only strong will power, determination, attending AA meetings and diverting mind when tempted will help you stop alcohol Alcohol causes 7 types of cancer, including breast, mouth and bowel cancers. When you drink alcohol, cancer-causing chemicals are formed. Alcohol also affects hormone levels and makes cells even more likely to be damaged by smoking. The less alcohol you drink, the lower the risk of cancer. No type of alcohol is better or worse than another, it is the alcohol itself that leads to the damage, regardless of whether it is in wine, beer or spirits. And drinking and smoking together are even worse for you. Not everyone who drinks alcohol will develop cancer. But on the whole, scientists have found that some cancers are more common in people who drink more alcohol than others. Every year, alcohol causes 4% of cancers .Tips to cut down on alcohol. There are lots of simple ways to cut down on the amount of alcohol you drink. It can help to work out if there are particular times or situations when you tend to have a drink, whether that’s a bad day at work or a weekly pub quiz tradition, and plan what you’ll say and do differently next time. Have more alcohol-free days a week. For liver health it’s best to have at least 2 days off alcohol in a row each week. Try agreeing on certain days with your partner or a friend and help each other and stick to it. If you are planning to drink alcohol, decide on a limit in advance and make sure you don’t go over it. Swap every other alcoholic drink for a soft one – starting with your first drink. Try shandy instead of a pint of beer, or swap some wine for soda and have a spritzer. Don’t stock up on beer, wine or spirits at home. Finish one drink before pouring another, because topping up drinks makes it harder to keep track of how much you’ve had and when you planned to stop. Avoid buying drinks in rounds, that way you don’t have to keep pace with anyone. Tell a friend or partner that you’re cutting down on alcohol, they can support you – or even join you.

General Physician,
I can give you come concentration tips and try them. 10 Study Tips to Improve Your Learning Study Tip 1: Underlining Underlining is one of the simplest and best known study tips. It’s easy to highlight the most significant parts of what you’re reading. One key sentence per paragraph and a few important phrases here and there. You can only retain a certain amount so it’s best to retain the most important information. Study Tip 2: Make your own note and taking notes is one of the most widespread study skills out there. Essentially the aim of note-taking is to summarise lectures or articles in your own words so you can easily remember the ideas. Study Tip 3: Mind mapping A good Mind map can save you many hours of study and further consolidate your knowledge for your exams. Mind Maps are an extremely versatile tools. They can be used for brainstorming, outlining essays or study topics and for general exam preparation, ExamTime offers the ability to create Mind Maps quickly and easily which makes them the ideal tool when it comes to exams. Study Tip 4: Flash cards:- Using these are a particularly effective method of learning when trying to assimilate different facts, dates, formulas or vocabulary. Subjects such as History, Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Geography or any language are made much easier if you incorporate Flashcards in to your study. Study Tip 5: Case Studies Sometimes it can be difficult to grasp the implications of some theories. This is where studying case studies can be a big help. Case studies can help you visualise a theory and place it in a more familiar and realistic context. This is especially useful in business or law subjects. Study Tip 6: Quizzes are an excellent way to review study notes in the weeks and days before an exam. Quizzes can show where your strengths and weaknesses are, so it allows you to focus your efforts more precisely. Moreover, if you share your Study Quiz with your classmates and test each other as much as possible you can discover even more details and areas you may have overlooked. So before any exam, make sure you create and share a bunch of different Quizzes with your Friends. Study Tip 7: Brainstorming This is another study technique that is ideal for studying with friends and/or classmates. Brainstorming is a great way to expand every possible idea out of any topic. Just get a bunch of friends together and shoot the breeze, there are no wrong answers when brainstorming – just talk and capture the ideas, you can review afterward. Study Tip 8: Mnemonic Rules Mnemonics are especially useful when memorising lists and sets. Mnemonics rules basically work by associating certain concepts with other concepts that are more familiar to us. There are many different ways to make mnemonics and these can be individual to the person. Study Tip 9: ORGANISE your study One of the most effective study skills is also one of the most often overlooked; this is organising your study. Creating a TIME TABLE gives you goals and a time in which to achieve them. Having a study timetable as you study is greatly motivational Study Tip 10: Drawing Many people find it easier to recall images rather than text that is why they are better able to memorise concepts if they associate them with pictures or drawings. If you find answer helpful please click on “helpful” tab for knowing my efforts are useful CONCENTRATION TIPS Here’s some tips to get into a state of deep concentration where work / or studies flow easily so that you can do well in examinations/ and or do your work well. 1) Cut Off the Noise Getting into a state of concentration can take at least fifteen minutes. If you are getting distracted every five, you can’t possibly focus entirely on your work. Request that people don’t interrupt you when working on a big project. If you are required to answer phones and drop-in’s immediately, schedule work when the office is less busy. 2) Structure Your Environment The place you work can have an impact on your ability to focus. Try to locate yourself so you are facing potential distractions such as doors, phones or windows. This way you can take a glance to assess sounds that would otherwise break your focus. 3) Clarify Objectives Know what your goal is clearly before you start. If you aren’t sure what the end result is, the confusion will make it impossible to focus. 4) Divide Blobs. If you have a large project that needs work, clearly identify a path that you will use to get started working on it. If the sequence of actions isn’t obvious, it will be difficult to concentrate. Taking a few minutes to plan not only your end result, but the order you will complete any steps, can save hours in wasted thinking. 5) Know the Rules Get clear on what the guidelines are for the task ahead. What level of quality do you need? What standards do you need to follow? What constraints are there? If the rules aren’t clear from the outset, you will slip out of concentration as you ponder them later. 6) Set a Deadline Deadlines have both advantages and disadvantages when trying to force concentration. A deadline can make it easier to forget the non-essential and speed up your working time. If you give yourself only an hour to design a logo, you will keep it simple and avoid fiddling with extravagant designs. Time limits have disadvantages when they cause you to worry about the time you have left instead of the task itself. 7) Break down Roadblocks Roadblocks occur whenever you hit a tricky problem in your work. This can happen when you run out of ideas or your focus wavers. Break down roadblocks by brainstorming or planning on a piece of paper. Writing out your thought processes can keep you focused even if you might become frustrated. 8) Isolate Yourself Become a hermit and stay away from other people if you want to get work done. Unless your work is based on other people they will only break your focus. Create a private space and refuse to talk to anyone until your work is finished. Put a sign on your door to steer away drop-ins and don’t answer your phone. 9) Healthy Body, Sharper Mind What you put into your body affects the way you concentrate. Nobody would expect peak performance if they showed up drunk to work. But if you allow yourself to get chronic sleep deprivation, overuse stimulants like caffeine or eat dense, fatty foods your concentration will suffer. Try to cut out one of your unhealthy habits for just thirty days to see if there is a difference in your energy levels. I’ve found even small steps can create dramatic changes in my ability to focus. 10) Be Patient Before I write an article, I often sit at my desk for a fifteen or twenty minutes before I put finger on the keyboard. During this time I feel a strong urge to leave or do something else. But I know that if I am patient, I’ll stumble upon an idea to write about and enter a state of flow. Without a little patience, you can’t take advantage of flow when it rushed through you. If you need strong concentration I recommend periods of 90-120 minutes. Any less than that and you will waste too much time getting started before the flow can continue. More than this is possible to sustain focus, but you will probably benefit from a quick break. These are the general guidelines for concentration, studying well or doing your job. Regards.

Internal frustration may caused for excessive anger. You are in most of the time alone. You are not sharing your internal feelings to anyone. Suffering all the time and maintain struggled life. Better to maintain a very good friendly relations with family members and friends. Do not use any medicine for small problems. Bette to understand people mind set. Think about their side. Relaxation therapy helpful to untolerated thoughts. Better to practise. Take the help of psychologist. All the best.

If you are not smoking that is it. Congratulations on your success. But do not rest on your laurels. Keep yourself fit and healthy by some basic practices: eat healthily, sleep well, and do regular exercise. Keep far away from cigarettes and tobacco because you can easily become addicted to it again. Be positive in life, live in love and have a fruitful purpose all through. Spiritual pursuits will simply enhance your life to new levels and bring much peace and harmony.

MBBS, MD (AIIMS, Gold Medalist), Diploma in CBT (Glasgow)

Last month I did my abortion coz of my health issues n from then I'm very depressed n feel lonely.
I am sorry for your loss. An abortion is like a loss of a loved one. It generates a grief reaction in the mother which can be profound in many. But it is also important to understand that it is natural in the first month or so. It usually goes away in a couple of months. If it persists beyond this period we might have to look for abnormal conditions such as depression. In any case from a psychological standpoint you have to understand some things. The loss is not reversible. So do not try to hold on to it. Accept the loss. Share your thoughts and feelings with near and dear ones, do not keep it to yourself. Spend quality time with family and friends. Reengage and spend more time in hobbies. Sleep and eat well; drink lot of water. Listen to calming music, do yoga and pranayam. You should get well soon. If this state continues for a few more weeks, please consult a psychiatrist.

Dear, You must be able to understand Concentration, attention span, recollection and distraction. If you are able to watch a movie for two hours continuously, if you are able to play a game for an hour, then you do not have any concentration problems. You can't be attentive towards your studies because you are not interested in it. You are able to watch movie and play game because you are interested in it. Human cannot be attentive towards anything for more than 10 minutes. Then you should study in such a way that your attention is continued and make the subjects are interesting to you. Effective learning techniques should help you. Recollection depends on anxiety, stress and other physical and circumstantial factors. Distractions while studying are plentiful. You should be able to overcome distractions or avoid distractions. Please understand the above. Change your study style and attitude accordingly. Please post a private question to me and I will help you with "effective learning" techniques. Avocados, Beetroots, Blueberries, Broccoli. Celery, Coconut Oil, Dark Chocolate etc are good for improving concentration. Take care.
