How to stop mawa or gutkha chewing.

PhD (Psychology), MSc Psychology, MS
Psychologist,
Dear, tobacco is addictive. Gutka also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like nicotine replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. But still you will need will power. You may consult a physician or deaddiction therapist or a rehabilitation facility for further advise. I think two or three counseling sessions and psycho therapy techniques should solve your problem. Let me know if you are willing to undergo counseling sessions and tailor made psycho therapy through mobile. Take care. Take care.

Mr. lybrate-user the description of the symptoms you have described suggest you have predominantly anxiety problem. Anxiety symptoms occur in any individual due to neurotransmitter changes, in the brain which doesn't have any clear cut structural abnormalities in Mri or CT scan. So brain imaging usually is not necessary. But you need detailed evaluation. Few medical conditions like hypertension, hypoglycaemia, hyperthyroidism, anemia etc can also produce the same symptoms. Victofol inj is not going to help you for anxiety problem. Kindly consult a psychiatrist immediately for detailed evaluation and treatment.

I am 23 years old. My weight is 56 kgs and I am 5 ft 11 inches. Gender male. I have lot many problems. I was in a serious relationship but its been two years since break up. I was very much depressed wanted to end up my life but I moved on initially but still the past haunts me. At times I feel depressed. When past sprouts up. A fire within haunts me. I feel like killing me or killing all the girls whom I hate. I dont feel like talking to any girl. I dont talk to any girl thereafter I remain alone I make no friends. ANd I dont know I have started disliking girls. I masturbate to get stress free as a result it gives me some temporary pleasure and makes me feel relax. But it has become a habit. An addiction. I also see its side effects. Like memory loss indigestion weak joints and many more. After I knew its disadvantages I try to reduce but what I observed if I dont masturbate for a couple of days like 3-4 days I feel frustrated depressed again. A spirit of vengeance enlightens. But d moment I masturbate I feel ease. But. What I see my semen comes out like water. I am underweight and ill health So my question is 1) how shall I overcome my past the sudden depression and mood swings? 2) how shall I come over masturbation and porn 3) how to become healthy? Whatever I eat that comes out very soon as stool. I need help mentally physically from all side. Doctors help me.

1. See a physician - you may have some stomach infection/ worm ingestion that is causing frequent bowel movements after meals. 2. Eat healthy- avoid junk foods. 3. Focus on what you want in life. A partner/ companion is a requirement, not a necessity - you have not mentioned the reasons for your break up, but probably you are feeling cheated and betrayed, that's the reason for your frustration. In a relationship both partners are equal, if there is mutual respect only then relationship flourish. You can not and should not force yourself on the other person. Past is past, if you cling on to it, it will hurt. Begin by creating a picture of a bright future for yourself - what you would like to do, what is it that you will like to achieve. What kind of life you look forward to. Change your orientation from pitying yourself from your past expetience to bring a strong person in the present and future. Seek help from a psychologist who can help you be more empowered.

I am 29 years old man. I have habit of smoking I tried so many times to quit. But I can't quit so long. After few days or after a week I have tendency to restart it. How can stop it completely. Help me.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Dear lybrate user, you may need a bit of willpower to stop smoking permanently. You could easily abstain yourself from smoking during the initial 2-3 days. But after few days of abstaining from smoking you will feel a strong craving to smoke a cigarette whenever you face any tense situation. Here lies your real test. You will need a lot of willpower to resist that craving & face any tense situation without the help of nicotine. However, you can take homoeopathic mother tincture daphne indica q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. This medicine will help to reduce your craving for nicotine. To minimise the bad-effects of smoking take one single bulb garlic everyday at morning before brushing your teeth.

Sir I was suffering from memory loss. After reading some article I nothing gone summarize. So suggest me for that. Thank you.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Stress can foil concentration and learning ability. Although concentration is different to memory, they can affect each other. Concentration precedes memory. If you are under stress your concentration will go for a toss, then naturally memory will be totally foiled. So meet with a counselor to take care of the stress and your memory will happily return. You can follow these simple rules in the meantime: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid all junk food.

hello you are more weak emotionally. please let yourself be strong again. you can do it. the only thing u need to do is just take care of these 5 things * exercise or yoga- meditation.Regular exercise can be as effective. Not only does exercise boost serotonin, endorphins, and other feel-good brain chemicals, it triggers the growth of new brain cells and connections, just like antidepressants do. Even a half-hour daily walk can make a big difference. *Nutrition.Eating well is important for both your physical and mental health. Eating small, well-balanced meals throughout the day will help you keep your energy up and minimize mood swings. *Sleep.Sleep has a strong effect on mood. When you don't get enough sleep irritability, moodiness, sadness, and fatigue increases. Make sure you're getting enough sleep each night. *Social support.Strong social networks reduce isolation. *Stress reduction.Make changes in your life to help manage and reduce stress.

I am a singer by profession from mumbai. I'm suffering from vocal nodules from last 6 months. I have a big size polyp in my right vocal chord. Its been 4 months m taking regular treatment. Homeopathy medicine plus vocal therapy from a renowned doctor in mumbai. But still only 20 to 30% recovery is there. I'm really tensed as my whole career depends on my voice. please suggest what should I do to get recover soon.

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Chennai
Vocal cord nodules are benign (noncancerous) growths on both vocal cords that are caused by vocal abuse. Over time, repeated abuse of the vocal cords results in soft, swollen spots on each vocal cord. These spots develop into harder, callous-like growths called nodules. The nodules will become larger and stiffer the longer the vocal abuse continues. Vocal abuse takes many forms and includes: allergies smoking tense muscles singing coaching cheerleading talking loudly drinking caffeine and alcohol (dries out the throat and vocal cords) you have to consult an ent surgeon for proper therapy, do not play with your voice.

The best ayurveda herb for your case is Natural home remedy using Indian gooseberry and lemon juice: 1. Cut and de-seed an Indian gooseberry 2. Crush the cut gooseberry to paste 3. Press this paste on a sieve and extract its juice 4. Add 3 tbsp lemon juice to this juice 5. Mix well 6. Apply this on the scalp 7. Leave it for 30 min 8. Wash off with normal water This will help with your concern.

Sir my uncle age 57 years old they have useing alchohal in very big value what can we to leave this bad habbit.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
If you think that he will find it very difficult, then admit him to a hospital and go for de-addiction: which normally lasts for about two weeks. Then follow that up with addiction counseling from a professional for at least three years to completely get rid of the habit. If this is also not enough, then admit him into a de-addiction center and let him stay there for at least 6 months and after that attend counseling with a professional. There are medicines that help with the drinking just to ease the initial craving. Ultimately, it is his will power and the support that he receives from the medical fraternity and his close and dear ones. He must also learn to substitute and deal with the oral need, a rigid value system, the script issue, and of course look at all the genetic factors to plan a strategy not to get into what is called? cross addictions? i. E. Another form of addiction that may appear alright but is in fact as bad as the primary addiction. The center or hospital and the counselor will advise and guide him on several measures and precautions he will need to take to stay with his resolve. Even after the rehabilitation he must attend aa meetings and continue this support for a long time. His family will also need to attend some sessions and go for al-anon meetings for their co-dependency issues. He cannot be treated in isolation because the family has gotten used to his drinking and have made some unhealthy adaptations to somehow cope. His children will also have to attend meetings to work out their issues because of the father? s habit. In fact, they are all suffering from the adult children of alcoholics syndrome (acoas), which in effect means that they are genetically predisposed to alcoholism or can have cross addiction problems and they will have similar traits of the abusing alcoholic but in a milder form. There are special support groups for them all over the world. Should they touch or indulge in alcohol or any addictive substances or behaviors, they could also become full-fledged addicts themselves. If your uncle refuses to go for rehabilitation, then some centers have a method of picking him up when he is totally sloshed and is not able to fight back effectively. They will need the family? s written consent before willing to take him in this manner. Make a serious plan with the wife and children and whoever else? s support he can get and act on it fast.

My wife aged 60 Yrs suffers from mental disorder of emotional outbursts. It seems she is also a patient of high BP, ...
Dear lybrate user, since your wife is 60 years old, it is advisable to take her to a doctor and get all routine physical tests done. You need to know if all her body functions like thyroid, hormone levels etc are normal or not. Treating her bp with only diet control may also be harmful. Please take doctor's advise. If all her organs are functioning normally, then you may consult a counsellor. Because, then the emotional outbursts may be because of suppressed feelings like anger, sadness, shame, guilt etc. The counselling sessions will help her to relieve her of her stress and help her in modifying her reactions to different situations. This will help her in expressing her feelings in socially acceptable way.

My fiance is controlling. She doesnt realise that i take offense for so many things she does. Even though she says she loves me but when she is angry i get stern responses from her. What should i do to communicate my feelings. Can my relationship ever improve?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
All relationships are based and strengthened by communication. In fact, if communication is blocked or restrained, this bodes the end of the relationship. You must communicate comfortably; and you cannot blame anyone else or later complain about not being able to confront the other for any reason. Each of you must be open to honest feedback. If you don?t do this now, you can never do so later. You will have to then live this lie for the rest of however long the relationship lasts. Now is the time to demand a change, if that is what is required. This girl may be meaning well but may not know how she is offending you. How is she going to know if you don?t tell her! This is the sign of her willingness and ability to adjust: a very important aspect of good unions ? adjustability. Whatever the consequences, be honest and face the sternness, and then confront the same to make her see how she behaves. Now, be gentle, kind, and loving when you do tell her. Inform her that she could get angry but she must look at what you are saying and see if she can adjust. If she does not respond appropriately, give her a few more chances and then let her know that this (i.E. The relationship) cannot carry on any further. Don?t be rude but be sensitive, especially if she is trying. If she is controlling this relationship, she has some insecurity which may or may not be related to you. Talk to her and see if she is amenable to look at it and reform. You may even share this response as a way to open up this issue. When she gets angry, she is actually escalating anger over her fear ? it will never help her deal with the real feeling of fear. The anger becomes the frontal feeling, getting all the attention and to no avail.
