I am a 19 years old female. I have my exams on my way in the first week of feb. But the problem is the more I think about it I worry instead of studying. Its like I have developed a habit of worrying about everything. It's very hard for me to concentrate. I see my syllabus and books and I do nothing but freak out. I am developing this deep fear of this exam which is only of like 25marks! What am I supposed to do. Please help me. I have like only 7 days left. How do I concentrate and stop worrying. Thank you.

Please do meditation before going to sleep. Relax - keep calm and believe in yourself. Believe that you can overcome the exams whatever it comes. Take good sleep. If there is some other cause of worry try to keep it aside till your exams are over. For further queries get back to me.

My husband loves me so much and I also love him, but he has the problem of dreaming about me that if I talk with someone specially gents my husband gets the dream that I am with that person having sex over him. Hi lybrate-user, this is because of anxiety, you need to practice deep breathing exercise: find a quiet space where you can be alone with no distractions. Close the door, if possible. As you get used to this breathing exercise, you may be able to close out distractions and perform the exercise around others. Sit upright, with your back straight. You can sit in a chair, or sit on the floor with your legs crossed, whatever feels more natural. You can lie down if you must. Keep in mind, however, that sitting upright allows your lungs to fill to maximum capacity, which is best when practicing deep breathing place your arms on the arms of a chair or resting on your thighs. This removes the burden from your shoulders and aids in relaxation. For a count of four seconds, breathe deeply through your nose. Your lower belly should expand with the breath. For one to two seconds, simply hold the breath inside your chest. Now, exhale all of the air out of your lungs through your mouth. You should hear a" whoosh" sound as it leaves your mouth. Notice your belly deflating as you release the breath. To avoid hyperventilating, pause for a few seconds before taking a new breath. Do this entire sequence again for about five minutes. About six to eight cycles of breathing per minutes is considered effective at relieving anxiety. Nonetheless, you should find your own natural breathing rhythm that makes you comfortable. Practice deep breathing at least twice a day for five minutes each session. All the best.

As of now she needs to continue with the medication. Has she ever spoken to a counsellor? if not please consult a counsellor, who would help her in treating the root cause of her depression. Depressive people are mostly pessimistic and have negative approach to life situations. The counsellor can help her in changing her thought patterns and thereby reducing her depressive recurrent thoughts. Medication and counselling work hand in hand. Medication gives symptomatic relief and counselling will treat the root cause. Please seek counsellor's help.

You are well motivated to quit tobacco,that is nice begining.there are drugs that can help.requires visit.but you can substitute your tobacco need with nicotex chewing gum or niclonz lozenges used by "bite and park" method.this will take care of irritablity and craving.stop and start using subsitutes.help yourself and enjoy good health for life. if you can learn and practice yoga i.e. asanas,meditation,pranayam and excercise for 30 minutes for increasing attention and concentration. There are other factors to take into consideration too because of your age. A lot of the reason may be true because of the age alone, and a little stress perhaps. I suspect that you are going through a spurt in the production of the male sex hormone, which affects you in three ways quite unknown to you. First, there will be a sexual agenda that it will kick off, secondly, there will be aggressiveness and rebelliousness, and thirdly, you will suffer from acne and pimple problems. This is the effect of the hormone that has a duration of almost two years and you will have no control over it. But if you have a good value system you will tide over this phase without significant damage. The hormonal imbalances may not only impact your memory because of the chemical but also bring along some distractions that come with it. But you may work on the following even if the hormones kick in: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive or coconut oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning at least five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There are some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that you and the family go for counseling too. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine.

If you had broken up and you are still thinking about her, it only means that you loved this girl very much. Since she was the one to break up with her, you must accept this wish of hers and move on. The clock cannot be turned back again, I suppose. You might have probably entered into a symbiosis and her leaving has become too difficult. That itself might be the reason for the breakup. Girls want a relationship where independence is respected and there is no clingy behavior. You have got to look into this aspect of your personality. Are you becoming too dependent on the girl and therefore demanding? This is not a welcome feature for a girl to want to maintain this relationship. You must develop yourself to become independent and responsible. Maintain respectful distance. There are three important developments in an individual that creates an autonomous personality: intimacy, awareness, and spontaneity. Of these, awareness is of great importance: it will help you know yourself internally and to also make you conscious of other people around you. Such a person is able to meet his needs and that of the other in a balanced manner. You must learn to do this soon. You are still young and have a lot to learn. In fact when you are in a college, you will meet many girls and will interact with them. If you resolve the symbiosis, you will do really well. Meet with a counselor and describe your longings, needs and wants, openly. Take your parents along and let them describe your entire life till now and the counselor will get an understanding of your plight. Remove everything that is a reminder of this girl and start working on your development. Demonstrate how you will look after yourself and work on doing that. Learn independence skills and do a personality development course too.

Breathe deeply and exhale on a hisssssssing sound. Repeat 10 times. Proper breathing is the foundation for a healthy voice AND control over nervous energy that can make the voice quiver. Say “Mm-mmm (as in yummy) Mmm-hmm (like yes) ” Repeat 5 times. This develops mask resonance, which creates a clean and vibrant sound by creating a clean approximation of the cords and a resonance that will sound great and project easily. Say “Mm-mmm. Mmm-hmm.” up and down your vocal range, from low to middle to high and back again, 10 times.

Then quit smoking. Nicotine acts as an appetite suppressant. Smoking is anyway bad for health and in addition to that if you do not eat well you could be causing more trouble to your health. Quit immediately.

Dear, you should definitely quit. You should visit a pulmonologist / physician for detailed investigation. Let them decide what are those check ups you need. You will need de-addiction therapy and nicotine replacement therapy for some time to tackle nicotine craving. Take care.

I'm fed up with life and life is not worth living for me. There is a lack of happiness lack of confidence and lack of concentration. There is no hope no enlightenment no dream no aim in life. I'm very much disinterested disheartened and depressed. I'm under a lot of stress and anxiety. I'm sailing in a boat without the sailor in the stormy sea. I'm just like the kite which strings are cutoff. I'm not living life but just passing it. I'm worthy of nothing. I'm feeling lonely in the midst of the crowd. I'm skipping my drugs for the high blood pressure. My blood pressure shoots up to 200/130 without any symptoms. I pass nights together without sleep. I have cutoff myself from my inner and outer self. I'm unable to cope up with life. If it's physical crisis I can deal with it, but as far as the emotional and moral crisis are concerned I'm just unable to deal with it.

Dear friend, I feel strongly for you. I wish I could be close to you say what I am going to tell you right now. If I try to understand how you might be feeling I feel suffocated. I am sure you are not only feeling lonely and suffocated but you are also feeling hopelessness. I do hope that you understand that what you are feeling in not only psychological. It has some strong physiology working behind it. You have some chemical imbalance in your body. That is what is creating this emotional tornado in our mind. I know with proper care and actions you will be able to once again enjoy your life and will also be able to contribute positively to make this world a better place. I am asking you to please take help from either a counselor or a psychologist. If need to consult a psychiatric and start medication. I will be more than happy to help you come out of this dark tunnel and lead a beautiful life ahead. You need to seek help and consult someone as soon as possible. I am also giving you some tips below which you can try, one thing at a time, one day at a time. I love you and I want you to take charge of your life. You may not know but you are here for a reason. What ever it is that is hurting you will go away the moment you start taking charge. As a human being you deserve the best. You deserve love and respect from people around you and love and respect begins with self. Look at yourself in the mirror and love that lady for who she is. You have endless potential within you. You could be whatever you decide you want to be. Have faith and let it go. Try following things and it will help you one day at a time. Stress has become part of our daily life now. Due to being in this chronic stress there is lot of negative energy and thinking as well as behavior processes are triggered. The good news is that our mind could be wired to switch back to positive things and resilience building. When things does not happen as we wish or people do not behave as we expect that is when out of disappointment, frustration, loneliness, anger, sadness. Etc we react and our mind starts thinking negative thoughts. Changing this pattern of responding to stressful situation requires both persistence and patience. Also you will only be able to work on this out of love and kindness towards you. Strong motivation will go a long way. Writing a statement about how would you want to respond in a similar situation and how will your life and your happiness will change if you do learn to manage your stress and how to respond to it. Once that is clear. Try following things to learn relaxation response which leads to better coping mechanism on a daily basis. To begin with doing guided progressive muscular relaxation before sleeping will help you relax. You could google and download an audio file. I would also suggest you to take a multiple small break to take 3 nice and deep breath while keeping your eyes closed. You could do this while sitting or standing or while even walking or climbing stairs (keep your eyes open in that case). When you take a nice and deep break there is actual physiological change in your body. This will help you to activate parasympathetic nervous system which promotes relaxation and helps you calm down and think more clearly. This will also actually improve your performance in your work. Along with this exercise is one of the best way to relive stress and stay fit. Engage in any kind of physical activity at least 4 times a week. This also helps in stress reduction. Along with this some relaxation exercises as well as engaging in joyful activities such as music, singing, dancing, reading, being in nature, gardening, talking with friends or anything which you enjoy will help reducing stress and rejuvenation of your mind and body. Have good routine for sleep and eating. Lot of research has now proven that sugar is very harmful for our health. Reduce sugar and refined white floor in your diet as much as you could. Along with this also increase consumption of raw vegetables in the form of salad in both the meals of your day.

Hye, Thanks for the query. Firstly, exercise should not be an ON /OFF affair. Even if you cannot workout in the gym, you need to put in some other workout which you can manage at least thrice a week. Also if your diet is not good, gains will not even as good. If you want to gain some weight, you need to eat more calories than you burn. 1. Eat 5 to 6 meals a day In order to gain weight, you need to start eating 5-6 meals a day. However, it is important that you break these meals into parts, as eating a lot at once may result in indigestion. Also, be sure to include healthy foods in your diet for a healthy weight gain. 2. Weight train at least 3 times a week When you train with weights, your muscles grow. 3. Consume more calories than you burn. Eating calories more than your normal intake may not be easy, but you must do it if you want to stop being skinny. Make sure you don’t do it just by overeating at once, but instead do it gradually over the whole day. 4. Work out your entire body A lot of gym goers usually train only the muscles on their arms, chest and shoulders and this is a grave error. Make sure you workout your entire body for a wholesome weight gain. 5. Load up on protein As informed earlier, you have to consume more calories than your normal intake every day. You can do this by eating foods rich in protein like dairy, meat, eggs, nuts, dry fruits, pulses, sprouts, smoothies, milk shakes etc. 6. Drink your calories It may be tough to meet your calorie requirements by just eating. Drinking milk, lassi, milkshakes or fruit smoothies with little or no sugar can be a great way to load up on the required calories. 7. Try and eat fast (but don’t choke on it) Your body takes some time to give signals of satiety which is why eating fast can help you eat more. 8. Focus on recovery after each workout Stretching exercises, foods rich in carbohydrates can help recover your body significantly. Also, you should aim for 8 hours of sleep as inadequate sleep can cause several problems. 9. Be patient with yourself Hoping to gain weight quickly in a healthy manner is unrealistic. Even if you follow all the advice that is there, you may end up gaining just 1-2 kilos in a month. Every body is different, and just because you are not seeing results in terms of weight gain, you shouldn’t feel discouraged. Living healthy by eating the right diet will make you feel better and more positive about life and increase your strength. 10. Believe in yourself.

Just stop being blunt. Don?t marry your fiance to change her. Accept her as she is and if it is good for her (not you) you can help her to change. First though, you need to make her comfortable with you. That can happen, if you help her by being kind, gentle, loving, respectful, trustworthy, and always giving. She will withdraw more into her shell with your bluntness. When she improves herself around you, she will find it a lot easier with other people particularly when you are with her. Gradually she will grow out of this shyness and live comfortably. If yours is an arranged marriage, surely she will feel shy initially depending on your backgrounds, education, socio-economic class, caste, community etc. Give her time and be very lovingly patient.

I am preparing for bank po exam from last 2 years. I had prepared very well. I was good in all subjects yet I cannot convert this things into good score and did not get job .The reason is too much anxiety during exam. I cannot control my mind even during exam. I missed crucial time due to this and mind get more diverted. Due to anxiety I smoke 2 3 cigarettes before exam but I am not sure this affect my performance or not. Due to tension masturbation becomes compulsion during preparation and these thoughts constantly distracting me during exam hours. I cannot able to implement the question during exam which I had rigorously practiced during preparation yet I am able to solve it at home in same time. Due to continuous failure my confidence becomes nil.

Dear friend you know it all, can you have courage to face any result, good or bad? it is the fear of negative and obsession of positive which is causing so much unrest. For just one time, do as I suggest. Give the exams casually not keen on passing them. And you will pass! remember cigarettes have proven to increase anxiety and there is a false feeling that it relieves it. The nicotine craving builds up anxiety which one feels is relieved by smoking. Lastly even if you masturbate do not torture and start another conflict by feeling guilty. Chill.
