MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. You may need deep cleaning along with desensitizing procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

Visit a dentist asap n get an x ray done. If there is infection with tooth, rct has to repeated. If the infection is in the gums due to food lodgment near the cap, you'll b treated differently for gum infection. Regards.

I have a lot of pain in tooth what should I do to prevent it give me the solution.

BDS
Dentist, Noida
Pain in teeth can be caused by many things like it can b due to-- 1-dental cavities which are deep enough to expose pulp (nerve) causing its irritation leading to pain and infection, 2- gum problems 3- any trauma to tooth 4- pain due to tmjoint. For better diagnosis and treatment plan visit a dentist for full clinical examination along with xrays. (as without seeing I cannot suggest you proper treatment).

Is root canal treatment can be done for dead teeth? After root canal, how many days cap can be fixed.

BDS
Dentist, Kolar
Root canal procedure removes all dead tissues inside your teeth n restores your chewing. So go ahead n get your rct done. After rct, capping has to b done within 30 days of time to avoid re infection n fracture of treated tooth. Once your pain n other symptoms after rct subsides, capping can b immediately done.

I m suffering from mouth ulcer from 4 days. What should I do to cure it. What are its causes and treatments.

Dentist, Jammu
ulcers occurred due to sharp edged tooth or some overhanging margin of a filling or crown.....we need to find the right cause before we can start over the treatment........for pain relief, you can apply a topical oral ulcer gel containing choline salicylate and lignocaine hcl..aslo start warm saline rinses

Know your mouthwashes.

BDS, Certification In Oral Implantology
Dentist, Ghaziabad
Know your mouthwashes.
Know your mouthwashes.
Here are few myths and common queries that our patients ask us regarding mouthwashes:

1. All mouthwashes are equal:
Mouthwashes can be classified as cosmetic and therapeutic. Rinsing with cosmetic mouthwash will loosen bits of food from your teeth, lessen bacteria in mouth, temporarily reduce bad breath and leave a refreshing taste in your mouth. These products can't make a greater claim than that. Therapeutic mouthwashes contains active ingredients like chlorhexidine, fluorides, cetylperidinium etc, which have proven active against fighting plaque and bacteria (s) in mouth for longer duration.

2. Mouthwash is harmless:
Many mouthwashes contains high amount of alcohol which may cause dry mouth and ironically in turn causing bad breath. Alcohol free mouthwashes are also available. Active ingredients like chlorhexidine causes temproary altered taste in mouth and is not recommended to be used for longer duration.

3. Mouthwash cures bad breath:
Mouthwashes temporarily curtains bad breath. Causes of bad breath are variable and should be accessed before unjustified use of mouthwashes.

4. Mouthwash can replace brushing:
Mouthwash acts as an add-on, not replacement for brushing and flossing. Use of mouthwash in conjunction with brushing and flossing will improve overall personal oral hygiene.

5. A little swish will do:
Generally we swish mouthwash in a few seconds because of its bitter taste or lack of knowledge. Mouthwash should be diluted as per the instructions given by the manufacturer and should be swished vigorously for 30 seconds.

My son is 2 years old. His is very weak and his teeth are becoming black and getting cavities. Also he is not eating anything means not getting hungry. But he is quite active. Please let me know what may be the reason?

Certified Implantologist, BDS

Its called nursing bottle caries or could be rampant caries. After feeding the child the milk will be in the mouth leading to cavity. Make the child drink some water to wash away the milk. However once cavity occurs it requires proper management. Prefer to go to a pedodontist a dentist specialist for children.

Actually it is difficult to say which is the best toothpaste can opt for colgate / pepsodent because it cause less abrasion compared with other toothpaste root canal is the only option if you want your tooth to be saved later I shd put a crown (cap) otherwise the tooth may fracture the last opt is extraction.

Seeking immediate medical attention after a tooth has fallen is very important. Till then one can try keeping it in place or wrapping it in a piece of plastic or soaking it into milk.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Patients with an identifiable cause of bad breath e.g., periodontal (gum) disease, gingivitis, postnasal drip, systemic illness can be treated for these conditions.
Many cases of bad breath may be readily alleviated by:
Proper dental care and oral hygiene, including daily flossing.
Gentle cleaning of the posterior portion of the dorsum of tongue (e.g., with a plastic tongue cleaner).
Rinsing and deep gargling with an effective mouthwash (in order to get the liquid as far back as possible without swallowing it, one can extend the tongue while gargling). This is most effective when done at bedtime.
Eating fibrous foods (a healthy breakfast is recommended).
Chewing gum briefly (5 minutes is often sufficient) if the mouth is dry, or after meals, especially with high protein intake. Sugar-free gum is preferable.
Sufficient water intake.
Decreasing alcohol and coffee intake.
