I was having a tooth that became partly broken and also loose. Tonight at dinner part of the tooth has come out part is remaining with the gum. But there was no bleeding. My platelet count is low. What to do now. Should I get the remaining part of the tooth extracted or leave it as it is. I am scared for extraction since bleeding may not stop. What is the minimum platelet level when the tooth can be extracted.

After examination and certain tests the dentist concern will decide for extraction or save the tooth, for saving you will have to undergo a lenghty treatment, Root canal, core pin development and then the crown. Whatever is suitable get yourself treated.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening procedures (bleaching or laser) and / or artificial enamel filling. You may consult me in person too. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

Hello Lybrate user, yes braces are possible at your age too, im surprised why your doctor didn't gave you that option. Gaps can easily be closed by braces. Also there are other options like veneers and laminates for closing the gaps. Hope this helps.

Visit the dentist. Dentist will take the x ray and check the depth of the cavity and the x ray. Then confirm whether the tooth can be saved or tooth will require removal.

The child needs endodontic care. If you can get me a x-ray of the teeth I will be able to tell you better. But in most of the cases root canal can be done and ss crowns given because the tooth beneath is gonna erupt at least 5-6 years later and we need to save the tooth for proper guidance to the permanent tooth. I hope this helps.

Why use Sealants?

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Why use Sealants?

Dental sealants are barriers that can protect one's teeth from developing cavities. Made out of plastic material, there are usually applied to the molars and premolars at the back of the mouth.

How are dental sealants applied?

  • The teeth on which the sealant is to be applied is cleaned properly and then dried. A solution containing acid is applied on the teeth to make the surface rough, as this helps the sealant bond well with the teeth.
  • Then the teeth are rinsed, following which they are dried. Finally, the sealant is applied. At times, a special light is used to make the sealant dry easily.

Reasons to use dental sealants:

  • The chewing surfaces of the teeth are aided by dental sealants. Sealants are thin coatings that are painted on those areas.
  • One main reason for using sealants would be that even though brushing and flossing can remove the food particles stuck in the grooves of the teeth, at times some particles may be left behind. Sealants can prevent this.
  • The sealant spreads over the enamel in the grooves of the teeth, acting as a shield. This prevents food particles from getting stuck in the pits and fissures of the teeth. When such food particles are stuck in the grooves of the teeth, cavities are likely to form. Applying sealants can prevent this.
  • Children, who are at a greater risk of developing cavities, are often advised to use dental sealants to prevent their teeth from decay and damage.
  • Adults whose teeth have suffered considerable decay may seek the help of sealants to protect them.
  • Adults who have had fillings done in their teeth cavities may also apply sealants in order to prevent any further damage in the near or distant future.
