I am 22 years male, I feel sensation in the teeth whenever I take something cold. Please suggest a quick relief measure to overcome this problem.

BDS
Dentist, Kolar
This could b either due to sensitivity due to loss of enamel surface or due to decay of tooth. Tooth decay can b treated by filling of tooth or by rct n capping of the decay is deep. Sensitivity can b reduced by using desensitizing toothpaste such as senquelF or sensodyne toothpaste by rubbing some amount of toothpaste onto ur tooth surface n wait till 5 mins before rinsing it off. Get ur teeth evaluated by dentist to know the cause of ur problem n get treated accordingly. Regsrds.

I am suffering from mouth ulcers. Please tell me the treatment for this. What I have to do?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Get a check up done from a dentist to rule out any local irritants like a sharp cusp of tooth, ill fitting dentures etc. Even deficiency of vitamin c vitamin b 12 can cause ulcers. Stress is also one of the cause. Once local factors are ruled out, he will suggest you some medications for the same. For further details, you may consult me.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

Sir I have a cavity what can I do? Is there is any solution that myself can treat?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
•If your cavity in the tooth is caused by decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection.

Certainly curable. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning and artificial enamel filling or root canal treatment. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food or milk after dinner to avoid tooth decay. My age is 26. I cleaned my teeth recently in clinic for the first time and I don't want to clean it every year because it creates teeth gap and damages to the teeth. Can better care avoid me to go to the clinic again?

BDS
Dentist, Zirakpur
Getting teeth cleaned every 6 months is just like you taking a professional care of your face, hair etc. Cleaning dosnt create gaps. Cleaning removes tartar from inbetween the teeth and if you maintain that cleaniness your gum will fill up that triangular gap. -care all you need is two times brushing -interdental cleaning -tongue cleaning -restrict in between meals -decrease the frequency of sugar intake -rinse your mouth everytime you have something even after all this you might be needing a professional cleaning once a year because after you have your meal their is a deposition of a layer on your teeth which is called plaque. That plaque if not removed turns into calculus (tartar) professional cleaning remoces tartar.

Proper Brushing

Proper brushing is essential for cleaning teeth and gums effectively.

Use a toothbrush with soft, nylon, round-ended bristles that will not scratch and irritate teeth or damage gums.

Place bristles along the gumline at a 45-degree angle. Bristles should contact both the tooth surface and the gumline.

Gently brush the outer tooth surfaces of 2-3 teeth using a vibrating back & forth rolling motion. A rolling motion is when the brush makes contact with the gumline and is moved downward toward the chewing surface. Move brush to the next group of two to three teeth and repeat.

Maintain a 45-degree angle with bristles contacting the tooth surface and gumline. Gently brush using back, forth, and rolling motion along all of the inner tooth surfaces.

Tilt brush vertically behind the front teeth. Make several up & down strokes using the front half of the brush.

Place the brush against the biting surface of the teeth & use a gentle back & forth scrubbing motion.

Brush the tongue from back to front to remove odor-producing bacteria.

Remember to replace your toothbrush every three to four months. Researchers have established that thousands of microbes grow on toothbrush bristles and handles. Most are harmless, but others can cause cold and flu viruses, the herpes virus that causes cold sores, and bacteria that can cause periodontal infections.

Since teeth cleaning is as important for children as for adults, they should use a toothbrush which has a small round head and soft bristles. It helps in cleaning their milk teeth thoroughly.

My wisdom tooth is paining, after taking pain killers it's a bit fine. What do I do.

BDS
Dentist, Chandigarh
The wisdom teeth rarely erupt straight. They have gum tissue above them which gets swelled up if some food gets struck and as tooth is far behind brush can't reach there. This can lead to cavity in partially erupted tooth. So without examining it is difficult to pin point the cause. Any pain killer will relieve the pain but the reason of pain needs to be found and treated.

I am 29 years old having teeth pain while eating and drinking cool water, some times it even swells near the left cheek. so, please suggest me what to do.

BDS (GOLD MEDALIST)
Dentist, Jamshedpur
Hi, pain can be due to some conditions like cavities, tooth abcess, gum disease and fracture of tooth. You may have caries or enamel erosion which is causing pain from cold and hot food. Go to a dental clinic to rule out the cause of pain. After that treatment plan can be decided.

My name is unnikishanan I am having pain inside my mouth near the gum of my molar teeth but I did not found any cut or wound. Dear sir /madam please tell me the reason.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.
