Oral Sex

Oral sex involves using the mouth, including the lips, tongue, and teeth, to stimulate a sexual partner's genitals (i.e., his or her external reproductive organs). It often involves kissing, licking, sucking, nibbling, and blowing.

Oral sex is performed by heterosexual couples, by men who have sex with men (MSM), and by women who have sex with women (WSW). When oral sex is performed on a male, it is called fellatio (pronounced fĕl-ā’-shē-ō) and when it's performed on a femaile, it is called cunnilingus (pronounced kŭn-ĭ-lĭn-gŭs).

Fellatio involves using the mouth to stimulate the penis and scrotum. Cunnilingus involves using the mouth to stimulate the vulva, the clitoris, and the vaginal opening. Oral sex that involves the anus is called analingus (pronounced ān-ă- lĭn-gŭs).

Oral sex is an important part of many healthy sexual relationships; however, as with other sexual behaviors, it is important to practice safer oral sex to reduce the risk for sexually transmitted disease (STD) and HIV/AIDS.

Safer oral sex practices involve the following:

Avoid oral sex when there are open sores (e.g., cold sores), cuts, or broken skin in the mouth or the genital area

Avoid oral sex when one partner has an active sexually transmitted infection (e.g., genital herpes, genital warts)

Wait at least 30 minutes after brushing the teeth, flossing the teeth, or having dental work (including dental cleanings) before performing oral sex (brushing, flossing, and dental cleanings can cause gum irritation and bleeding)

Wear a latex condom (flavored condoms are available), female condom, or a dental dam (flat, latex barrier worn in the mouth)

Withdraw the penis from the sexual partner's mouth prior to ejaculation

Oral sex between consenting sexual partners often is extremely pleasurable and satisfying. In fact, for many women, cunnilingus provides just the right amount of stimulation to produce orgasm. Oral sex does not carry a risk for pregnancy.

Open communication is an important part of any sexual relationship, including relationships that involve oral sex. Many men and women enjoy performing and receiving oral sex, but serious problems can develop in the relationship if one partner enjoys oral sex and the other does not. Sex therapists can help couples resolve a number of sexual issues, including issues involving oral sex.

Im 25 years old I have gap in my front teeth so what will be the treatment for my problem.

Im 25 years old I have gap in my front teeth so what will be the treatment for my problem.
If the gap is not too wide, you can go for cosmetic dental restorations / laminates/vennering/crown restorations as per dentist's recommendation. Best treatment for you would have been braces but its costly, time taking and not required just for 2 or 4 teeth spacing problem.

Q: WHAT CAUSES MOUTH ULCERS? A: Mouth ulcers are an ulceration of the mucosal membrane in the mouth. Often confused with cold sores (which are related to herpes and form on the lips or face), mouth ulcers are not viral or contagious and form only inside the mouth. Research has yet to identify exact mouth ulcer causes, but studies have found links with: Stress Oral trauma Genetics Inflammatory bowel disease Triggering foods and/or chemicals Women are more likely than men to develop recurring mouth ulcers, and young adults suffer more frequently than older adults. Lacerations such as cuts from braces or accidental biting of the lip or cheek can also lead to mouth ulcers. About 20% of people get recurring mouth ulcers and more than 60% of people will develop a mouth ulcer at least once in their lifetime. Q: HOW LONG DO MOUTH ULCERS LAST? A: Mouth ulcers typically form on the floor of the mouth, the cheeks, the tongue, or on the soft palate and last 1-2 weeks. Q: HOW CAN I PREVENT MOUTH ULCERS? A: Minimize stress: take time off to relax, eat right and get plenty of sleep. Take care of your mouth: Be careful when eating dry, crunchy foods. Any sharp, hard edges in your mouth can cause cuts that lead to mouth ulcers. Also, excessive dryness of the mouth can lead to mouth ulcers. For some people, triggering foods like nuts, spices, or food and drinks high in acidic content can lead to sores. Q: WHAT’S THE BEST MOUTH ULCER TREATMENT? A: There are a variety of treatments for mouth ulcers, ranging from over-the-counter treatments to home remedies: Drink plenty of water Avoid spicy foods Maintain proper dental hygiene Apply an ice cube to the ulcer for temporary relief Rinse mouth with salt water Over-the-counter oral pain relievers H-B12 Melts (topical hyaluronan bioactive vitamin B12) are long-lasting adhering discs that help relieve temporary pain caused by mouth ulcers. The melts hold to the gum, tooth, or brace nearest the ulcer and slowly dissolve for hours of soothing pain relief.

I have gap between teeth. What should I do to remove it. I don't want to go for braces. That looks ugly.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
I have gap between teeth. What should I do to remove it. I don't want to go for braces. That looks ugly.
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations (Model study, Full mouth & profile x-ray) & clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need fixed / removable braces. Requirements may depends on the age, complaint, duration of the treatment & affordability. Cost of cosmetic dentistry (braces) varies with dentist. You may consult me in person. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.
