I am assuming you are talking about beta thalassemia, which is the common one in this area. If you have beta thalassemia minor and your husband does not, then there is no chance that the baby can have the major form of thalassemia which is a disease of extreme concern and requires multiple blood transfusions throughout life. The baby would either have a normal pattern or at most get thalassemia minor, in which hb stays on the lower side, but the person is otherwise healthy, like in your condition.

Hi Continuing her treatment of thyroid her histopathology of endometrial lining should be done to rule out disease of endometrium. Ideally hysteroscopy may be added but that is your choice. After histopatology treatment can be given. Histopathology will be done by gynaecologist and pathologist combined.

For now it is not sure that you are pregnant or its the effect of progesterone, these are hormone and should be take as prescribed only. So for now do as your doctor says and do not take/ continue any medicine without consultation of your doctor as it may be harmful.

Hello, you should wait for at least 2 weeks to allow your menses to resume and repeat the urine pregnancy test again after 5 days which if negative shall rule out pregnancy. A urine pregnancy test is sensitive only after 8 days post missed periods.

I love the concept of healing with food, food as medicine, or as I like to call it, food pharmacology

Turmeric is a plant of the ginger family that is often used in Indian cuisines. This plant has a long history of medicinal use, and  it’s most studied active ingredient has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial and antiviral activity.

Historically, turmeric has been used to treat pain , stomach and liver ailments , many skin conditions like  sores, eczema and skin rashes.

Excess inflammation is always present in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (the suffix "itis" denotes inflammation in the thyroid gland .It is most common cause of Hypothyroidism). Turmeric can be helpful in reducing whole body inflammation

Studies of the effect of curcumin, the active ingredient of turmeric on the thyroid gland and autoimmunity have showed encouraging results.

Curcumin showed tumor inhibiting activity in thyroid cancer.

Curcumin was protective against the genetic damage and side effects induced by radioactive iodine that is sometimes used to treat Graves’ disease (hyperthyroidism)

Curcumin has anti-inflammatory benefits that can be helpful in down-regulating autoimmune conditions

While curcumin can also boost glutathione (an antioxidant that's often depleted in Hashimoto's)

Use of turmeric helped in reducing pain , increase in energy , improvement in mood and an improvement in thyroid antibodies

Daily intake of curcumin in a typical Indian diet may be anti-inflammatory, however, curcumin is cleared from the body within one hour or so
Combining curcumin with piperine, (found in pepper), extends the life of curcumin in the body, helping it to stick around longer.

I also made Turmeric Tea (recipe below) twice per day

1 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of ginger
pinch of pepper
pinch of cinnamon
juice of one lemon
sweetener to taste (Stevia is Dr.Tanvi’s  top recommendations)
1 cup of hot water

Directions: Put all ingredients in cup of your choice, top of with boiling water and mix!

Thank you for Reading it. I hope it will be helpful to you.

Side Effects of Different Contraceptive Methods

DGO, MBBS
Gynaecologist
Ask Free Question
Use of contraceptives is really important to avoid unwanted pregnancy. Countries like China and India, facing the problem of population explosion lay more stress on the use of contraceptives. However, you must always use or take oral and barrier contraceptives following the advice of a medical practitioner unless it is absolutely necessary to go ahead without consultation. The reason behind medical assistance is your own health. Contraceptive methods do have a vast range of side effects that can result in health hazards. There are various kinds of contraceptives; each having its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Being acquainted with the side effects of some contraceptive methods can help you choose wisely in times of need.

Possible side: effects of using Condoms: Some men are allergic to latex. Using condoms can lead to heightened sensitivity. It can also lead to rashes in your genitals. Condoms are not foolproof. They do not provide total protection against sexually transmitted infections, HPV or against Syphilis and Herpes. These diseases can be contracted by coming in contact with genital skin that is not covered by a condom.
Possible side: effects of a Contraceptive Film: A contraceptive film might act as an interruption in your sexual activities if it is not placed properly, that is to say it must come in contact with the cervix to be effective. Using the film nonoxynol- very frequently can make you susceptible to life threatening diseases like HIV and other STIs.
Possible side effects of a Cervical Cap: A cervical cap has to be inserted by a clinician and requires immense care to be fitted in later. Some of its side - effects can be of serious concern. If it is left inside for more than forty eight hours, it can result in toxic shock syndrome. Toxic shock syndrome is an infection that mars your overall health. It is also known to increase the chances of inflammation of the surface of your cervix.
Possible side: effects of Progestin only pills: Progestin only pills or mini pills can subject you to long- lasting depression. It can make you feel bloated and can actually increase your weight to a great extent if used on a regular basis. Minipills lead to irregularities in your menstrual cycle and might also make bleeding during menstruation scanty.
Possible side: effects of combined oral contraceptives: If this is your first month on combined oral contraceptives, you might feel nauseous and they can give you a terrible headache. Women taking these pills have a higher chance of developing cervical dysplasia.
