I have peeling on one breast Nipple and sometimes blood on applying any fluid cream. Or otherwise sometimes little blood without applying anything. I m. Unmarried. Is it Breast cancer sign or serious.

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, MRCS (Edinburgh), Fellowship In Breast Surgery, Fellowship In Onco-plastic Breast Surgery
Oncologist, Gurgaon
Blood stained discharge from the surface of the nipple is not a normal sign. It can either be associated with eczema, which is usually bilateral of with Paget's disease, which can be a sign of an underlying problem. It is best to visit a Breast Surgeon and get yourself check up.

I had fibroadenoma excision surgery 10 days before there were no pain or discomfort till yesterday. Yesterday accidentally excision site got pressed becoz of my hand bag. After that m feeling very little pain while bending or moving. Pain is not continuous but m feeling it sometimes. Is it normal to have such kind of pain or should I consult to dr.

lybrate-user, Such pain is normal after a breast surgery and can persist for upto 2 weeks after surgery. I would suggest taking a mild pain killer like paracetamol 650 mg. You can try wearing a sports bra, as it will reduce your pain.

Give me all the advantages and disadvantages of silicon breast implants. My cousin wants this surgery within 4 months is it safe for her or not?

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, MRCS (Edinburgh), Fellowship In Breast Surgery, Fellowship In Onco-plastic Breast Surgery
Oncologist, Gurgaon
lybrate-user, There are many ways to get a breast augmentation done. Silicone is one of them - the problem with silicone implants is that they start giving trouble after 10-11 years and they need to be changed after that period. Also capsular contracture is a common problem which can give rise to pain along with these implants. Autologous fat grafting, in which fat is taken from your thigh or abdomen and inserted into the breasts to augment the size is one of the most natural ways to augment the breast and you can consider that as one of the options for your cousin.

I am 18 years old and I think I have gynecomastia i. E man boobs from last two years. I am doing gym from last two years and couldn't see any change in my chest. I will really appreciate it if you will help me Thank You.

Lybrate-user, gynecomastia (man boobs) are a common problem in young males. At your age they commonly occur due to hormonal changes but if they persist for more than 6-8 months, it's difficult that they would resolve on their own. The only permanent solution is to get a minor surgery done to correct he problem.

Breast Cancer in patients with Breast Abscesses

Breast Cancer in patients with Breast Abscesses

In the last week, I have seen two patients who have presented with features of a breast abscess but they ultimately turned out to be breast cancers. Although, inflammatory breast cancers are a known entity and they can present as breast abscesses but this fact is not well known among patients and many general practitioners, which leads to late detection of these cancers.

With this case, I want to highlight some pointers to diagnose these lesions early. A 39-year-old, nonlactating mother presented to with complaints to swelling in the right breast for the last 3 weeks. She had already taken a course of antibiotics from a general practitioner but did not get relieved of her symptoms. On examination, she had a swelling involving the skin fold below the breast (inframammary crease) with swelling and hardness spreading till the lower part of the breast. In addition to this, she had lymph nodes (glands) in the underarm area (axilla) as well.

An USG revealed a lump in the breast associated with the fluid collection, which on biopsy turned out to be an invasive cancer. Fortunately for the patient, on further examination, the cancer was found to be restricted to the breast and the underarm area only.

When should we suspect that a breast abscess can actually be associated with a malignancy (cancer)?

A nonhealing breast abscess - which is persisting despite antibiotics and surgical management
Breast abscess in a patient who is not lactating.
Breast abscesses in elderly patients
Breast abscesses associated with hard lumps in the breast
Patients with these symptoms should get an ultrasound and biopsy done to confirm the diagnosis. In India, another entity which should be ruled out is Breast Tuberculosis.

Dear lybrate-user, it appears that you have developed gynecomastia, which is male breast enlargement. The various causes could be, drug induced, testicular problems and liver problems. Visit a doctor, r who can rule out these problems. Once that is done, you will require a surgery to get rid of the problem.

How to get rid of man boobs commonly called gynecomastia. How to increase testosterone production in male. With help of exercises as well as medicine which have not bad impact at body.

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, MRCS (Edinburgh), Fellowship In Breast Surgery, Fellowship In Onco-plastic Breast Surgery
Oncologist, Gurgaon
Dear lybrate-user, gynecomastia or male breast enlargement can either occur without any cause or it can be secondary to other problems like: 1. Medicine intake 2. Liver problems 3. Testicular problems you need to rule these out first. Once that is done, then the decision for surgical or non surgical management can be taken.

Sir I am suffering with male breast tumor now its on growing stage what should I do.

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, MRCS (Edinburgh), Fellowship In Breast Surgery, Fellowship In Onco-plastic Breast Surgery
Oncologist, Gurgaon
Sir, sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Male breast cancer is extremely rare (1%) but if it occurs, the diagnosis needs to confirmed by biopsy and treatment needs to be started immediately. Depending on the stage, treatment will be surgery, chemotherapy/ radiotherapy, hormonal therapy.

Dear sir, this problem is known as gynecomastia (male breast enlargement). Firstly, this condition needs to be evaluated as it could be secondary to testicular problems, hormonal imbalances and drugs. If the problem persists for more than 4-5 months, surgical management is the only option.
