I think I have relied to this question in private communication. Do follow the same. You would get results sooner. Engage him in constructive activities I mentioned. Like showing playcards of glenn domen concept (downloadable from web), give blocks to play, drawing painting, singing, music, playing more n more with peer group, dancing, activity in splash pool might help. This can be solved at greater level with" pediatric developmental physician if you have any in your vicinity. Feel free to contact again.

My daughter is 11 months old and diagnosed with partial lactose intolerance at 2.5 mths old, she was partially taking mother milk until 7 mths age, she is now taking only zero lac milk powder. Her weight has been constant at 8 kg since past 2.months. what special care that should we do ? Any diet plan that she can recover on permanent basis ? I will be very gratefull.

Pediatrician, Delhi
Lactose intolerance is usually transient. Have you tried to introduce cows milk again or not ? You must try by giving some rice kheer or dahi chaval and wean the baby off the zerolac milk .

My daughter seems to b underweight vit just 13. 5 kg n she is about to complete her 6 yrs. She is in 1st standard and loads of studies n 6 hrs of school .she feels very tired when she comes from school. We like to have some increase in her weight. She takes food but not vit full heartedly .what can b done to Inc her weight n height.

MBBS, MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Delhi
I understand your anxiety about health of your daughter. She is expected to have a weight of 19-20 kg at this age. You also are disturbed about heavy load of studies. It will be ideal to keep a record of her diet in last 24 hours so that we can calculate her calories &protein intake. This is known as dietary recall. At this age she should take 3 meals with 2 times good quality snacks. Each meal should be 250gm .it should have v ariety of food items so that she gets carbohydrate, protein, fat ,minerals &vitamins in required amounts. Please observe food &hands hygeine & food should be given in a pleasant environment. She also needs medical check up to rule out any illness. The children are not supposed to be overloaded with studies at this tender age. Regards.

Neonatal hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver that occurs in early infancy, usually one to two months after birth. About 20 per cent of infants who develop neonatal hepatitis were infected with a virus causing inflammation of the liver either before birth through their mother, or shortly after birth. Viruses which can cause neonatal hepatitis in infants include cytomegalovirus, rubella (measles), and hepatitis A, B and C. In the remaining 80 per cent of affected infants, no specific cause can be identified, but many experts suspect a virus is to blame. There is no specific treatment for neonatal hepatitis. Vitamin supplements are usually prescribed and many infants are given medications which improve bile flow. Formulas containing fats more easily digested by the body are also given. It will take 2 months to cure fully

BHMS, MD - Alternate Medicine

There may be Acid-peptic disorder. Gastritis can cause it. Sometimesford may not digest properly and fermentation takes place, which leads to. Irregular food habits, lack of exercise, exessive intake of food, late night dinner habits. All may also cause it. Take a change in food pattern, go for simple easily digesting vegi. Foods. Nat phos 6x, 3 tabs 3 times before foodwill relieve.

Nature's Cavity Fighter

BDS

Nature's Cavity Fighter

Fluoride is a mineral that helps fight tooth decay. It is found in public water supplies, toothpaste and many other dental products.

Often called, “nature’s cavity fighter,” fluoride helps repair the early stages of tooth decay even before the decay can be seen. Research shows that fluoride helps prevent cavities in children and adults by making teeth more resistant to the acid attacks that cause cavities. When you brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste, use other fluoride dental products, and drink water with fluoride you are preventing cavities and strengthening your teeth’s outer surface, called enamel.

If you have a good chance of getting cavities, your dentist can apply fluoride to your teeth during your dental visit. Your dentist might also tell you to use a special fluoride rinse, paste or gel at home

My six years old son has been passing stool in clothes in day as well as in night. We have consulted more than doctors but no result. Please tell us the possible cause of this?

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
It is called encopresis and usually due to psychological problem. Find out any stress inducing events in the family or school. It will resolve slowly. Get an mri spine to rule out a neurological problem which sometimes may cause that.

The MPS Diseases. The Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPSs) are rare genetic disorders in children and adults. They involve an abnormal storage of mucopolysaccharides, caused by the absence of a specific enzyme. Without the enzyme, the breakdown process of mucopolysaccharides is incomplete. The life expectancy of these individuals is 10 to 20 years. Individuals with mild MPS II also have a shortened lifespan, but they typically live into adulthood and their intelligence is not affected. Heart disease and airway obstruction are major causes of death in people with both types of MPS II.

Typhoid Fever - Follow These Steps and Prevent It!

MBBS, DNB (General Medicine), Certified in Evidence Based Diabetes Management, MNAMS, MRCP (UK)
Internal Medicine Specialist, Kolkata
Typhoid Fever - Follow These Steps and Prevent It!

Typhoid is an infectious bacterial fever with an eruption of red spots on the chest and abdomen and severe intestinal irritation, brought about by the Salmonella typhi bacteria. It can also be brought about by Salmonella paratyphi, a related bacterium that generally causes a less extreme sickness. The bacteria are stored in water or in the food by a human carrier and are then spread to other individuals around them.

There are many ways to avoid typhoid fever:

  1. VaccinationTake one dose of the vaccine one week before travelling. The other is given orally in four cases, with one container to be taken every alternate day. Neither one of the vaccines is 100% effective. Both require repetitive immunisation since the effect of vaccines diminishes over time.
  2. Washing your hands: Frequently washing your hands in hot, soapy water is the most ideal approach to control contamination. Wash before eating or cooking food and after using the toilet. Use a hand sanitiser in cases where water isn't accessible.
  3. Drinking clean water: There are a few ways in which you can avoid getting typhoid fever spread by contaminated water.
    • Abstain from drinking untreated water.
    • Contaminated drinking water is a specific issue in areas where typhoid fever is endemic. Thus, drink only boiled or filtered water, or canned or packaged carbonated drinks.
    • Carbonated filtered water is more secure than non-carbonated filtered water.
    • Request drinks without ice.
    • Use filtered water to brush your teeth and try not to swallow water in the shower.
    • Clean water can get contaminated again in case it is not put away securely.
    • Store the clean drinking water in a container with a little opening and use it within four hours.
  4. Staying away from raw fruits and vegetables: Maintain a strategic distance from crude foods grown in the ground. Since crude produce may have been washed away in water, maintain distance from products of the soil that you cannot peel, particularly lettuce. To be totally protected, you might need to stay away from street food completely.
  5. Cooking: Pick hot foods. Keep away from food that is put away or served at room temperature. Steaming hot nourishments are ideal. Also, in spite of all precautions, there is no assurance that the food served at the finest restaurants is safe for your health. It is best to stay away from foods served by street side vendors. Completely cook all meats, fish and vegetables. Eat them while they are still hot.
  6. Washing: Wash your dishes and utensils with proper dish washing soap and water. Wash your cutting board particularly well with a cleanser and water.
  7. Peeling: Peeling fruits and vegetables protects you from typhoid. Eat natural products that have been freshly washed and peeled, for example, oranges and bananas. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can ask a free question.
