The best way to prevent back pain and'slipped' (prolapsed) disc is simply to keep active and to exercise regularly. This means general fitness exercise such as walking, running, swimming, etc. There is no firm evidence to say that any particular back strengthening exercises are more useful than simply keeping fit and active. It is also sensible to be back-aware. For example, do not lift objects when you are in an awkward twisting posture.

Heel pain ( Calcinitis ) also known as plantar facitis especially in the morning is commonly seen in young adults. It does not require treatment. Pain killers ( anti inflammatory drugs ) will only give temporary relief. Calf muscle exercises, aerobic exercises and good foot wear are the only things that help. Cold sponging with ice will help in reducing the pain

Hello doctor,
My father suffering from savior backache, so my dad consult 8 doctors approx. Give your's special advice!
Please note that the diagnosis is required for his treatment. As you can understand that there are several reasons for a simple back-ache the cause needs to be identified and then treatment would follow. Do a mri of lumbo-sacral region and get back to me for treatment. Also do hot compresses. Take mag phos 6x - thrice daily 4 tablets for next 7 days.

Goodevening your acl tear injury should not be ignored. Make sure you spend about half hour on the exrercises for the knee. You could start with knee bending exercises and then progress to straight leg raising exercises. All this will help you to improve your strength on the knee. Then you could also do with a improving on your quadriceps and hamstring muscles. Make sure you wear a knee cap while you are playing any sport. This will support your knee very well.

My uric acid test's result is 6.39. What should I do now. I have pain in my whole joint and I am only 21 years old.
Your Uric acid level is within normal range. It seems you have pain in all joints of body, this can be due to arthritis condtions like Rhematoid arthritis or Spondyloarthropathy etc. For diagnosis you need to undergo certain blood tests and also a detailed description of your illness is needed. Follow these tips to get relief. 1. Take simple analgesics like paracetamol for relief. 2. Engage in physical activities like walking or swimming once pain has decreased. 3. Take a healthy diet rich in calcium. 4. Can apply cold pack to painful areas. If problem is very severe and not controlled by simple measures, consult a pain specialist in your city.

For me always a pain at centre point of spinal cord & back neck pain What is the solution for bone and nerves weakness/ please inform me.

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are many causes of pain in lower back region. It can be due to faulty posture, related to weak muscles, issues with intervertebral disc, narrowing of spinal canal, any bony instability besides many other, so accurate diagnosis is the key to proper management of the condition. You will have to elaborate your problem as to a detailed discussion of your back pain which means duration of pain and mode of onset. I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any leg pain or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias (electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Massage with your thumbs from the mid points of the shoulder blades on both sides towards the lower back of your head up to lower level of the ears. Use oil or water for massage. Rotate your head clockwise and anticlockwise, forward and down, left and right a few times. Do for 5 to 10 times morning and evening. Give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem. Further do some wrist rotation exercise. Inform after 5 days.

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

Rest. Take a break from your normal activities. Ice. Place an ice pack or bag of frozen peas on the sore area for 15 to 20 minutes three times a day. Compression. Use a compression bandage to reduce swelling. If masturbation is causing you more pain, you should avoid it for a few days.

Dear Lybrateuser, - The basic principle of exercise is that you have to gradually increase the time & intensity of your workout - if pain is there you are harming the body by overdoing the exercises - take rest for 2-3 days or till pain subsides then again start gradually & change every 2-3 weeks - take a pain relief tablet if pain is more - apply pain relief gel three times a day - warm up by cardio & stretching for 5-10 min before starting a session & cool down after it - have a snack about half an hour before a workout like a fruit, a glass of milk with chocolate powder, nuts, a sandwich & also a protein snack after it - drink water before, during & after a workout - take advise of a physical trainer who will guide you properly for your workouts.
