Namaskar, main Dr. Prakash Jain, acupuncturist, aj me aapko acupuncture ke barein mein thoda bataunga.

Mera parichay:- 18 saal se main practice kar raha hoon, teen saal Delhi mein raha aur solah saal se phir Gurgaon mein hoon.

Acupuncture ek drugless therapy hai. jiss mein koi drug ka istemal kiya nahi jata. Bahut hi mamuli bareek si patli si needle ke dwara, jise sui kaha ja sakta hai, usse ilaaj kia jata hai. Yeh sui aapke kuch chitra kendron par lagate hai aur uske dwara rog o ka ilaaj hota hai. Yeh is prakaar se hota hai ki hamara sharir mein jo bhi blood chal raha hai, jo bhi fluid chal rahe hai is ko chalane wala energy hai. Yeh energy jab bhi ruk jaati hai toh waha blood bhi ruk jaata hai, fluid ka transaction bhi ruk jata hai. Ab yeh ruk kyun jata hai energy ka flow, hamara aahar, vihar ke kaaran, koi bhi accident hua aur energy ki line kat gayi samjho, ya phir galat dhang se hamara khaan paan

galat hai toh iss ke wajah se bhi energy ka flow ruk jaata hai, yaani imbalance hota hai. Hamara janma jaat, kudrat, jo sharir mein energy dete hai, iss ke dwara hamara sampurna vyehwar chalta hai aur yeh energy jab bhi koi bhi kaarano se uss ki rukawat aa jaati hai toh phir kaam bigad jaata hai jaise koi fracture ho gaya, koi accident ho gaya, aur waha energy ka flow ruk gaya toh phir waha sharir apne aap ko theek toh karta hai lekin jo energy ka flow ruka hua hai, blood ka stagnation kar deta hai aur fluid ka stagnation kar deta hai jiss ke kaaran muscles hamara tense ho jaate hai aur humein pain hota hai.

Pet ki kahi prakar ke garbariya hoti hai toh hum jo galat aahar vihar khate hai jiss ke kaaran sharir mein gas aur acidity badhti hai. Iss ke kaaran hamarein sharir ke angein bhi prabhavit hote hai aur uss ke kaaran energy ki rukawat hoti hai jise hum acupuncture paddhati ke dwara yeh rukawatein kholte hai. Sharir mein chauda pathways hain energy ke jise hum meridian kehte hai. Har prakar ke meridian mein, kisi mein dus point hai, kisi mein pandra point hai, kisi mein bees point hai toh jahan bhi, ek science hai jiss ke dwara woh point pe hum needle laga ke energy ke flow ko kholte hai jaise liver mein koi sujan aa gayi hai, ya gadbad ho gayi toh liver ke pathway mein jitne bhi point hai uss mein jo jo point mein humein zaroori lagta hai, waha pe hum needle laga ke energy ka flow ko kholte hain aur liver ki pranali tandurust karte hai. Jiss ke kaaran liver se sambandhit samasyaein apne aap samapt ho jaati hai aur aaram milta hai.
Acupuncture se jo bhi safal ilaaj hote hai aur turant relief milta hai woh koi bhi painful problem ho aapka, kamar ka pain ho, chahe gardan ka pain ho, chahe peron main dard hai, toh yeh toh immediate relief milta hai. Jis din aap treatment karwayenge, ussi din needle lagwayenge aur aap ko aaram milega. Toh yeh acupuncture ki details hai.

Ab jo acupuncture hum nahi karte hai woh janmajaat bachhe hai chhoti umar ke, bahut hi vriddha hai, bahut hi debilated hai, ya pregnant mahilaein hai, kuch samay tak uss ke acupuncture dwara ilaaj hum nahi karte. Baad phir shuru karte hai.

Acupuncture ke ilava Sujok therapy, Sujok mein hum magnet lagate hai, toh main magnet aap ko dikhata hoon. Iss prakar ke magnet lagte hai body pe, yeh jo magnet aap dekh rahe hai woh haatho aur per pe yeh magnet lagate hain. Jo acupuncture se darrte hai unka magnet ke dwara ilaaj hota hai, baaki sui k dwara ilaaj hota hai.

Toh iss prakar ki chhoti chhoti, chhoti bareek sui ya hoti hai jo hum point mein needle laga ke sui se ilaaj karte hain. Jaise mujhe sar dard hai, toh yeh samjho sar dard ka point hai, yaha hum yeh needle lagayenge. Ek needle lagaya hai koi pain nahi hai, yeh painless needle hoti hai aur mujhe sar dard mein aaram milega. Aise sar dard ke kaafi sare points hote hai. Jaise ki migraine hai, bahut saal purana, toh iss tarike se tamaam samsya ka ilaaj hota hai.

Thank you very much.

Role Of Acupressure In Treating Fibromyalgia

Role Of Acupressure In Treating Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a musculoskeletal disorder that is more prevalent among women (in the age group between 25 - 60 years) than men. The condition often results in muscular and joint pain along with extreme tiredness. Further, there may be severe headaches, body stiffness, insomnia or sleeping disorders, high sensitivity to extreme temperatures, abdominal pain, Irritable bowel syndrome and also Fibro Fog ( a condition triggered by Fibromyalgia, whereby an individual is unable to concentrate on anything). In some, the condition can trigger severe anxiety, stress, and depression.

While discussing Fibromyalgia, it is important to mention about the Tender Points or Trigger Points. These are delicate points and areas located throughout the body where even a gentle tap or pressure is enough to cause pain. Some of these trigger points in Fibromyalgia include:

  • upper chest.
  • back of the head.
  • knees.
  • top of shoulders.
  • outer elbows.
  • hips

Some of the common factors that play a significant role in triggering Fibromyalgia are

  • Stress and Trauma: Fibromyalgia may be an outcome of extreme physical, mental and emotional turmoil (which often creates a hormonal imbalance) or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
  • Fibromyalgia may be linked to genetics and hereditary. People with a family history of Fibromyalgia are more susceptible to the painful condition.
  • In some individuals, an autoimmune disorder such as Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis can also be a contributing factor resulting in Fibromyalgia.

Acupressure to treat Fibromyalgia

People often opt for Alternative Therapy to treat Fibromyalgia. Individuals with Fibromyalgia benefit immensely from Acupressure. Acupressure is a popular alternative therapy that finds its origin in China. It channelizes upon the use of pressure at certain points in the body to ease the pain. Some of the acupressure points that are often used to relieve the pain, especially related to the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, in Fibromyalgia include:

  1. Stomach 36 (ST 36): ST 36 holds great significance in providing a soothing and calming effect in people with extreme stress and anxiety (one of the critical symptoms associated with Fibromyalgia). ST 36 is located in the depression of the tibia (lateral side), at a distance of about four fingers downwards from the patella or the knee. Gently and slowly massaging the point for 3-4 minutes is said to provide great relief.
  2. Ren 17: Another acupressure point that goes a long way to lower the anxiety and physical stress is Ren 17 or the chest center. This acupressure point is the middle of the chest (anterior midline), at the fourth intercostal space from the second rib downwards.
  3. Ear Shen Men: The Ear Shen Men is an important acupressure point in the triangular fossa, at the upper region of the ear. People with physical and emotional stress benefit from this acupressure point.
  4. Pericardium 6: The Pericardium 6 is in the mid arm region (lower and inner part of the arm) between the two tendons at a distance of four fingers from the wrist crease. In addition to a great soothing effect, Pericardium 6 is beneficial for people with nausea.
  5. Yintang: Nothing works more like the Yintang to relieve stress and anxiety. The acupressure point in between the eyes at the eyebrow level. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can ask a free question.

Acupressure - Understanding The Procedures!

Acupressure - Understanding The Procedures!

Acupressure is a traditional Chinese healing treatment modality which works on the principle that the human body carries a dense network of energy pathways. When these get blocked, the smooth flow of energy too is disturbed resulting in various diseases.

The Chinese identified points along these pathways which if stimulated, could re-balance the whole energy system and help in countering disease. This, in short, is the basic guideline of Acupressure.

Procedures
Since energy pathways include some running at the accessible range of a needle, acupuncture, a form of acupressure uses needles, as fine as human hair, inserted in different acupuncture points on the hands and feet of the patient to normalise the energy flow. Acupressure also works on these pressure points but without the needles. The basic guideline of both acupressure and acupuncture is the same, and just the methodology differs. In acupressure, a practitioner uses fingers, seeds, blunt instruments and other objects to put pressure on the acupuncture points to normalise energy flow.

How is acupressure treatment given?

  1. Each point is on a meridian that is connected to a particular important organ of your body. So a sore point on your kidney meridian may indicate a problem with your kidneys.
  2. The practitioner listens to your case history and then starts treatment by pressing points on your hands and feet. He puts sustained pressure on each point while taking feedback from you about the soreness of a particular point. A sore point indicates a problem in blood circulation and stuck energy.
  3. It is how an acupressurist diagnoses and then cures a particular health problem.
  4. Acupressure can also be practised by you yourself by pressing points on your body. You need to be trained to do this, however.
  5. After putting pressure on points for anywhere between 30 minutes to one hour, the acupressurist usually attaches a tiny magnet to the point with tape for 24 hours.
  6. Anyone can go for acupressure treatment
  7. It has proven to be extremely efficacious in treating infertility, liver problems, pain, stress etc.
  8. It takes several sessions to cure a disease.
  9. While some practitioners merely treat local symptoms, genuinely trained acupuncturists practice their art as a comprehensive system of holistic medicine which heals the body, mind and the spirit.

Precautions
There are no side effects of acupressure if precautions like the following are taken-

  1. Pregnant women should take care not to go in for acupressure treatments.
  2. Patients with life-threatening diseases like stroke or heart disease should consult their doctor before using acupressure or other alternative therapies.
  3. Acupressure does not cure bacterial infections so acupressure is contra-indicated for UTIs for example.
  4. Acupressure is also not a treatment for cancer, contagious skin diseases, or sexually transmitted diseases but can help alleviate symptoms.

After an acupressure session, take care to protect yourself from cold as your body heat is lowered. So, keep warm when you finish an acupressure routine. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can ask a free question.

Chronic Pain - How Acupressure Can Help You Get Relief?

Chronic Pain - How Acupressure Can Help You Get Relief?

Acupressure is an ancient Chinese healing therapy for curing a host of chronic diseases and ills, from headaches to back pain, infertility and menstrual cramps.

It is built on the concept of maintaining the balance of various body elements including blood, nutrients and the energy force known as ‘chi’ which flows along lines called meridians in the body for optimum health. Putting pressure by finger placements at designated points from where these meridians can be accessed, is supposed to unblock the flow of energy to get rid of chronic pain and disease.

Acupressure for pain-relief

  • Acupressure is used for a variety of ailments. One of its most common uses is to relieve pain, such as back pain, sciatica, menstrual cramps and headaches.
  • It can also be used to help with nausea and vomiting, fatigue, stress, weight loss, and even addictions.

Acupressure helps relieve pain in different ways, like

  • It is believed to cause deep relaxation and a decrease in muscle tension and is thus useful in relieving low back pain, post-operative pain, and headaches.
  • L4 point, for example, is commonly used for stress, facial pain, headaches, toothaches, and neck pain.
  • It is located on your hand between your thumb and the index finger.
  • Liver 3 point (LV3) is also used for stress, lower back pain, high blood pressure, menstrual cramps, insomnia, and anxiety.
  • This point is located in between your big toe and second toe, in the soft flesh.
  • You can press these points yourself for about 4 seconds and then steadily reduce pressure to experience relief from pain.

How does acupressure work?

  • Studies have been done and are still being done to understand how acupressure relieves pain.
  • They suggest that acupressure releases endorphins and promotes anti-inflammatory effects, helping with pain due to arthritis like back and limb pain.
  • Endorphins are the pleasure-inducing, painkilling chemicals that flood the brain and numb pain signals.
  • A few theories also call acupressure something that’s all in the mind and no more than a placebo. But either way, it does provide relief to patients when done over long periods of time.
  • Acupressure is also an effective way to treat depression during pregnancy, and to reduce the pain of menstrual cramps, according to a new research done at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Similarly, a recent Korean study has found that acupressure treats menstrual cramps more effectively than pain killers. If you want to benefit from acupressure, you need to press the pain points over time as each time you manipulate the pressure points, you help balance your ‘chi’. Some people may see results immediately, and sometimes results are seen after some time. Pain can also return. You have to keep pressing the pressure points to keep the pain away forever. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

Pain - How Acupressure Can Help?

Pain - How Acupressure Can Help?

Acupressure therapy, often referred to as pressure acupuncture, is regarded as an effective method in pain management. According to popular belief, the vital energy known as ‘chi’ flows across the major meridians or energy pathways. There are 12 primary meridians or energy pathways connecting particular organs that organise a communication system across the body. Illnesses take place when any one or more of the meridians fall out of balance.

Some of these acupressure points include the following:

  1. Valley joints for relieving headachesThis is located in the fleshy regions between the index finger and the thumb at the highest area of the muscle when both these fingers are brought close together. The point is pressed and massaged for a few minutes and is repeated for some time. This treatment is not recommended for pregnant women.
  2. Pericardium for relieving nauseaThis point is placed between the two tendons within the wrist, which is located at a distance of about three fingers width below the base of the palm. This point must be pressed with the middle finger for some minutes or you can also opt for acupressure wristbands from a health store and use them properly.
  3. Third eye region for relieving stress and chronic fatigueClose your eyes and find out the third eye region in the knobby spot located on the bridge of the nose in between the two eye brows. You can press this point with the middle finger for some time and then release and repeat the process several times in a week.
  4. Sea of tranquillity for relieving emotional stress: Also referred to as the conception vessel, this area can be easily located at the centre of the breastbone and can be pressed with the palms joined. Make sure that the spine is erect and supported by a straight chair at the back. You can press it for a couple of minutes every day while taking slow and deep breaths to release emotional stress.
  5. Leg three miles for relieving stomach problems: The leg three miles is believed to improve digestive issues, such as diarrhoea, indigestion, bloating, nausea, constipation and vomiting. It also helps in improving the immunity system, fighting fatigue, strengthening the body and promoting general wellness. Moderate to deep pressure can be applied for a couple of seconds on a regular basis.

Acupressure, which is a traditional Chinese treatment, involves the application of pressure at specific acupressure points, which lie along the meridians of the body for promoting relaxation as well as treating illness, and can be opted for regulating and managing pain in several parts of the body. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an acupressurist.
