Firstly there's no lifelong cure for the common cold. Antibiotics are only effective against infections of throat and are of no use against cold viruses. Over-the-counter (otc) cold preparations won't cure a common cold or make it go away any sooner, and most have side effects. A saltwater gargle 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2tsp turmeric dissolved in a glass of warm water can temporarily relieve a sore or scratchy throat. To help relieve nasal congestion, try saline (pure salt water) nasal drops. If you have a throat infection, or a viral cold then I will prescribe appropriate meds based on your detailed assessment. Do reply back for medications. Being also a general physician, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary tips taking into account patient preferences.

Hi! Rakesh, Here is an best medicine for you which will surely give you relief One of the simplest home remedies for a cough is to cut onions. Breathing in the strong vapors can help stop coughing. You can also make a cough syrup from baked onion juice, comfrey tea and honey. Drink it daily to get relief from a dry cough. Another option is to combine one-half teaspoon of onion juice with one teaspoon of pure honey. Swallow this solution at least twice a day to alleviate a cough and soothe your throat.

Take 11 guava leaves, 11 black pepper, 1 cup milk and one cup water. Put all of them in pot and boil it well, when it reduced to one cup, drink in empty stomach. Take this daily for at least six months or a year. Boil cumin seeds in water and inhale the steam. It helps dilate the bronchial passage. take normal water always.....donot have curd , buttermilk , cold drinks....take 1 basil leaf early morning empty stomach

My wife facing breathlessness. Is there any other causes of this symptom? How can it be diagnosed?

General Physician, Cuttack
1. It could be due to stress/anxiety, lack of hemoglobin, asthma or cardiac problem 2. She needs a thorough physical examination to find out the cause of breathlessness 3. Consult physician for advice and treatment.

Hello. Most probably your mother is suffering from a condition named as Delirium. Delirium is fairly common in patients admitted in ICU & most common cause being fluid-electrolyte imbalance, organ failure etc. Delirium often manifests as altered behavior, irrelevant talks & reversal of day night cycle with sllep during day & wakefulness at night. Your doctor's should first focus on correction of your mothers lung problem & also take a Psychiatrist consult to control symptoms of delirium. All the best.
