Hi, we are new couple. Kindly suggest us the right way of contraception is it a condom or pill? does pill have side effect's?

M.D. homoeopathy, BHMS

Yes, pills do have side effects, as these are hormonal preparations. There are many contraceptive methods. Timing your intercourse with menstrual cycle is also one of them. But, remember none of the methods provide you withh 100% safety.

My last period was due on 20th February. My period comes after 30 days. I had sex on 5th, 9th, 11th and 17th of March. Can I be pregnant? I am anxious to know about this. Please reply to me.

There are some chances of pregnancy from sex on 5th March being your 14th day (If that was unprotected sex). Since today or tomorrow is your due date theoretically, get tested for pregnancy using a home pregnancy test kit. If positive see a gynecologist immediately. At this early stage it is possible to abort the pregnancy with tablets and supervision. IF there is no pregnancy, relax and take abundant precautions hereafter. Best wishes!

If it is done through abdomen the risk of pregnancy loss is lesser than if it done vaginally. Difference in risk maybe 0.5% to 5%.

Hello lybrate-user. After reading your question I suggest you to visit nearest Gynaecology clinic as in your case physical and local examination is necessary. Why are you thinking about pregnancy? Are you into any physical relationship? Is there any history of unprotected intercourse with your partner? If the answers of all these two questions are negative then don't think of pregnancy.

Weakening of Blood Vessels - Understanding the Types!

Weakening of Blood Vessels - Understanding the Types!

What is Aortic aneurysm?
The heart is the most important muscle in your body, and its primary job is to pump the blood across. The aorta is the largest blood vessel of the human body and is used by the heart to push the blood along. The Aorta is also one of the strongest vessels, but in some cases, due to the wear and tear condition the walls can weaken and bulge in what is called an aortic aneurysm. This can cause a rupture of the vessels as a result of which, blood gets leaked into the body.

Types of Aortic aneurysm:
There are two known types of aortic aneurysms. One of which is located in the chest and is known as the thoracic aortic aneurysm, and the one which forms in the abdomen is called an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Thoracic aortic aneurysm
There are many causes of the Thoracic aortic aneurysm. Genes play a significant role in increasing the chances. The other factors can include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, infections and blockages in the arteries. Sometimes a traumatic injury due to an accident can also lead to the condition. The biggest disadvantage of the disease is that the symptoms do not occur in the early stages and only in their chronic stages they appear. Some of the symptoms include chest or back pain, difficulty in breathing, shortness of a breath and persistent cough. Diagnosis can be made by an X-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound. Medications can help to an extent in relieving the pain and symptoms but however, in some extreme cases surgery is required. During the surgery, a synthetic tube replaces the damaged artery- as a result of which the blood gets channelled without any hindrances.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm
In the case of an abdominal aortic aneurysm, the aorta that passes through your abdomen gets damaged. As in the event of the Thoracic aortic aneurysm, there are no visible symptoms initially. Symptoms if they appear can include a deep back pain and persistent pain the side of the abdomen. Dizziness and weightlessness can also be other factors. Once again as in the case of the Thoracic aortic aneurysm, high blood pressure and cholesterol levels can be the risk factors. The problem also gets aggravated when the person is a frequent smoker and drinker. The diagnosis can happen through an X-ray, CT scan or an ultrasound. Once diagnosed, medications can heal the symptoms to an extent. Routine checkups are usually done to check the condition. In the cases where the bulge is bigger, surgeries are done to relieve the damaged part.

As with many cases, a good lifestyle change and healthy habits can keep many of the conditions in check. The same goes for an aortic aneurysm too. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

Hi
My wife had delivered baby normally on 20 Jan 17. Now she is ok. When we can start sex?
Dear user. In olden days it was almost 6 months. But in present medical advanced conditions, you can have penetrative sex after around 4 months of delivery. You should consider your wife's condition. On delivery she had a large wound inside her uterus and it takes time to heal. Give rest to her and give support. Take care.

Hello my wife asking to suck her boobs hardly. But aftr sucking she is telling that she getting pain but she feels happy with this any problem will be there.

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
You must have hurt her badly. Though she is not complaining much. Be little more gentle next time. Meantime don't do it again so soon as pain means inflammation due to tissue injury. And you have to give rest to the part. Note if there is redness and bruises etc. She can apply local ice cold compress to reduce inflammation. A short course of pain killer like tablet combiflamm. 1 tab twice daily after food may be tried (unless she has any allergy to the drug or any acidity or history if asthma.).

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. Oral contraceptives (birth control pills) are medications that prevent pregnancy. They are one method of birth control. Oral contraceptives are hormonal preparations that may contain combinations of the hormones estrogen and progestin or progestin alone. There are no serious side effects. Take care.

She hasn't missed her period as of now, but if she has had an unprotected sex, there might be a chance, however the given symptoms could be due to psychological stress or low BP. I guess you have to wait until her next due date ,or you may get her for a check up, you may also get her sugar levels tested, see the reasons are many, I suggest you take an audio or video consultation so that we may have a conversation ,and based on that ,we shall be able to advise you further on this.
