Hi doctor, I am 24 years old. I have vitiligo disease in mouth. How do cure? please advise.

MDS - Oral Medicine and Radiology, BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Hi, vitiligo is a skin disease in which there are white patchy areas on skin. It does not occur in mouth. If you have white patches in your mouth, the condition is completely different. We will need photograph of your lesion so that we can know what it is and treat accordingly. Regards.

Hi lybrate-user perhaps your teeth have a deposit of plaque/tartar/calculus you should get scaling (cleaning) done by a dentist all the best.

Sir, for each people just like skin color, the tooth color will be different by nature and cannot be changed. You can visit a dentist and get a scaling procedure done. If the yellow color is external stains and dirt then that treatment will be effective. There are some procedures like bleaching to whiten the teeth if you are still not happy, but these are used in extreme cases where the teeth is very discolored only. You can ask your dentist to suggest a toothpaste for whitening the teeth, which may be effective to some extent.

MDS - Periodontics, BDS

You can apply Kenacort paste locally on the ulcer thrice daily, mucopain gel thrice daily before food. It will take some time for the ulcer to heal naturally.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedures. You may consult me in person too. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

Hi lybrate-user. YOu may use homoeoapthic toothpaste Heklalava by wheezal. Also massage your gums with Turmeric and salt. Twice daily. Take vitamin C.

My mother feels severe sensitivity and ache in her lower molar teeth (2nd one). The dentist found a slight brackishness in the X-Ray of her tooth but said there was no major problem. My mother still got her Root Canal done and to the dentist's surprise, there was no blood after the procedure. What does this indicate? The tooth is not dead also. Her pain has not alleviated even after Root Canal. What could this possibly be? Does this indicate a problem other than a root/tooth problem? She is 51 years old.

I feel the tooth is not a vital or living tooth (the nerve in the tooth is dead) if there was no blood during the root canal. Hence in my opinion the problem should be with the bone which surrounds the roots of the tooth. You should get a x-ray done, if there is a dark area surrounding the root, after root canal treatment, then a small surgical procedure called apicectomy can be performed which should help.

I am suffering from mouth ulcer. How can I get rid of them and why are they coming? They give a lot of pain as I cannot eat, drink and even talk. Help me to get rid of them.

HI lybrate-user, Mouth can be caused due to vitamin B 12 deficiency, hormonal imbalances, stress, certain medications, over heat in the body etc. It is important to maintain good oral hygiene, avoid spicy and acidic foods like citrus fruits etc. Drink more water, take antibiotics under doctors prescription, or OTC ointments etc. You can also apply butter and take vitamins rich fruits vegetable and nuts. For few days try to eat bland and liquid foods which can help to an extent. It is better to consult a doctor. Wishing you good health. Hope this helps.
