Hello doctor, my wife is a depression patient & she is taking medicine viz. Peri Cr 12.5mg & clonax 0.25mg once a day. Now she is around 12 weeks pregnant. We are worried about, are these medicines safe at this stage for my wife as well as for our baby.

Fellow Observership, Certificate in Forensic Psychology, MD-Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Akola
Hi, good presence of mind to confirm risks of medications! Congratulations! Clonax 0.25mg needs to be immediately stopped as it can be harmful to growing baby. Pari-CR is NOT ENTIRELY safe, but depending upon your wife's symptom improvement & severity of her depressive illness. It can be continued with strict observation like 2 monthly ultrasound & some other blood tests. So contact your Ob/Gynecologist & discuss about these tests & your wife's current condition. Also keep your wife's Psychiatrist informed about her pregnancy & current status as Depression tends to flair up during last 2 months of pregnancy or immediately post delivery. You can also contact me for further help. Good Luck!

Sir/madam I have lost my son. He was Just 6 year and 5 month and was the only child. My world has lost. I want to know that he started tractor by mistake which was in gear and run upto 40meters and hit with wall as the tractor hit the wall he jumped from tractor no one was there we ran toward him after hearing the sound. We found him lying near tractor away from wheels of tractor. He was alive then. We ran toward doctor by car. I was continuously press his heart and breathing him with his mouth. When We were mid of our way then I breath him through his mouth blood came through his nose when we reached to hospital. They declared him dead. No marks was there on her body. I every time think about the incident what would be the possible reason of his death because blood came through his nose. Was there cardiac arrest. Was internal injury. Was head injury. I want to know the reason. One more thing please my wife is now 34 year what should I start giving her so we can plan for our next baby. She has thyroid with high level of tsh.

Hi lybrate-user I am very sorry for your loss. This was very tragic. It is difficult to comment on the exact cause of death at this point. It could be head injury or some other internal injury. You are being very brave by thinking ahead. Planning another child will help you recover from this loss. For planning to conceive, you need to control the TSH. Please see an endocrinologist or let me know her TSH levels and the current dose of medications she is on. If she has regular menstrual cycles, start trying naturally (the best time to do so is the middle 10 days of the cycle). It is a good idea to get some basic tests done if you don't conceive in 3-4 months. Please let me know if you need any further help or information. Hoping God will give you both the strength to bear this loss and move ahead.

Its been a long time. Now you must have a blood test-hb% and thyroid profile. Also get a u. S. G. Of lower abdomen for uterus and adenexae. Once we'll find the problem, u'll get the correct solution. You may start taking 5gm ajwain with some gur (jaggery) twice daily.

If is the pregnancy that you are worried about, it might be safe to have unprotected sex in the last week of your cycle i. E. One week before the next due date of menstrual periods. If you are worried about sexually transmitted infections, then there is no solution, you have to use barrier condoms all the time.

pregnancy test can come positive after even two weeks of abortion..and blood in urine can cause a false positive test. So dont trust that. The best would be to get an USG done to scan the uterine cavity when the bleeding is over

Cervical Cancer - 4 Common Causes

MBBS, DGO, DNB - Obstetrics and Gynecology

Cervical Cancer - 4 Common Causes

Cervical cancer is a type of cancer which emerges from the cervix. It occurs due to the abnormal growth of cells in the cervix (lower part of the uterus) of the female reproductive system. Cervical cancer is the most common type of cancer found in women, worldwide, and can be treated with successful results, if discovered at an initial stage.

This type of cancer can be caused by multiple factors, some of which are:

  1. Human papillomavirus - One of the major causes of cervical cancer is the human papillomavirus (HPV). There are more than 100 types of HPV. During sexual intercourse, a minimum of 40 types of HPV are passed, out of which 15 of them are high risks for cervical cancer, including types 16 and 18. 7 out of 10 women, who suffer from cervical cancer, are infected by types 16 and 18. However, most women, who are sexually active, will come under the influence of at least one type of HPV in their lifetime, without any kind of harm caused to them.
  2. Smoking - Smoking increases the risk of cervical cancer in women. It helps in the development of HPV, which is a major cause of this type of cancer. If a woman is already HPV-positive, smoking increases the probability of being diagnosed with cervical cancer by leaps and bounds.
  3. Oral contraceptives - Research shows that taking contraceptive pills increases the risk of cervical cancer in women. Women who've been on contraceptive pills for over 5 years are twice as more prone to being diagnosed with cervical cancer than those who are not on the pill. But as soon as you stop the intake of pills, the increased risk of cancer drops immediately.
  4. Multiple pregnancies - Having multiple pregnancies is linked with increased risk of cervical cancer. Having seven or more pregnancies increases the risk of this type of cancer in those women who are already influenced by HPV by four times. And those who have had one or two full-term pregnancies, also under the influence of HPV have two to three times the risk of being diagnosed with this illness.

Symptoms
Knowing about the symptoms of cervical cancer can help in the early diagnosis of this disease. However, in the early stages of the disease, there are no such noticeable symptoms. Although these signs can help you understand if you've got cervical cancer:
1. Abnormal vaginal bleeding, i.e. bleeding after sexual intercourse or after menopause
2. Longer period cycles
3. Bleeding after douching

Symptoms in the advanced stages of the illness are:
1. Loss of weight
2. Back pain
3. Leg pain
4. Fatigue
5. Swelling of legs
6. Fractures
7. Pelvic pain
8. Leakage of urine/feces from vagina

If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

Spotting is not a sign of pregnancy. Since pregnancy test is negative it must be only delayed periods. Wait for two or three days for free flow of blood. If not getting consult a doctor.

Hi sir/mam I found breast lump in left breast 8 months back but there is no swelling discharge or any symptoms but pain at time of menses that's it I saw in some articles all breast lumps are not cause cancer pizz give me suggestion it cause any severe condition in future what precautions I should take.

MBBS
Oncologist, Bangalore
Hi, It is true that all breast lumps will not lead to cancer. But it is not advisable to neglect any kind breast lump. A breast lump not causing any pain, swelling, discharge etc may silently turn into a cancer. I suggest you to consult a general surgeon and get it examined once. He/she will be the right person to tell you what it is. Take care.

Hello lybrate-user, I am sure you have been advised bed rest with leg end raised, medicines to support the pregnancy, to avoid exercise, weightlifting and abstinence etc. All these measures are to avoid a pregnancy loss. Dental problems during pregnancy are quite common. One of the most common dental conditions is pregnancy gingivitis, which can cause red, tender, and swollen gums that bleed easily. Pregnancy gingivitis occurs because of the increase in the hormone progesterone. Even if you're diligent about brushing and flossing, pregnancy gingivitis can still be a problem, if left untreated; it can lead to periodontal disease, which studies show increases your risk for having a preterm and low birth weight baby.
If you’re pregnant or planning to become pregnant, here’s what you can do to prevent dental problems :
1. Brush and floss
2. Get cleanings every 6 months
3. Eat right
4. Chew gum and drink water
5. Treat infections

Q:  Iam 22 years old girl when I was 18 I had sex with a girl like deep lip kiss and all then later I got married to a guy and had some sex nt exactly sex but deep lip kisses he kissed my breasts and all over the body and 2 times he licked my vagina bt soon he washed his mouth and me also cleaned my vagina we both dont have any disease or any cut or anything and it was his frst sex with me before he never had any physical relation with any1 and also me I dint have any physical relation with any guy except that girl of my same gender and iam nt a lesbian. And once I used to move his pennis with my hands he used condoms at that time once he dint use condom when I was moving his pennis with my hand the fluid fell on my hands and I washed it off immediately and he also cleaned his pennis but we never indulged in fucking or penetration or intercourse. So my question is I had sex with a girl of my gender then with my husband nt exactly sex as I mentioned above is there any chance of getting std or hiv to me or my husband? note-we never had any intercourse n I never kissed his pennis and I never gave him blowjob I just used to move his pennis up and down with my hands so that he gets pleasure thats it because we were nt ready for child at dat time. And nw we are divorced. And one more question is now am gng to get married to another guy and if I had sex with him then can I and the another guy am abt to marry get std or aids?

If that girl and your ex husband are not having std or aids then there is no chance of getting it. If you are worried then get yours test done for HIV.
