There are many reasons your gums could bleed.

In some cases, bleeding gums can be a sign of gingivitis, the early stage of periodontal disease. If your gums bleed easily or bleed when you brush, talk to your dentist about your oral health. Gingivitis is reversible and preventable.

Some pregnant women develop a condition known as “pregnancy gingivitis,” an inflammation of the gums that can cause swelling and tenderness. Gums also may bleed a little when brushing or flossing.
If you take blood thinners, these medications may cause your gums to bleed. Contact your physician if the bleeding does not stop quickly. Your gums could also be bleeding if you brush too hard. Use an extra-soft or soft-bristled toothbrush when brushing your teeth.

If your gums bleed regularly or enough to worry you, make an appointment with your dentist. It could be a sign that something else is wrong.

Always remember to brush your teeth twice a day, floss once a day and schedule regular dental visits.

Hllo sir My front teeth is broken 10 years ago I want to change it or want to place any cap on it so it become equal to other give me suggestions Thank you.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
If the tooth breaks, have the tooth contoured. Fill the crack in. Place a crown on your tooth. If the tooth has been badly damaged and the nerve or pulp is exposed, the dentist may have to perform a root canal to save the tooth. If the tooth has been severely damaged, it may have to be extracted.

Hello, Bleeding from gums could be because of deposits on your teeth and food lodged in between your teeth. You need to visit the dentist and get a deep scaling and polishing done. Brush twice a day. Maintain proper brushing technique. Rinse after every meal. Floss regularly.

For whiter teeth .brush regularly twice daily morning and evening. Rinse after all meals. Reduce intake of tea coffee and spices that tend to change tooth colour. Get scaling and polishing of teeth done. Bleaching of teeth can be done for whiter teeth.

My ortho treatment is going to end after 1 year of treatment. I was having relapse after my first treatment. That why I opt for 2nd time ortho. My two upper teeth was overlapping each other and there was class 2 malclusion and overcrowded. Now I want to know which retainer are best for me. Fixed or removable (wire or clear one) which choice will be best for me. Or should I go for both fixed on upper teeth and removable also?

Fixed retainer are the best one because first of all you dnt have to remove it and put it every day in your mouth. Secondly with the fixed ones the results are much faster. Thirdly the patient compliance is better and the dentist gets the result wht he wants. And lastly I wud recommend you to go for the fixed retainers ad this is your second time treatment so you need to be more carefull this time as everytime you undego trtmnt there are changes withing the bone which a hard to bring abt and stabalize. Regards.

One of the milder gum diseases, gingivitis is caused by the inflammation of the gums. By brushing and flossing daily, along with getting dental cleaning done regularly, it can be easily reversed.

Brush twice a day, keep tooth problems away: brushing twice a day removes the tiny left out food particles from the mouth and keeps it fresher and cleaner.

My molar tooth are getting black these days. Will I be need to have root canal done or any kind of fillings? Please advise.

Dentist, Jamshedpur
Hi teeth can be black may be because of two reasons like either tooth is dead or due to any staining. If tooth is dead rct is the option or any discolouration or staining then bleaching is the option. You need to be investigated and diagnosed for proper treatment plan.

I am suffering from payria disease. What are the medicines should be taken or what is the remedy of it? Should I use a toothpaste that remove such disease? If yes, which one? Can the payria be removed permanently or not?

Dentist, Gurgaon
This is a gum disease which advances with time and it comes to a stage when teeth become loose. As well. You have to get teeth cleaning done by dentist. And later he might advice you for a full mouth xray. To understand the level of the bone. And then accordingly some advance procedures may be advised to you. Usually if there is bleeding you can use a mouthwash for a month. Rinse two times daily. Or else if bleeding in gums does not subside. Kindly visit dentist.

My friend has mouth ulcer? How to cure it? Some people says it is bcoz body temp, is it true? If yes. How to control or minimize body temp?

Dentist, Lucknow
In mouth ulcers we need to know the cause causing it. It may be due to a sharp edge of tooth, spicy food, any vitamin b & c deficiency or any systemic probelm. Take lots of fluids.

Keeping retainers in hot water, pockets, napkins or on hot car dashboards can cause harm to them.

At the time of taking moderate hot tea. Or sweet, pain started in teeth for 10 to 15 minutes, what should I do?

BDS, Basic Life Support (B.L.S)
Dentist, Pune
Looks like it may be more than a simple cavity. See a dentist immediately since this can progress and you may need a root canal.

Drink and eat cold stuff like milk based ice creams, shakes, curd, it will reduce burning. And be careful not to have any hard food like chips, biscuits for one week. Sensations will be back by itself.

How to Avoid Yellowing of Teeth

How to Avoid Yellowing of Teeth

You look your best when you wear a smile on your face. Everyone prefers a smiling face over a frowned one. Since we are talking about smiles, one can never underestimate the role that teeth play in the beauty of a smile. Dental hygiene and care is mandatory if you wish to secure your beautiful smile for years to come.

However, the global statistics for dental care suggests that we do not care enough for our teeth. 60-90% of children who are in school and almost every adult suffer from dental cavities. Dental cavities are pretty common nowadays. And yellowing of teeth can now be seen in almost every other person. It spoils the smile and makes people conscious. By ensuring a few dental care habits in your daily routine lives, you can avoid yellow teeth.

Let us discuss the tips and tricks to avoid yellowing of teeth:

  1. Say no to specific foods: Yellowing of teeth is caused by food choices including coffee, red wine, sodas, juices, sports drinks, white wine, coloured candies and other artificially coloured foods. It will help if these foods are consumed in less quantity and frequency as they are the major contributors towards discoloration of teeth.
  2. Water after every coloured drink: Here is a habit that you must inculcate in your routine, whenever you consume any of the above mentioned food items. Post every drink or food intake which can cause tooth-staining, top it up with a glass of water. When you swirl or gargle the water in your mouth, you remove the acids that get accumulated in your mouth. It is one of the simplest preventive measures one can implement to avoid tooth stains.
  3. Dental Hygiene: Our parents and dentists kept reminding us all the time to brush twice a day and gargle with water post every food intake but did we listen to them as kids? No we did not. Proper brushing, flossing and going for dental checkups at regular intervals are sure shot ways to keep your teeth healthy for majority of your lifetime. One must develop these habits quite early in life to gain benefits from it.
  4. Whiten those Yellow teeth:  You might be at that stage of your life where inculcating the above mentioned habits won't do much good. The damage might already have been done. Your teeth are probably yellowish already and you have a history of dental cavities. In this 21st century, there are ways to whiten your teeth artificially with the many alternatives available in the market. One can opt for a solution, which can be done at home itself or go for a laser whitening which is now possible at a dentist clinic.

So there is still hope for those who are unable to share that smile with the world due to the yellowing of teeth. Nothing is irreparable here and the health of your teeth lies in your hand.
