Hello, It depends how much the mobility is affected and other aspects. I need you to get MRI Brain, BP/ Full Blood tests including Cardiac profile/ Please scan and send me. Only thing at this stage he needs to be supervised to avoid any damages that may occur and counsel him to comply and donot use force telling doctor has said. If he refuses he needs to be superised or use a walker/stick to walk to bear with rigiddity tremors and weakness and lack of initiation of his movement when he intends to. Please contact me with all these details. We can consider starting on medicines if not prescribed or alter if necessary the treatment protocol or ad on to existing protocol of treatment. Do not panic. But protect your brother, you are doing and take it bravely as we have to accept the age and disease as it is not in our hands, but we can try rectifying it and have a better life.

My son faces some learning difficulties, lack of concentration & minute dyslexia as per our observation since last 2-3 yrs. He is 6 yrs old & will be going to class 1 in dwarka, Delhi, Need guidance & suggestions for ensuring that my son get over this issue as earliest as possible.

Masters in counseling psychology, Counseling psychologist, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapist
Psychologist, Mumbai
Firstly i would like to request you to not diagnose your son on your own observations, as it needs to be done only by a professional. There is no form of minute dyslexia. Either he has it or not. He can be a slow learner or just have difficulty with learning and concentration, not necessarily a learning disorder. So do not have assumptions as it can be anything else. Kindly take him to a professional psychologist and a pediatrician who will do a complete physiological and psychological evaluation. If he has any learning disorder it will be diagnosed. After that there are many training centers for children with learning difficulties or disorders. He can be trained properly and taught different learning techniques. Please take proper guidance from professionals as proper diagnoses will save you and your son from a lot of trouble.

Hi Thanks for your query. We will have to rule out a vascular cause for it and I advise you to get an opinion from a general surgeon/Vascular surgeon for it because it is difficult for any spine condition to cause numbness in both Upper and Lower Limbs. In any case please also let me know if you have any neck/ Back issues as well. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & Regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Patna
Dear shaking of hand may be due to anxiety or excessive alcohol use or thyroid disorder. Get tsh, t3, t4 done, stop alcohol if abusing. If you feel yourself worried always, can not relax, have dry mouth, palpitation, excessive sweating, churning sensation in stomach, dizziness etc then you may be suffering from anxiety. Treatment of anxiety with medicines may also cure this shaking of hands.

I got 3 children. The eldest daughter is suffered with fits during her childhood and become 50% mentally retarded. Other two are above normal in intelligence. Doctors says that she is behind 10 years of actual age. My question is how her condition will be cured?

MBBS, MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Chennai
Well sir usually mental retardation (intellectual disability) is an arrested development of human brain which is more of a permanent condition. Any child with early neonatal seizures with early childhood problem has more risk. But on the positive side usually children in the borderline or mild category can have good improvement with occupational therapy and domain specific training. My advice to you is kindly try to train her as any other kid daily and she should do well. Kindly consult an occupational therapist with expertise in this field for good results. Also be in touch with your psychiatrist for follow up. All the best.

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Continous chronic migraine needs prophylaxis treatment for decreasing migraine attacks and remission. For management of migraine you need to follow following things. 1) avoid fasting, skipped or delayed meals, excessive chocolates or coffee. 2) take proper sleep and timely diet medication can be started flunarizine amitryptiline: sedation common side effects topiramate: memory disturbances and risk of angle closure glaucoma and renal stone divalproate: weight gain you need to discuss with your treating neurologist about all these options and associated risk and side effects. The response to treatment comes in a month time with these medications. For instant pain control, pain killers may be taken. Hope you found the answer helpful. Do get back to me for further queries.
