How can I get rid of stress, strain and pressure that had been repeatedly creating a problem for my mind.

How can I get rid of stress, strain and pressure that had been repeatedly creating a problem for my mind.
Dear Samboj, Welcome to lybrate. Stress is simply a reaction to a stimulus that disturbs our physical or mental equilibrium. In other words, it's an omnipresent part of life. A stressful event can trigger the “fight-or-flight” response, causing hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol to surge through the body. A little bit of stress, known as “acute stress,” can be exciting—it keeps us active and alert. But long-term, or “chronic stress,” can have detrimental effects on health. You may not be able to control the stressors in your world, but you can alter your reaction to them. Physical exercise, creative activities, deep breathing, being away from the situation for sometime etc can help you tackle the stress. I need to know, what are the causes with which you are stressed? Once you know the reason, you will be able to adjust with it with some psycho therapy methods. Please let me know the details. Take care.

I'm 7 weeks pregnant. Since last 2-3 days I feel very hungry and have been passing stool thrice or sometimes more. There is a constant heart sinking feeling which is troubling me. Is that normal? What should Need to do?

Yes it is normal as it happens with changing hormones in your body. The sinking feeling is because of hypotension which occurs in pregnancy to felicitate more blood flow towards uterus for foetal growth. You increase uptake of fresh fruits and juices and take lots of liquid it will compensate hypovolemia n hypotension. No need to take any medicine for it. Enjoy your pregnancy.

Sometimes my body becomes weak and I feel unconscious, little difficult for breath heart starts beating fast and I really feel very disturbed can not sleep properly at night, what should I do.

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Hye, thanks for the query. You are underweight for your height. Most often we just have two meals a day which does not fulfill our nutrient needs. Poor eating habits causes weakness, low energy levels and poor immunity. Eat as per what the body needs. Being underweight can be a concern if it's the result of poor nutrition. Here are some healthy ways to gain weight when you're underweight: eat more frequently. When you're underweight, you may feel full faster. Eat five to six smaller meals during the day rather than two or three large meals. Choose nutrient-rich foods. As part of an overall healthy diet, choose whole-grain breads, rice and cereals; fruits and vegetables; dairy products; lean protein sources; and nuts. Don't fill up on diet soda, coffee and other drinks with few calories and little nutritional value. Instead, drink smoothies or healthy shakes. Snack on nuts, dried fruits and fresh fruits. Even when you're underweight, be mindful of excess sugar and fat. An occasional slice of cake or ice cream is fine. But most sweets should be healthy and provide nutrients in addition to calories. Sheera, lassi and chikki are good choices. Exercise, especially strength training, can help you gain weight by building up your muscles. Exercise may also stimulate your appetite.
