Hello, I am 38 years old and married in 2008. My wife's age is 35 years old. Since last 1.5 years, my wife's psychological behavior has been changed. Currently both of us thought are not matched. We are in position like magnetic needle north-south. From my side, she has full freedom. I was observed that she is in the menstrual period, the condition was worse.

Dear Lybrate User, Many couples think that they are poles apart. Husband and wife come from a different family/cultural/social/financial/educational backgrounds and each of them has a firm set of values and beliefs. Each one believes that only his/her values and beliefs are right/true and the other person is wrong, hence the conflict starts. In the initial period of marriage, each partner is trying to make the other partner happy and while doing so they compromise a lot on their own needs. At this stage in the relationship, there are no "personal boundaries" - everything belongs to both of them and both try to adjust a lot. But, as the time goes by, the "personal boundaries" start snapping back and this is the stage in the relationship, where the conflict starts. In a marital relationship, it is important to understand the needs and feelings of one's spouse. Giving each other, appropriate personal space and respecting other partner's views is also essential. Effective communication is vital for any relationship. It is possible that due to hormonal changes your wife might be experiencing some mood swings, but it need not cause so much disturbance in your family life. You may seek Professional help if you are in distress. Please consult a Marriage Counsellor. Take care.

Being in Love Will Lead You to a Healthy Heart and Life

Being in Love Will Lead You to a Healthy Heart and Life

Loving relationships are known to improve more than just your mood, it improve your looks and your health. Researchers believe that it might just be the best medicine for most people, as it helps keep your heart healthy, beat cancer and recover faster, boosts athletic performance and leads to spiritual and emotional growth.

Mentioned below are a few of the ways, in which love may lead to a healthy heart and life:

  1. Better Heart Health: Research has shown that women in healthy and loving marriages are less prone to contracting cardiovascular diseases, in contrary to those in stressful marriages. It has also been discovered that love reduces the likelihood of chest pains and suffering from angina despite having high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes in men.
  2. Lengthens Your Life: The National Longitudinal Mortality Study studied a million subjects and concluded that couples in a loving marriage tend to live longer and have lowered risk of getting heart attacks, pneumonia, cancer and cirrhosis of the liver. Their chances of committing suicide are also reduced by almost half.
  3. Faster Cancer Recovery: After extensive research, University of Iowa proved that patients of ovarian cancer, who were in loving relationships, had stronger WBCs i.e. White Blood Cells that kill cancerous cells, as compared to those in unhealthy relationships. They also concluded that patients in love recover quickly or completely eliminate cancer.
  4. Lowers Blood Pressure: Studies show that when couples are together, their blood pressure is significantly lowered. This research even proved that spending time with loving and supportive friends results in lower systolic numbers.
  5. Keeps You Slim: Being in love is a much healthier and better option than juice cleanse, when it comes to losing that extra weight. People in loving relationships produce more adrenaline i.e. an appetite suppressant and are more likely to hit the gym and make healthier lifestyle choices to look their best. Apart from that, sex is one of the best ways to lose calories and reduce your weight.

I spent the night with a sex worker. Will I get HIV?

Advanced Aesthetics

I spent the night with a sex worker. Will I get HIV?
The question: Hi I am a 26-year-old male and I had sex with a prostitute yesterday. I’m worried that I might get HIV. I am worried about getting it in the following ways:

We had sex twice – first time I used two condoms and second time I used only one. Do you think I should have used two condoms the second time?
She had a cold – is there any possibility of getting HIV that way?
She used an old cloth to clean my penis; could that cause HIV? She performed oral sex on me – is there any possibility of getting HIV?

Please help me. I am very worried. When should I get checked for HIV?
Here we try to answer the concerns expressed in the question in parts:

If two condoms are better than one: In case of condoms the phrase ‘two is better than one’ doesn’t hold true. In fact it’s more dangerous to use two since there’s added friction which can result in them tearing. And yes it’s possible to get HIV (if the aforementioned sex worker has HIV) even while using a condom if there’s a hole which is too minuscule to be visible to the naked eye. Here is all you should know about how not to use a condom.

If common cold could initiate transmission of HIV: HIV can’t be transmitted from one person to another the way the common cold or other flu spread. You can’t get HIV from someone if they have a cough or cold. The only way you can get HIV is through interchange of body fluids which can happen through sexual intercourse, blood transfusion, sharing injections (common among intravenous drug users) or similar methods where the blood or other fluids are transferred

If using an old cloth spread HIV: It’s impossible to get HIV from a cloth, because the virus can’t survive outside the body, it needs a temperature of 37 degree Celsius. Even if the cloth had HIV positive blood it’s a highly unlikely source of transmission.

If oral sex can lead to HIV infection: Yes it’s possible to get HIV through oral sex though the chances of transmission are fairly low.

When to go for a test: To find out when to get tested you can check out this article on testing for HIV. And finally a word of advice, not only are you risking sexually transmitted diseases like HIV but you’re also exploiting someone who’s probably been forced into that lifestyle because of circumstances beyond her control. Doesn’t that make you feel any sort of remorse? And let’s not forget it’s against our country’s laws. So stop visiting prostitutes and get a life. Read to find out if it is possible that we put an end to HIV/AIDS together.

Dear Lybrate user, If there is no any complications & menstrual bleeding is normal than not to worry. Coitus without protection is unsafe. Some time found sperm in seminal fluid too.

Excessive production of prostaglandins is one of the major causes for most signs and symptoms of dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea is almost wholly due to this and may be due to a tight cervix, the mouth of the uterus. Such cases improve totally after a normal child birth due to stretching of the uterine musculature. Secondary dysmenorrhea, however, needs proper investigating into in order to know the causative pathology. The underlying pathology needs to be treated to control painful menses. Pain-killers can only offer temporary relief. The common causes of secondary dysmenorrhea are pelvic infections, congestive or inflammatory conditions within the pelvis like endometriosis, uterine tumors such as polyps or fibroids, and the presence of a foreign body such as an intrauterine contraceptive device [IUCD]. Homeopathy has a promising role to play in cases of dysmenorrhea. The medicines are known to reduce the severity of the pain as well as to treat the cause, whenever possible. Every patient with dysmenorrhea may present with a different set of individual symptoms, which are carefully noted while deciding the homeopathic line of treatment. Homeopathic treatment is strongly suggested. You can easily take an online consultation for further treatment guidance and permanent cure without any side effects

Hello, If pregnancy is ruled out then you can actually wait till 15 days post missed periods and if still the menses don't resume then you can opt for a withdrawal bleed with progesterones.
