My Husband was operated for tumor in his brain (right) in dec 2013. After 2 months he regained some of his left leg movement and now walking slowly with cane. However, he could move slightly his left shoulder, close his fist. There are no movement in fingers or cannot open his fist. His Physiotherapy is still on going. Please , i would want to understand the situation.

Psychiatrist, Indore
Right side brain controls left side of body. Brain tumour on right was removed. So some part of the brain was removed. The work or function of that particular removed brain was lost. This was accepted because tumour would have killed him if not removed. So loss of function of part of body like hand arm and shoulder was sacrificed for him to be alive. Nature recovers some function but whatever can not be recovrered person have to live without and thank god for life.

Simple Tips To Overcome Sleeplessness (Insomnia)

BHMS
Homeopath, Delhi
Simple Tips To Overcome Sleeplessness (Insomnia)

@stick to a regular sleep schedule. Support your biological clock by going to bed and getting up at the same time every day, including weekends.

@ avoid naps. Napping during the day can make it more difficult to sleep at night. If you feel like you have to take a nap, limit it to 30 minutes before 3 p. M.

@ limit caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine. Stop drinking caffeinated beverages at least eight hours before bed. While alcohol can make you feel sleepy, it interferes with the quality of your sleep, and nicotine is a stimulant.

@ avoid late meals. Try to avoid heavy, rich foods within two hours of bed. Fatty foods can take a lot of work for your stomach to digest and spicy or acidic foods can cause heartburn.

@ get regular exercise. Regular exercise can improve the symptoms of insomnia, but it's not a quick fix. It takes several months to feel the full effects. Aim for 30 minutes or more of activity on most days but not too close to bedtime.

@ develop a better bedtime routine

@ it's not just what you do during the day that affects the quality of your sleep, but also those things you do to prepare your mind and body for sleep.
@make sure your bedroom is quiet, dark, and cool. Noise, light, and heat can interfere with sleep. Try using a sound machine or earplugs to hide outside noise, an open window or fan to keep the room cool, and blackout curtains or a sleep mask to block out light.

@avoid stimulating activity and stressful situations before bedtime. This includes vigorous exercise, big discussions or arguments, or catching up on work. Instead, focus on quiet, soothing activities, such as reading, knitting, or listening to soft music, while keeping lights low.

@ turn off screens one hour before bedtime. The light emitted from tv, tablets, smartphones, and computers suppresses your body's production of melatonin and can severely disrupt your sleep. Instead of emailing, texting, watching tv, or playing video games, try listening to a book on tape, a podcast, or reading by a soft light.

If by following these measures, still if there is difficulty to get a sound sleep, homeopathic medicines can be taken for some time to relax the body and assist in getting sleep. These medicines do not have any side effects and are not habit forming. There are various medicines to help insomnia, viz. Passiflora, kali phos, piscidia, nux, coffea, etc, but there prescription depends on individual case.

I think tab tegretal was started because your child had focal convulsions which has to be continued until the child is free from convulsions at least for a period of 2 years. It he has any other problem has to be taken care of.

I have migraine. I do not know much about this disease. I want to know what precautions should I take for migraine?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, self-care measures can help ease the pain of a migraine headache. Try muscle relaxation exercises. Relaxation techniques may include progressive muscle relaxation, meditation or yoga. Get enough sleep, but don't oversleep. Get an adequate amount of sleep each night. It's best to go to bed and wake up at regular times, as well. If possible, rest in a dark, quiet room when you feel a headache coming on. Place an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the back of your neck and apply gentle pressure to painful areas on your scalp. Medication: take bakson's mig-aid tablet/ 1 tablet 3 times a day.

Homeopathic Remedies for Autism

Homeopathic Remedies for Autism

The human brain is a unique and intricate organ, which performs many functions both consciously and subconsciously. However, during the formation of the brain within the mother's womb, the slightest of changes can cause damage to it, which manifest in many forms after birth. One of the forms it may manifest in is Autism.

What is Autism?
Autism, sometimes also classified as part of the Autism Spectrum disorder or ASD is a disorder of brain development, which will affect a child's capability to interact socially, in communicating through verbal and nonverbal means as well as exhibit repetitive behaviors. Some severe cases of these behaviors may also result in self-harm as well.

Other than this some other characteristics may be:

  1. Major to minor difficulties in motor coordination
  2. Intellectual disabilities
  3. Attention problems
  4. Gastrointestinal problems
  5. Sleep related problems among others

How homeopathy can help
Conventional medicine is mostly used to treat some of the symptoms but is never used to cure or provide remedies for autism. A proper professional homeopath will be able to guide you to get the best results for your child and reduce all the problems of autism, if not outright cure it. Some of the medications that could be used to treat autism are as follows:

  1. Carcinosin - This is very helpful in children affected by autism who are talented, but are obsessive, compulsive, stubborn and also have sleep related issues. These children may also have addictive disorders.
  2. Agaricus - This medication is very good for children who may be mentally and physically awkward and show symptoms like indifference, muttering, talking, shouting or singing but not answering to direct calls or questions. Agaricus is very effective for children who suffer from involuntary jerking when they are awake.
  3. Cuprum Metallicum - This works wonders when the child is being very obsessive, angry and is inflexible, tense and is very aggressive towards their parents. Some of these children may even exhibit malicious behaviors and are usually averse to touch or being approached.
  4. Androctonus - A child or a patient who tends to swing wildly from a stable good mood to a destructive mode can be calmed down or evened out by Androctonus. These children also exhibit behaviors of suspiciousness and quickness to act on their compulsion.
  5. Helleborus - This is a very effective medication when the child is slow and under active and seems to be depressed most of the time. Some of these children may also have muscular weakness and helleborus is very effective in treating them.

These are only a few examples of how homeopathy can provide remedies for your autistic child and thus is an effective solution. However, you may need to consult a homeopathic doctor who can tailor make doses and medications after diagnosing the specific symptoms that you child may be having.

The small bump that had developed after the fall may resolve on its own after some time. If you don't have any complications like headache, vomiting or any other complaints, then not much to worry. You can revert back to me if you want or visit me at my clinic if needed.

My 1year old son is cp patient. His development (physical and mental) growth is very slow. He neither sit alone nor his neck stand still. I consult with a paediatric and physiotherapist and they suggest levipil and lioresal syrup and some exercise respectively. But the progress is not so satisfactory. What should I do for his better treatment? Is he be normal in his future life?

DM - Neurology
Neurologist, Hyderabad
Dear friend, unfortunate that your son is a cp patient, but worry, he will definitely improve. Difficult to predict how much he will improve without seeing the patient status. Best thing is that he is only 1 year old. There is ample of time for his development. You started treatment in right time. Continue physiotherapy, provide adequate healthy diet. Learn all type of physical excercises, limb positioning taught by the physiotherapist, practice it daily frequently at home. Improvement will be slow, do not loose your heart, but improvement will definitely occur, how much improvement will occur that depend on your effort and patience.

Hello sir, my sister is a patient of epilepsy with psychiatric problems, since 4 years every test is being normal and she is not responding to any medicine right now she is on OXETOL 450 and FRISIUM 10 twice a day . Please help. She is 20 years of age .all the information is of patients.

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
As you say" she is not responding" I assume that her fits are still not under control then, and she continues to have psychiatric problems. In that case she may need a change of present medications according to her complaints. I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist for the same. If you feel so, you may contact me online for any further queries or assistance in treatment thereof.
