Preventing heat disorders

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
During summer, susceptible children and adolescents can develop heat stroke, which can even lead to death if not identified and treated in time.
Heat index is more important than the atmospheric temperature. A 42 degree temperature may feel like 46 degrees if the heat index is high.
Avoid prolonged exposure to sun when the temperature is high. Use an umbrella if you need to go out.
Wear light cotton clothes to avoid heat absorption.
Make sure that you are properly hydrated before you step out in the heat. The requirement of water in summer is 500 ml more than that in winter.
Summer drinks should be refreshing and cool such as panna, khas khas, rose petal water, lemon water, bel sharbat and sattu sharbat.
Any drink with more than 10% sugar becomes a soft drink and so should be avoided. Ideally, the percentage of sugar, jaggery or khand should be 3%, which is the percentage present in oral rehydration drink.
You should pass urine at least once in 8 hours. This is a sign of adequate hydration.
If you develop heat cramps, drink plenty of lemon water with sugar and salt.
Heat exertion presents with fever and sweating. If you develop heat exertion, drink plenty of oral fluids, mixed with water, lemon and sugar. Presence of sweating is good sign.
If a person develops high grade fever, i. E. More than 104 degrees fahrenheit with dry armpits, this is a sign of impending heat stroke, which is a medical emergency. The temperature here may be more than 106 degree fahrenheit. Fever should be brought down rapidly within minutes to save the life.
People, who have been advised to restrict their fluid intake on medical grounds, should discuss their fluid requirement in summer with their doctor.

How to get rid out of cold. Normally it starts with running nose and If I take citrazin, it stops but the sputum develops in the chest and clogging, resulting in cough. If I don't take any medicines, it stops with only running nose after few days. So, it is always good not to take medicine?

Hello- You have tight foreskin. You’re not alone. According to a study, after age 17, 21% of men still have difficulty retracting their foreskin. Use Nirgundi Taila (an herbal oil) or Eladi coconut oil (also known as Eladi Kera Taila). Apply any one of this oil between foreskin and tip of the penis and slowly widen the foreskin as wide as you can. If it is done continuously for a period of 2 – 3 months, the foreskin will gain stretching capacity and can easily be reverted back completely.

I am 18 years old female, college student, having heavy sweating on palms and feet all the time. I eat normal veg food and drink plenty of water. I do not know the cause for this. As I have to write more, I find it very difficult because of slipperiness. Can you please suggest the remedy for this problem. Thank you.

The condition is called hyperhidrosis. Excessive sweating which worsen with exertion and anxiety. Instead of using medicines, the best thing is to adjust your lifestyle to it. Keep a handkerchief handy to wipe your hands. Use cotton or woollen gloves which can absorb the sweat. Use a ball pen with a rubberised grip which prevent slippage even if your hands are wet.

I have no idea about Agra , but in nearby Delhi you can go to NHI (EOK) they do have few reserved beds for low income group people. Get checked thoroughly , you may be lucky to get Normal reports.

Premature Ejaculation - Signs You Are Suffering from it

The most crucial condition for any male is any disorder which hampers his physical intimacy with his partner. These physical discomforts create psychological impact for any male and affect the personal and social life. Premature ejaculation is one such sexual disorder that occurs in male. In this premature ejaculation the men ejaculate the semen involuntarily too earlier or during the orgasm itself.

Causes

There exact cause of premature ejaculation is not known. But few researches suggest causes like physical conditions like nervous conduction problem and increased penile sensitivity. Psychological factors include performance anxiety, early initiation of masturbating in adolescence and trying to complete the masturbation process too early in fear of getting caught by adults, passive aggressiveness and unresolved relationship issues.

Primary symptoms
Primary symptoms include clearly the ejaculation of semen too early during sex. This may cause a feeling of dissatisfaction and disappointment to both the male and female partner. But male have this dissatisfaction at higher rate than the female partner.

Secondary symptoms

  1. Lack of self confidence in sexual act which may further lead to other psychological disturbances for both partners
  2. Problem or difficulty in interpersonal relationship
  3. Depression because of the failure in sexual attempt
  4. Embarrassment mainly to the male partner and this causes anxiety to male partner in the matter of sex
  5. Increased level of stress and some may even show decreased level of performance in their professional work

Treatment

  1. If the problem is caused because of any psychological reasons this can easily be treated with psychological counselling and with the guidance of the sexual health advice.
  2. If the problem is with the newly married couples or with the new sex partner this may get automatically resolved as their relationship gets improved over period of time.
  3. If premature ejaculation is caused because of any physical reasons this can be treated with the anti-depressant drugs. But most doctors don’t prefer drugs as this may cause many adverse effects on sexual life on regular usage.
  4. Some doctors’ advice the use of lidocaine 20 – 30 minutes before having sex as this may increase the ejaculation time.

If you wish to discuss about any specific sexual problem, you can consult a specilized sexologist and ask a free question.
