Baby 5.5 months old. Having uneven fever from past 10 days . After giving Meftal P, Its ok. It has to be given twice in 24 hours. Gums are swollen. Digestion ok.

MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH), Pediatric Gastroenterology
Pediatrician, Delhi
Any fever which has lasted for 10 days should be checked, investigated. Meftal is not the first choice of a anti pyretic. Paracetamol is much safer. Plz get the baby seen by a doctor. You might need blood tests too.

Hi Is tear be necessary in natural delivery. Or it can be avoided by some method.

Hi Is tear be necessary in natural delivery. Or it can be avoided by some method.
The tear ( perineal tears ) can happen if the baby's head is too large for the vagina to stretch . This difficulty usually happens in first pregnancy but not in all cases. The doctors sometimes choose to give an episiotomy if it gets very difficult for the head to come out taking all the precautions.

Conjunctivitis - Role Of Homeopathy In Treating It!

Conjunctivitis - Role Of Homeopathy In Treating It!

Conjunctivitis is a medical condition that is marked by redness in the eyes owing to the inflammation of the conjunctiva, which is the membrane covering the white part of the eye. The condition is further characterized by the discharge of yellowish pus fluid from the corner of the eye. This condition, which is essentially an infection, can occur to people of all age brackets.

Causes and Symptoms:

Conjunctivitis can be caused due to several reasons namely allergies, irritants, bacterial and viral infections, among others. Apart from the redness in the eye, some other apparent symptoms of conjunctivitis are:

  1. Thin and watery discharge in viral conjunctivitis
  2. Thick, mucous like discharge ranging from yellow to green in case of bacterial conjunctivitis
  3. Sticky eyelids
  4. Increased reactivity to light
  5. Blurred or foggy vision
  6. Nasal discharges

It is difficult to distinguish between viral, allergic and bacterial conjunctivitis. Different fields of medicine prescribe treatments according to the cause of the condition. Although subtle differences, such as thick and thin discharges can be observed, in Homeopathy the cause is not that important.

Homeopathic medicines are natural and highly effective. The medications, which are prescribed in Homeopathy can more than manage the discharges, swelling, the sandy sensation and redness in the eyes. Homeopathic medicines are effective when the condition causes the eye to get dry, red, congested and swollen. Bathing the eyes with sterilized salt water is also a popular method of treating the infection. In addition to these, Homeopathic doctors also provide tips to curb the likelihood of further complications. Removing your contact lenses while treatment and cleaning your spectacles on a regular basis, if you wear any, are duly recommended.

My baby is 2 and half month old. Weight is 4.5 kg. At birth his weight was 2.370. He was breastfeed. Should I need to wake him up at night for feed while he was sleeping or let him sleep until he wake up. In day time I feed him every 2-3 hours 70-100 ml. Is it the right amount or I need to increase?

That a good weight gain for your baby. Your breastfeed for every 2-3 hours is adequate. Do not wake your baby at night as sleep is equally important. It is better to feed only when the baby is in fully conscious state. Hence do not disturb the sleep. Most babies eventually cry or wakeup at night time when there stomach is empty and they sleep all day. But if in your case, baby is drinking all day and having sound sleep at niight, then thats not to be worried. You must consume minimum 3 glasses of milk per day and consume food for every 2-3 hrs. Along with your regular meals, include a fist of boiled peanuts or walnuts everyday or roasted gingely seeds in its laddu form or chutney form.

As per your description, your baby has some gaseous distention problem. Because of that your baby did not do stool properly and throw out the milk. Start giving grip water. Apply some oil on stomach and provide some heat through hot water bottle. Do not stop feeding your baby. You have to maintain your diet also, avoid eating heavy food. She will be alright.

If baby is active, taking exclusive breast milk, wt is about 6 kg and motion is not watery, I do not think he requires any medicine other wise in 5 days, he could have become sever dehydrated requiring hospitalization. Keep him on exclusive breast feed. In any case it is advisable to consult pediatrician.

There is no medicine known to increase brest milk production. It is controlled by a complex mechanism of touch & pressure of breast leading to chain of harmones production resulting in breast milk secretion. In short it is demand & supply mechanism, more a child sucks more he gets Exclusive.Breast feed your child at least for first5-6 months. You can express milk if child is unable to take due to any reason to ensure constant supply.
