Hi, I am a 26-year-old male, height 5 feet 10 inches, weight 82 kg. For the past two months I have been experiencing shortness of breath. I used to smoke, but quit about 6 months ago. One month ago I consulted a cardiologist regarding this and had an ECG, Echo, and blood work. Medical history: Intestinal obstruction surgery in 2008 ECG result: 1. Suspected left ventricular hypertrophy. 2. ST- segment elevation (anterior) As the ECG was abnormal the doctor did an echo and the findings were normal. Echo Result: LVID> 26/40 IVS> 15/13 PW> 15/10 EF>66% LA 33 AO 28 Mitral Valve DE 20 EF>0.13mm/sec Doppler Flow AO systolic> 1.30M/sec Mitral E/A 0.78/0.88 M/sec Blood Work: Normal thyroid function and lipid profile. The cardiologist told me everything is normal, but still I am experiencing shortness of breath even at rest so I would like to clear these doubts: 1. Is the thickness of my left ventricle normal? 2. The ECG showed ST-segment elevation. Based on echo results does it mean that I still have an elevated ST-segment. If yes, then should I be concerned about it? 3. These tests were done a month ago, apart from shortness of breath I do not have any symptoms of CHF so I would like to know can CHF occur suddenly? It would be greatly appreciated if you will clear these doubts of mine. Thank you so much.

1.Reach for fluids. As with any illness, staying hydrated is your first line of defense against coughing. If your cough stems from a dry throat, a little hydration might be all you need. Even if your cough is caused by something else, drinking plenty of fluids is never a bad idea 2 Make the fluids warm. For certain coughs, such as ones caused by congestion or sinus drainage, warm liquids can be even more effective than cold or room temperature ones. 3.Try saltwater. Particularly in cases of cold- or flu-related coughs, salt water is your friend. 4.Consider steam — in some cases. Conventional wisdom often dictates that steam from a shower or a humidifier can help combat a cough; however, that’s only the case if your cough is due to dry air. If you’re coughing because of congestion, asthma, dust mites, or mold, among other causes, moist air could actually make your cough worse. 5.Stay upright. Being horizontal can cause mucus to drain into your throat. When sleeping with a cough, for example, you should prop up your head with pillows to prevent sinus drainage from pooling in your throat, causing you to cough. 6.Keep the air clean. Stay away from dirty air, including cigarette smoke.Particulates in the air could either be the source of your cough or worsen one that has other causes. Strong fragrances, such as perfumes, can cause some people to cough, even if they’re not irritating to others 7.Keep the air still. Avoid wind, ceiling fans, heaters, and air conditioners, because moving air can make coughs worse Homoeopathy is wonderful in treating such chronic, repetitive complaints More details like your family history, past history, thermals, thirst, desires aversions, attitudes is required to make a prescription especially in a chronic case such as yours. Consult in private with the above details. More questions may be asked if required. For medication consult online in private

Causes and Symptoms of Uterine Fibroids

Fellowship In Minimal Access Surgery, MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Hyderabad
Causes and Symptoms of Uterine Fibroids

Uterine fibroids are referred to as benign, abnormal growths which tend to develop in the uterine walls of a woman. The size of such growths can range from a few centimeters to even excess of a few inches. As such, they can cause the uterus to increase to the size of a five month pregnancy. Although, the symptoms of fibroids are not always apparent, they often cause heavy bleeding and pain in women. A recent research concluded that around 60 to 75 percent women contract such fibroids by the age of 50, at least once in their life.

Depending on the site of formation, uterine fibroids are distinguished into different types. Intramural fibroids in the lining of the uterus and subserosal fibroids which develop outside the uterus are the most commonly observed fibroids.

What causes Uterine Fibroids?
Although, the exact reason for the formation of fibroids are obscure, medical professionals have determined certain factors that may affect their formation. Some of them are:
1) Hormones: Progesterone and estrogen, produced by the ovaries regenerate the uterine lining during each menstrual cycle and trigger the growth of fibroids.
2) Family history: If you have had a family history of uterine fibroids, then you're likely to develop the condition yourself as well.

3) Pregnancy: The production of progesterone and estrogen increases during pregnancy which increases the likelihood of fibroids.

What are the signs of the condition?
Depending on the location and size of the tumors, symptoms of such fibroids include:
1) Heavy bleeding and blood clots during periods
2) Pain in the pelvis
3) Frequent menstrual cramps
4) Pressure and pain in the lower abdomen
5) Swelling in the abdomen
6) Pain while intercourse

What is the procedure of the treatment?
Ultrasound and pelvic MRI are common diagnostic procedures to check for uterine fibroids. After diagnosis, depending on your age, size of the fibroid and your comprehensive health, the doctor would prescribe you with appropriate medications. Only after medications prove futile, doctors opt for minimally invasive surgeries. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Sir I am suffering from cough since last 2 years I always feel cough in my throat and some times I see blood in my cough but my all test report like chest x ray blood test balgam test endoscopy and microbiology test are ok till now I did not get any solution of this problems some time I feel uncomforted in my chest.

BHMS
Homeopath, Navi Mumbai
The blood in the cough is usually due to the exertion caused by coughing as its possible that your cough might be very dry and hacking by nature. Since all the tests are normal its also possible to think of layrngeal/pharyngeal infective causes for your cough. Physical discomfort also suggests a difficulty in breathing caused due to constriction. You must take the treatment as advised by the doctor for the cough or you can also visit a chest physician but first follow up with the current medications as advised by the doctor.
