Chapped or dry lips are a common problem that can be painful and unattractive. Common symptoms are dryness, redness, cracking, flaking, and tender or sore lips. Some of the main causes are vitamin deficiency, allergic reaction, dehydration, smoking, excessive licking of lips, sun exposure and harsh weather. Castor oil is good treatment for dry and chapped lips. • Simply apply castor oil to your lips several times a day. • You can also make a soothing treatment using one teaspoon of castor oil, one teaspoon of glycerin and a few drops of fresh lemon juice. Mix it well and apply it on your lips before going to bed. In the morning, wash it off with a cotton ball dipped in lukewarm water. Repeat this daily until your lips are healed. • Homoeopathic LIP BALM ( BAKSON LAB) Apply twice daily

Anticholinergic and antispasmodic medications. These medications, such as hyoscyamine (Levsin) and dicyclomine (Bentyl), can help relieve painful bowel spasms. They are sometimes used for people who have bouts of diarrhea, but they can worsen constipation and can lead to other symptoms, such as difficulty urinating.

Hi lybrate-user, For facial hair removal, commonly used methods are waxing, twee-zing, bleaching or using hair removal creams. But since none of these methods suits you, you have following options. You can opt for home based herbal remedies. These are easily available on internet. But if these do not work for you choose from, Buying a facial epilator, electrolysis hair removal or Laser hair removal.

Dear Mayur, i hope ganth means lymph nodes. Lymph nodes on one side armpit and elbow my not be related to smoking cigarettes and weed. There may be other causes. Please consult a doctor and find out where is the infection and treat it. It is good you thought of 3 years of smoking cigarettes and weed now. Please quit both. It will have many health benefits. You are young and it is only 3 years since you are smoking. Comparatively it is easier to stop smoking now than later. All the best.

Apple cider vinegar is an effective remedy for a number of skin problems including brown spots. It will help dry out and fade the spots faster. • Dilute some apple cider vinegar with an equal amount of water. You can also add some honey. Apply this solution on your brown spots and wash it off after a few minutes. Do this once daily for a few days or until you get positive results. You can use straight apple cider vinegar too, but it may sting. • Alternatively, mix one-half teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a few tablespoons of orange juice. Apply it on the affected area and leave it on until it dries completely before washing it off. Repeat once or twice daily for four to five weeks. Apply HOMOEOPATHIC CREAM Twice daily WHITENING CREAM ( BIOVALLEY)Apply in circular fashion in morning nd at night

Ventral Hernia - Laparoscopic Repair

MBBS, MS-General Surgery , FMAS, FIAGES
General Surgeon, Gurgaon
Ventral Hernia - Laparoscopic Repair

What is a ventral hernia?

A ventral hernia is a bulge of tissues through an opening of weakness within your abdominal wall muscles. It can occur at any location on your abdominal wall.

Many are called incisional hernias because they form at the healed site of past surgical incisions. Here abdominal wall layers have become weak or thin, allowing for abdominal cavity contents to push through.

In a strangulated ventral hernia, intestinal tissue gets tightly caught within an opening in your abdominal wall. This tissue can’t be pushed back into your abdominal cavity, and its blood flow is cut off. This type of ventral hernia is an emergency requiring surgery.

Hernias can occur in other places of your body and are named after the location where they occur — for example, a femoral hernia occurs in your upper thigh.

Risk factors

What are the risk factors of a ventral hernia?

Certain people are born with a congenital defect — one existing from birth — that causes their abdominal wall to be abnormally thin. They are at a greater risk for developing a ventral hernia. Other risk factors for a ventral hernia include:

  • pregnancy
  • obesity
  • history of previous hernias
  • history of abdominal surgeries
  • injuries to your bowel area
  • family history of hernias
  • frequently lifting or pushing heavy objects

What are the causes of a ventral hernia?

According to UCSF, incisional hernias may occur in up to 30 percent of those who’ve had an abdominal surgery. Most occur at the site of a surgical scar. The scar tissue weakens or thins, allowing a bulge to form in the abdomen. This bulge is tissue or organs pushing against the abdominal wall.

Symptoms

What are the symptoms of this condition?

Ventral hernias can produce an array of symptoms. Symptoms may take weeks or months to appear.

You may feel absolutely no symptoms. Or you could experience discomfort or severe pain in the area of your hernia, which might grow worse when you try to stand or lift heavy objects. You may see or feel a bulging or growth in the area that feels tender to the touch.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, make sure to consult a doctor right away:

  • mild discomfort in your abdominal area
  • pain in your abdomen
  • outward bulging of skin or tissues in your abdominal area
  • nausea
  • vomiting

Diagnosis

How is a ventral hernia diagnosed?

For a complete diagnosis, a doctor will ask you about your symptoms and perform a physical exam. They may need to order imaging tests to look inside your body for signs of a ventral hernia. These may include:

What treatment options are available?

Ventral hernias require surgical correction. If left untreated, they continue to grow slowly until they are able to cause serious complications.

Untreated hernias can grow into enlarged ventral hernias that become progressively more difficult to fix. Swelling can lead to trapping of hernia contents, a process called incarceration. This in turn can lead to reduced or no blood supply to the tissues involved, which is referred to as strangulation.

Options for surgical treatment include:

  • Mesh placement surgery: A surgeon pushes tissue back into place and then sews in a mesh, which serves as a reinforcing patch, to keep it in place. This is considered safe and reliable, and mesh placement has been shown to reduce risk of hernia recurrence.
  • Laparoscopic repair: A surgeon makes multiple small openings and fixes your hernia using guidance with a small camera inside your body to direct the surgery. A mesh may or may not be used.
  • Open surgery (nonlaparoscopic): A surgeon makes an incision adjacent to your hernia, pushes the tissues back into place, and then sews the area shut. A mesh may or may not be used.

Benefits of laparoscopic removal include the following:

  • much smaller cut site, which lowers chance of infection
  • reduced postoperative pain
  • reduced hospital stay — generally able to leave day of or day after procedure
  • absence of a large scar
  • faster overall recovery time

These are a few concerns about open surgery:

  • longer stay in the hospital after surgery
  • greater amount of pain
  • medium to large scar

Complications

Are there complications?

Massive ventral hernias are those that have a length or width of at least 15 centimeters (cm) or an overall area of 150 cm2, according to the Journal of American Surgery. They pose a serious surgical risk. The giant hernia fills the abdominal cavity, making it difficult to separate from surrounding organs. As the hernia grows in size, the risk of a reoccurrence also becomes higher.

Other complications of untreated hernias include:

  • Incarceration: Your intestine becomes trapped in a weak abdomen wall where it can’t be pushed back inside of your abdominal cavity. This may cause blockage to your intestine or cut off its blood supply.
  • Strangulation: This occurs when blood flow to your intestine is blocked. Part of your intestine may die or begin to decay. Immediate surgery is necessary to restore blood flow and save the intestine.

What is the outlook for a ventral hernia?

In the early stages of a hernia, you may be able to “fix” your own hernia. Some people may feel the bulge in their abdomen and push the organs back inside. This is called reducing the hernia. Reducing often works temporarily until you undergo surgery.

The outlook is generally very good after a surgery with no complications. You may need to rest for a few weeks before resuming daily activities, avoiding any heavy lifting or straining to the abdominal area.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

Egg white works well in order to lighten the pimple marks and the pimple scars. Take a fresh egg and break the egg, separate the egg white from the egg yolk. Apply this egg white on the pimple marks. After 10-15 minutes, wash with the cold water. Baking Soda Take some baking soda. Mix some water with the baking soda and apply this mixture on the pimple marks. Baking soda serves as an agent that carries out micro dermabrasion on the skin and helps to clear the pimple marks on the face and body. Tomatoes Tomatoes are rich in Vitamin A, which helps nourish the dead skin while rejuvenating it. Vitamin A helps by healing the skin and by helping facilitate quick growth of the skin while removing the scars. Using tomatoes to help heal the scars on the skin is not a lengthy process, but it is rather simple. Just take a tomato, slice it and make it into a pulp. Apply the pulp on the face and leave it on for twenty minutes’ time. Then, wash it off with some warm water. You could also mix cucumbers with it. Make a paste out of all of cucumbers and tomatoes and apply as a face mask. Leave it on for half an hour and wash it with some cool water. Follow this method two days at a time every week and observe the results.

Homoeopathic cream ANTIMARKS CREAM ( BIOVALLEY) Apply twice daily in circular fashion Lemon Juice A quick and easy solution is lemon juice. Lemons have vitamin C that can lighten dark spots on your face. It’s easy to apply. 1. Put some fresh lemon juice on a cotton ball and rub it directly on the affected skin area. 2. Allow it to dry and then wash it off with plain water. 3. Continue applying this dark spot removal home remedy for at least two weeks to get the desired result. If you have delicate or sensitive skin, you can dilute the lemon juice with plain water, rosewater, or honey. You can also use lime juice to get rid of black spots, applying it in the same manner as described above. 2. Buttermilk Buttermilk is also beneficial in getting rid of dark spots. Like lemon juice, it also helps fade blemishes and black spots but without causing burning sensation. 1. Take four teaspoons of buttermilk. 2. Add two teaspoons of fresh tomato juice. 3. Mix the two ingredients (both have excellent bleaching properties) and then apply. 4. Wash it off after 15 minutes. The lactic acid in milk too, will gradually reduce skin pigmentation, and brighten and tone your overall skin complexion. So, if you do not have buttermilk, simply apply soak a cotton ball in milk and dab it directly on your spots. Leave it on for about 10 minutes and then wash it off Put milk on a cotton ball and dab it directly on your spots. Repeat this procedure twice daily for four to five weeks. You can also prepare a solution by mixing milk and honey and apply the solution to your dark spots, leaving it on for 10 minutes.

Advantages of Skinboosters

Cosmetologist
Dermatologist, Delhi
Advantages of Skinboosters

Traditionally defined as "innovative treatments dedicated for skin revitalization"; skinboosters are procured from Hyaluronic acid as by-products. Also referred to as Hyaluronic Acid Injection, they are primarily used for the sole purpose of maintaining adequate levels of skin hydration, besides providing the skin with elasticity, firmness and vitality, while giving it a bright and radiant look. Moreover, they can improve the overall skin structure and also provide long lasting moisture. Skinbooster treatments have been widely regarded as substitutes to Hyaluronic acid Mesotherapy. Each treatment usually lasts for about thirty minutes and involves a tight procedure using micro injections, which help in the gradual breaking down of Hyaluronic acid stabilizing bonds. The treatments are most commonly administered under topical anaesthesia, along with the use of Emla cream.

What are its advantages?
The advantages of using skinboosters are varied and numerous. Unlike other anti-wrinkle treatments, skinbooster treatments gradually improve skin quality. Although the effects are not immediate, they are, however, long lasting and more reliable than others. As a matter of fact, their efficacy and safety as cosmetic products is perhaps the main reason why people prefer skinboosters over other treatments.

What effect does the treatment have on your skin?
After a minimum of three treatments, you will find that your skin texture and composition has improved greatly. Furthermore, your skin will become more tight, rigid, firm, elastic and radiant. Skinbooster treatments are also generally non-invasive and require the least amount of time for recovery, in contrast to other treatments. Their applicability is incredible as they go along even with other treatments like Botulinum toxin treatments. They are flexible enough to help revitalize the skin in any area of the body, from the sensitive areas around the eyes and mouth to the delicate skin of the cheeks and neck. Skinbooster treatments, however, are entirely different than dermal fillers as they are not involved in the enhancement of facial features like shape and proportion.
