When brushing your teeth, position the bristles at an angle of 45 degrees near the gum line. Both the gum line and the tooth surface should be in contact with the bristles. Brush the outer surfaces of the teeth using a back-and-forth, up-and-down motion, making sure to be done gently in order to avoid bleeding. To clean the inside surfaces of the teeth and gums, place the bristles at a 45-degree angle again and repeat the back-and-forth, up-and-down motion. Lastly, brush the surfaces of your tongue and the roof of your mouth to remove bacteria, which might cause bad breath.

I am 21 year old, I recently had severe tooth ache and dentist after x ray said, its bcz 1 of the wisdom teeth which is half grown outside gums and unable to come out completely as there's no space for it. He also said that I need to get all 4 teeth removed some day as there's no space and will cause much pain further. I was said its not immediately necessary to remove tooth but I can go for it when the pain gets worse. But surprisingly after few days the tooth ache has completely gone by itself and I have no other dental problem .what does this mean? Did my tooth grow normal? Do I need to take an x ray to confirm it inspite of no pain at all.

Hello Dr. lybrate-user. From the description of your problem, you could have a common problem associated with wisdom tooth eruption. When there isn't space in your jaw for the tooth to come out it remains locked in its position without erupting. As this area is not very easy to clean the space between the gum and the locked tooth can become infected and cause pain which can become severe if not treated in a timely manner. As your pain has subsided by itself there are chances that the obstruction was caused by gum and not bone. But it could return if it was due to lack of space in your jaw that is if its the bone that is in the way of your growing tooth. Wisdom teeth locked in the bone is more common. And just to be sure you can get the radiograph assessed by your doctor and have him clarify your doubts so that you can make a well informed decision about your treatment needs. It will be in your best interest to not leave it to chance. Waiting and watching will not be a good strategy as you have already have had symptoms before and you do not want more harm done till the next time the symptoms arise if they do. See the dentist again and stay apprised of your dental condition. Take care.

I have done root canal treatment from nearby my home. But after root canal treatment there is pain.

I have done root canal treatment from nearby my home. But after root canal treatment there is pain.
Post root canal treatment it is normal to feel some tenderness or pain. It is often believed that once root canal treatment has been done, they will no longer feel pain in the treated tooth. This, however, is incorrect. The tooth will no longer be sensitive to hot or cold food or beverages. But for a few days after treatment, the area around the tooth can be sensitive. If this happens a medicine to reduce inflammation will help.

Hi I would suggest that just get the root canal done as of now So that your pain will stop forever. And will cost less And after a month or two Get the cap done Remember Don't forget the cap As the tooth can break without a cap In this way your expenses will get divided And also a proper treatment done Or another option is to get it done at government hospital or trust where charges would be minimum.

Hello Lybrate User, Bad breath is also known as Halitosis, foul smelling odor that seems to come from the mouth cavity. Wisdom tooth erupts anytime after 21 years of age. Please take an Xray of the tooth to determine exact position of wisdom tooth. *Sometimes when erupting there can be food accumulation between tooth and gums giving rise to pain. *if the position of tooth is also crooked then pain can arise. Advise extraction please visit dentist for treatment.

The personal hygiene habits followed by you are good. Keep it up! Maybe the food particles that are stuck in between your teeth have become hard and thus cannot be removed easily just with a brush. So, cleaning and polishing by dental professional will help you. Both your problems will be solved once you do cleaning. Also consider drinking at least 12-15 glasses of water a day.

Hi, From a very long time, my left side of the tongue is getting touched by 3rd molar teeth and my tongue is hurting, Have shown to doctors, some say it is nothing to do with teeth, have applied kenacort to tongue, have got teeth little bit grinded also, there is a slight relief from that but still it is rubbing against the teeth. What do I do? Please suggest.

Hi,

Permanent solution to your problem is getting the third molar extracted from the concerned side. As you have mentioned you got some relief after grinding the tooth. Here is another permanent solution if you do not want tooth removal, mostly the 3rd molar is out of occlusion so it will not trouble you. Visit a dentist ask him/her to trim the molar tooth to maximum and an ultra thin cap fabrication for the same. Problem will be resolved. Thank you.
