Hi good morning my son is 5 years old many time he is suffering from blood in nose. Please give some suggestion. From Chirag 9510222202.

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS
ENT Specialist, Bangalore
Children do get blood in the nose more often than adults. There is nothing to worry about. Get blood tested for bleeding time & clotting time. When he has blood in the nose just pinch the nose for about 5 minutes. The bleeding should stop.

What Happens To Your Body While You Are Under Anesthesia?

MBBS
General Surgeon, Guwahati
What Happens To Your Body While You Are Under Anesthesia?

Adverse respiratory events (AREs) are leading causes of post-operative morbidity and mortality. Anesthesia is the use of medicine to prevent or reduce the feeling of pain or sensation during surgery or other painful procedures (such as getting stitches). Giving as an injection or through inhaled gases or vapours, different types of anesthesia affect the nervous system in various ways by blocking nerve impulses and, therefore, pain.

Anesthesia can help control your breathing, blood pressure, blood flow, and heart rate. It may be used to:

  1. Relax you,
  2. Block pain,
  3. Make you sleepy or forgetful,
  4. Make you unconscious for your surgery.

Adverse Respiratory Events (ARE)
Adverse outcomes of such events are fatal and lead to Death & Brain Damage. Three mechanisms of injury are reported to account for highest adverse respiratory events:
Inadequate Ventilation: Insufficient Gas Exchange can produce the adverse outcome. Esophageal Intubation: Incubation between the two sides of the esophagus inadvertently.
Difficult tracheal intubation: Tracheal Intubation is the placement of a flexible plastic tube into the trachea (windpipe) to maintain an open airway. It is performed facilitate ventilation of lungs in severely ill, anesthetized patients.

Other’s are as listed below:

  • Airway Obstruction
  • Inadequate inspired oxygen delivery
  • Aspiration
  • Endobronchial Intubation
  • Premature Extubation

Residual neuromuscular blockade is an important postoperative complication associated to the use of neuromuscular blocking drugs and is commonly observed in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) after non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBAs) are administered intra-operatively. Incomplete neuromuscular recovery can be minimized with acceleromyography monitoring. The risk of adverse respiratory events during early recovery from anesthesia can be reduced by intra-operative acceleromyography use.

Reintubation is a serious adverse respiratory event and the consequences include increased cardiac and respiratory complications, prolonged length of stay at the PACU, intensive care unit (ICU) and hospital, prolonged mechanical ventilator support, higher costs, and increased mortality. Overweight and obesity have also been identified as risk factors for postoperative respiratory complications. Most adverse respiratory events are considered preventable with improved monitoring such as:

  • Pulse Oximetry
  • Capnometry
  • Combination of Both

Closed observation of the clinical factors and appropriate monitoring by well trained people are factors necessary to prevent adverse outcome.

Sir I m 28 years old. I want to loose my weight. My height 181cm and weight 88 kg. please guide me.
First of all you need a medical check up if there is disease like hypothyroidism or any other health problem. And do regular exercise like yoga, push up, sit up, squat. Lying butt bridge, swimming, skipping. Do not use sugar, sweetened juice, cola beverages, soft drinks as these turns into fat. Instead you take whole fruits, watery vegetables. These will help you to reduce fat. Use whole wheat, whole grain, brown rice, brown bread, oats. Eat small amount of food. Do not skip meals. Use more protein foods like fish. Egg white, lean meat, peanut butter, cottage cheese, soy milk, soybean, soy products, tofu, mushroom. Take nuts and seeds. Use dates, yogurt. Use healthy fat. Use coconut oil in cooking for weight loss. Drink lots of water specially before meals. Use lukewarm water after meals. Use lukewarm water with lemon juice on an empty stomach in the morning. Take quality sleep.

My age is 23 years & I am suffering from hairfall. Please suggest me some remedy.
For real obstinate cases of dandruff where regular anti-dandruff shampoos don’t work, include zinc and essential fatty acids which guard against dandruff and a dry scalp. Foods such as whole wheat, oats, pumpkin seeds, peanuts, cashews, soybean and vegetable oils are good sources of zinc and essential fatty acids."

Hi lybrate-user. The medicine you took. None of them cure fever. They just temporarily makes you feel better. I am assuming them that you took it without consulting a doctor. Which you don't realise is very dangerous. As I have seen many patients ending up damaging their organs permanently. And suffering severly. So never self medicate. Many patients directly take it from the medical store person. But they are also not qualified to prescribe. If it is malaria or typhoid then delaying the proper treatment can cause severe complications. So my advise is to never avoid a doctor consultation. For now you should take CBC MP blood test. And then consult with proper detailed reports. It is for your better health.

How to increase my weight and able to developed my personality for physical strength.

M.Sc. in Foods & Nutrition, PhD in Foods & Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Udaipur
How to increase my weight and able to developed my personality for physical strength.
Here is some important tips to increase your weight in a healthy way. Do some exercise before 30 min of your meal for a good appetite. Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, & unhealthy drinks. Don't drink water before meals. This can fill your stomach and make it harder to get in enough calories. Eat more often. Eat 5 to 6 meals a day, Weight train at least 3 times a week, you have to consume 300-500 more calories than your normal intake every day. You can do this by eating foods rich in protein like cheese, meat, eggs, Drink milk. Try and eat fast (but don’t choke on it) People who are trying to lose weight are advised exactly the opposite but for the same reason. Your body takes some time to give signals of satiety which is why eating fast can help you eat more. For more details of weight gain you can contact us through Lybrate.
