What Is Angina?

MBBS, PG Diploma in Clinical Cardiology
Cardiologist, Gurgaon
What Is Angina?

It is true that most people are aware of the fact that ‘angina’ is a term which has something or the other to do with the heart. That being said, very few would be able to answer a question regarding what exactly it is, in a satisfactory manner. So would it not make sense to know more about it and become one of the few?

The term is derived from the ancient language of Latin and refers to a tightness that is felt or a squeezing of the chest. This happens when there is not enough oxygen-rich blood which is reaching the area of the heart muscle. While many people think that angina is a disease, it is actually not true to think that it is! As a matter of fact, it is a symptom of coronary artery disease. It is this disease which is the most common disease which affects the heart.

But why exactly does a person experience angina? Well, the lack of blood which is rich in oxygen occurs when it so happens that the coronary arteries become narrower than they normally should be. This generally happens due to the build-up of plaque. The condition in which this happens is known as atherosclerosis.

When it comes to the sort of people who are at a higher risk of developing angina, it can be said that those who smoke tobacco really do increase their risk, as do those who are overweight or obese and have other lifestyle diseases such as diabetes.

In order to avoid angina, the most important thing a person can possibly control is his or her lifestyle. In fact, a lot of the risk factors related to angina are attributable to the lifestyle a person chooses to lead. Cholesterol levels can be controlled if a person puts enough attention and effort in. Also, avoiding a lifestyle that is sedentary by exercise can not only help with cutting the risk of angina but also the risks of other conditions such as high blood pressure. It is ironic that high blood pressure is one of the potential signals of angina!

It is to be noted that while most people just call angina as it is, there are various types-

  1. Stable angina is when the heart is working harder than usual and medicine helps improve this.

  2. Unstable angina occurs even at rest and is unpredictable. It may also be a signal of a coming heart attack.

  3. Variant and microvascular angina is relievable by medicine and is generally rare. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Cardiologist.

Homeopathy for Stress and Anxiety

Diploma in homeopathy, B. Sc
Homeopath, Gurgaon
Homeopathy for Stress and Anxiety

The words 'stress and 'anxiety' are often used interchangeably, but bear different meanings in medical terms. Stress is caused by particular situations or events in one's life that makes one feel frustrated, angry, worried or even anxious. The stress response is different for each individual such that the same event can often elicit disparate responses. For example:

Public speaking excites some but terrifies others;

  1. Pressure from deadlines increases productivity in some but renders others paralyzed;

  2. Difficult circumstances in family or friend settings find some eager to take control and others stricken with panic;

  3. Social situations requiring people to voice their opinions are easy and comfortable for some but stressful for others;

  4. Changes in the work environment are welcomed by some but not by others.

Anxiety, on the other hand, is a general feeling of apprehension or fear, the source of which is not clearly defined. Anxiety disorders are a group of psychiatric conditions that cause excessive anxiety. They include:

  1. Generalized Anxiety: Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a pattern of frequent, constant worry and anxiety over many different activities and events);

  2. Specific Phobia: a phobia is a persistent and irrational fear of a particular type of object, animal, activity, or situation that poses little to no actual danger;

  3. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), or behaviours that make them feel driven to do something (compulsions). Often the person carries out the behaviours to get rid of the obsessive thoughts, but this only provides temporary relief (not performing the obsessive rituals can cause great anxiety);

  4. Social Phobia: is a persistent and irrational fear of situations that may involve scrutiny or judgment by others, such as parties and other social events.

Those suffering from anxiety disorders display such symptoms on a regular basis and thus have difficulty with daily activities and relationships. These symptoms present themselves sporadically and often without warning.

In many cases, anxiety is developed by overdue stress that is no longer linked to a specific cause.

Homeopathic Treatment for Stress and Anxiety:

Homeopaths for the last two centuries have been constantly pushing this theory of mind and physical body being deeply interconnected and about fixing the problem at a mental level that can often help the other. In homeopathy, mental symptoms of the patient are given the utmost importance. Constitutional treatment in homeopathy combines the understanding of both the psycho and the physiological profile of the patient, with the psychological profile being given more importance.

Homeopathic Medicines for Stress:

A number of homeopathic medicines are effective in treating disorders where one who has learnt the wrong way of handling or responding to stress.

  1. Homeopathic remedies for stress - for the Classic - Type A Personality: Medicines such as Argentum Nitricum and Tarentula are very effective in controlling the accelerated behaviour of Type A people. Anxiety is very marked in such patients . Anxiety disorder is very effectively treated with homeopathy

  2. Homeopathic remedies for stress: When Anger is the Key symptom: Stress manifests through anger in some patients .Nux Vomica and Staphysgaria are meant for the easily angered and impatient ones.

  3. Homeopathic Medicines for stress: When grief is the cause: Ignatia and Natrum Mur where long-standing grief is a reason for stress response.

Homeopathic remedies for stress: for those who are 'Overworked': Kali phos is for a good individual who over-stretches himself physically and mentally. It is great homeopathic remedy for those have 'burnt out' their minds for over work.

I having cervical spondylitis pain in upper arm shoulders five bones of neck vertebra largened

Diploma in Acupuncture, Pranic Healing, MD - Acupuncture
Acupuncturist, Bangalore
Neck massage will give good results. Use little good oil or plain water and massage from either side on the mid shoulder blade. Use your thumbs and move it slowly upwards on the back of neck up to the lower level of ear. Repeat 5 to 10 times. Do not do from top to down. Finally move your neck up and down, sideways left and right. Results are excellent. Pl ask somebody to massage your spinal column from neck down upto sacral bone using both hands ie both thumbs on one side other fingers on other side do only from neck and not from sacral to the neck. Yo can also use a wooden roller purchased from a acupressure items shop.

Hello lybrate-user, Life is beautiful but it depends upon our perception. I think you need to keep yourself occupied in different things .Plan your day .Make and write a workable schedule and paste the paper in your room .Try to stick to it. Have time for work, include complete entertainment time, physical exercise to sweat (20 min) atleast .(as it releases happy hormone) and time to talk to God. Be in the company of lively people and spread happiness. I am sure all this will certainly make a difference. All the best.

Dear doctor my daughter is suffering fever from 43 data each and every tests done. But each and every test the report...
If all tests are normal , it can be cyclical fever . Yu have not said the age of child and can you send the reports to me ? The periodic fever syndromes (also known as autoinflammatory diseases or autoinflammatory syndromes) are a set of disorders characterized by recurrent episodes of systemic and organ-specific inflammation. Unlike autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus, in which the disease is caused by abnormalities of the adaptive immune system, patients with autoinflammatory diseases do not produce autoantibodies or antigen-specific T or B cells. Instead, the autoinflammatory diseases are characterized by errors in the innate immune system. If you can give more details as I asked I could help you better
