Hi lybrate-user, can you please tell me what is your height? if you want to gain healthy weight we need to work on your lean muscle mass. Can you please tell me what is your daily food routine from morning to evening? if you are a non vegeterian you can start your day with 3 slices of multigrain bread with 2-3 egg white omlette. You can also have a glass of whey protein with milk (you can opt for optimum nutrition whey protein). In lunch you can have normal dal, rice/ roti, mushroom sabzi or mix veg sabzi and curd. In the evening at around 5: 00 pm you can have 1-2 besan cheela or moong dal cheela witha cup of tea or coffee. At night you can have grilled chicken with roti or soya granules or nuggets with roti. You can start with the above mentioned simple routine initially. If needed any further help please do write to me.

It is possible you are suffering from social anxiety. Try practicing in the mirror before you are in a social situation. Also use relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, progressive muscular relaxation and yoga. If the anxiety is overwhelming and debilitating, consult a psychiatrist. With medication and counseling you will see relief in your symptoms.

Bleeding in Early Pregnancy: Diagnosing Miscarriage

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS, DGO
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Bleeding in Early Pregnancy: Diagnosing Miscarriage

Miscarriage is termed as the loss of the fetus in or before 20th week of pregnancy. Medically, miscarriage is known as spontaneous abortion, though the word spontaneous is more of a keyword as it is not an abortion.

Symptoms of Miscarriage
Miscarriage happens due to weakness, back pain, fever, abdominal pain along with severe cramps and bleeding, which starts from slow to heavy.

Cause of Miscarriage
Common cause of miscarriage is when the fetus is known to have fatal genetic problems and these are not related with the mother. The other causes are infection, medical problems like thyroid and diabetes, immune system rejection, hormonal imbalance, abnormalities of the uterus, and physical problems of the mother. If a woman is over 35 years of age, has thyroid and diabetes and had an miscarriage earlier then that woman is at a high risk of getting a miscarriage.

Sometimes a miscarriage might take place due to the cervical insufficiency. This is due to the weak cervix, also known as the incompetent cervix, which is unable to hold the pregnancy. A miscarriage in this condition usually occurs in the second trimester. Though there are a very few symptoms in this, but there might be a feeling of sudden pressure that the water is going to break and tissues from the placenta and fetus are released without any pain. This can however, be treated by a stitch in the cervix at 12 weeks. This stitch helps to hold the cervix until the full term is completed. If it is first pregnancy and cervical insufficiency is diagnosed, then also a stitch can be applied, thus resulting in full term and avoiding miscarriage.

Diagnosis of Miscarriage:

  • The doctor does a pelvic test, an ultrasound and blood tests to confirm a miscarriage
  • Blood tests are done to analyze the pregnancy hormone hCG. This is monitored regularly if miscarriage is suspected
  • Genetic tests, blood tests and medication are important in women who have a history of prior miscarriages
  • Pelvic ultrasound and hysterosalpingography are tests, which are done when there are repeated miscarriages
  • Test like hysteroscopy is also done. In this the doctor observes the inside of the uterus with a device, which is thin telescope like device. This is inserted in the vagina and cervix.
  • If the cervix is dilated, then the woman might be diagnosed with an incompetent cervix and this can be corrected by cerclage, a procedure done to close the cervix.
  • If the blood type of the pregnant woman is Rh negative, she is prescribed a blood product called Rh immune globulin (Rhogam). This prevents from forming, antibodies which could turn to be harmful for the baby.

Masturabtion willnot cause Aids and it is an infection from having sex with infected person and yu need not worry about levng amsturabtin and it is safe to do. People wrongly believe that masturbation is a bad habit, or sin and it causes loss of energy and many side effects can occur. All these are myths and it is a safe act to give vent to sexual drive in men who cannot do sex. People fear if they have adverse effect on marriage or that their energy is wasted and such many funny misbeliefs are going around and all are not true. One can do as many times as he feels and health or energy is not affected or there will be no effect on marriage Masturbation is the self-stimulation of the genitals to achieve sexual arousal and pleasure, usually to the point of orgasm (sexual climax). It is commonly done by touching, stroking, or massaging the penis or clitoris until an orgasm is achieved. Some women also use stimulation of the vagina to masturbate or use "sex toys," such as a vibrator. Just about everybody. Masturbation is a very common behaviour, even among people who have sexual relations with a partner. In one national study, 95% of males and 89% of females reported that they have masturbated. Masturbation is the first sexual act experienced by most males and females. In young children, masturbation is a normal part of the growing child's exploration of his or her body. Most people continue to masturbate in adulthood, and many do so throughout their lives. In addition to feeling good, masturbation is a good way of relieving the sexual tension that can build up over time, especially for people without partners or whose partners are not willing or available for sex. Masturbation also is a safe sexual alternative for people who wish to avoid pregnancy and the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases. It also is necessary when a man must give a semen sample for fertility testing or for sperm donation. When sexual dysfunction is present in an adult, masturbation may be prescribed by a sex therapist to allow a person to experience an orgasm (often in women) or to delay its arrival (often in men). While it once was regarded as a perversion and a sign of a mental problem, masturbation now is regarded as a normal, healthy sexual activity that is pleasant, fulfilling, acceptable and safe. It is a good way to experience sexual pleasure and can be done throughout life. Masturbation is only considered a problem when it inhibits sexual activity with a partner, is done in public, or causes significant distress to the person. It may cause distress if it is done compulsively and/or interferes with daily life and activities.

I have pimples kn my face and acne too. Please suggest some measures to prevent and cure it. My skin is oily.

BAMS

I have pimples kn my face and acne too. Please suggest some measures to prevent and cure it. My skin is oily.
These are the best methods to cure pimples fast -: • To control the sebum (oily) secretion you should maintain your hormonal level. Because imbalance in hormone level causes excessive sebum (oil) production and causes pimples. So do not take stress and do exercise daily such as running, jogging and long breathing exercises. • Use oil free face wash and drink 7 -8 glass of water daily. • Do not touch your pimple because your finger transfer bacteria to it and make it worse. If you touch it then clean your face with water. Touch your face very less. • you can use a face pack of fuller's earth (multani mitti) with rose water one time in a day for seven days. It removes toxins from skin and remove pimples.,• • Give Steam your face to open the pores, which in turn clear the skin. Steam your face for 3-5 minutes daily. • You can take 2 teaspoon of SAAFI SYRUP daily for 1 month for clear face. • Take 20 gm powder of Black pepper and 50 gm of Amla powder. Mix it and take 1/2 tea spoon of this mixed powder daily with luke warm water for 15 days for pimple free skin. • Take Vitamin-A rich diet & you can take Vitamin-A capsule of 25, 000 I. you. Only under the supervision of a doctor. • use a mild moisturiser for your skin only in winters..

How to Lose Weight in the Right Way

In our everyday eat-and-run, huge-portion-sized culture, maintaining a healthy weight can be a challenge, and losing weight can be a massive challenge. While there is no easy fix to weight loss, there are plenty of steps that you can take to develop a healthy relationship with food, curb emotional triggers to overeating, and achieve long-lasting safe weight-loss. Here are a few safe options to lose weight the right way.

Cut out high-calorie condiments, sugars and refined carbs:

In spite of aiming to cut down on carbs, most of us consume way more sugar and refined carbohydrates than we actually plan to. Eliminating candy and desserts from our diet is not the only solution, though. Sugar is hidden in foods as diverse as bread, canned soups, pasta sauces, margarines and many foods labelled low fat. All this hidden sugar quantifies to nothing but a lot of empty calories.

Plump for low sugar products and use fresh ingredients instead of canned goods whenever possible. By slowly reducing sugar in your diet, you will give your taste buds time to adjust to the change and will be able to wean yourself off the craving for sweets.

According to dietician in bandra, in order to avoid insalubrious spikes in blood sugar, avoid refined carbs like white bread, white rice or pasta, and go for their whole-grain counterparts instead.

Hoof it up:
Exercise is the key to weight loss. Recent studies show that people who manage to exercise at least one fifty minutes per week are more successful with weight loss. People who do not have time to exercise can make a few small lifestyle changes, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator or parking the car a bit farther from the destination, so that they will have to walk.

Drink it down:
Water can be considered as liquid gold when it comes to weight loss. Water powers your workouts, boosts your energy and increases your metabolism. It also helps you heed your hunger cues and keeps you from drinking other things. Drinking more water may decrease calorie intake and reduce the risk of long-term weight gain and obesity. Drinking water before meals will reduce appetite and intake, thus leading to weight loss.

Try the veggie-loaded plate method:
Many best nutritionist recommend using your plate to guide your food selection and portion sizes. You can fill one half of your plate with vegetables and the other half can be split between protein and starchy carbohydrates. And if you decide to go for a second serving, it better be all vegetables. Studies have shown that people who consume five or more servings of fruits and vegetables per day are more successful with weight loss.

Work flax seeds into your routine:
One of the easiest and safest things according to best dietitian in kemps corner, warden road, nepeansea road, you can do to speed up your weight loss is to incorporate at least two tablespoons of flax seeds into your daily food regime. You can add it to your morning oatmeal, blend it with your smoothie or sprinkle it over your soup or salad. Flax seeds are the epitome of nutritional benefits and a great source of soluble fiber. They help in lowering cholesterol levels and make you feel fuller for a longer time.

Hi, Use Bakson's Face wash, Schwabe's Aloe vera cream regularly. Don't let the area get any kind of friction like rubbing (rubbing even the cream or oil), scratching, pinching, etc. Any kind of friction makes the condition worse! Increase the intake of Vitamin A (green veggies, reddish or yellow veggies or fruits like carrot, papaya, water melon, egg yolks, etc.), vitamin C (citrus fruits like oranges, kinus, mausambi, lemon, etc. and amla, green veggies, tomatoes, green peas), vitmain E (nuts sp. walnut, almonds, flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, fish) and protein (pulses, legumes, sprouts, non-veg, eggs, etc.). Medication: Take Natrum Mur. 6x/ thrice daily for 1 month. Revert me back there after.

How to gain weight I am now 18 but my weight is only 48 kilograms.
Please suggest me some advise.
To gain weight you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects.

Hi. It's normal to lose up to 100 hair per day, and in most people, those hairs grow back. But many men -- and some women -- lose hair as they grow older. You can also lose your hair if you have certain diseases, such as thyroid problems, diabetes, or lupus. If you take certain medicines or have chemotherapy for cancer, you may also lose your hair. Other causes are stress, a low protein diet, a family history, use of bore water, or nutritional deficiencies. Need to rule out any causative factor or underlying medical condition. Management: Take diet rich in protein like non-veg, eggs (it's loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, vitamin b12, iron, zinc and omega 6 fatty acids in large amounts and biotin), different pulses & legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. Walnuts and almonds); iron-rich food like green vegetables, dates, carrots, prunes, green peas; also oats, shrimp, take flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take low-fat dairy products (they also contain whey and casein, two high-quality protein sources) take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of hard water to wash the head rather use boiled water for head wash. Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! cover your head with scarf or cap while stepping outside. Use rose wood/ any wooden hair comb to brush your hair. Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you fit and young! Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200 & Alfalfa tonic twice a day for 1 month and revert. Use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica hair conditioner as well after every head wash.

What I am a 35 years old i am suffering with dengue fever what should I eat at this time?
take liquid diet, juice, green veg., dalia, plenty of water.geloy juice, tulci leaf.Prevention from dengue:-----As there are no injections or vaccines available to cure dengue, prevention by following certain basic steps will be the most effective way to fight against the dreadful disease. Some of the ways to prevent the onset of dengue are stated as follows: It is better to avoid stagnant water in flowerpots, buckets, barrels etc., in and around the house, as these are the favorite places for mosquitoes to lay eggs. Water should be stored in closed containers Bleaching powder may be used in water sources that are not meant for drinking, as it prevents the development of mosquito eggs The female mosquito feeds on blood as it requires the blood protein to produce eggs, hence it is better to use mosquito repellents, even when indoors It is advised to reside in a well screened or air conditioned house. If not, mosquito nets may be attached to the windows Usage of long-sleeved shirts, boots, socks and long pants is advised when outdoors It is healthier to avoid being outdoors during dawn, dusk or early evenings when mosquitoes tend to roam around in the open Mosquitoes are attracted to dark colored clothing hence it is better to wear bright and light colored clothes Avoid strong perfumes, as mosquitoes are drawn towards strong body odours.
