Hello , thyroid usually doesn't cause weight gain more than 6-7 kg, so if weight gain more than that, it is not due to thyroid. Send. Me your last thyroid function test reports and medicines you r taking.

I further suggest eat 200 gms of sprouted and steamed moong or matar with curd in breakfast. You can also eat some soya badi or tofu in lunch. These will provide you very good natural proteins.

Advancing age puts many seniors at risk for a number of oral health problems, such as:


    Darkened teeth. Caused, to some extent, by changes in dentin -- the bone-like tissue that underlies the tooth enamel -- and by a lifetime of consuming stain-causing foods beverages.
    Dry mouth. It is caused by reduced saliva flow, which can be a result of cancer treatments as well as certain diseases medication side effects. Many medicines can cause dry mouth.
    Diminished sense of taste. While advancing age impairs the sense of taste, diseases, medications,  dentures can also contribute to this sensory loss.
    Root decay. This is caused by exposure of the tooth root to decay-causing acids.
    Gum disease. Caused by plaque made worse by food left in teeth, use of tobacco products, poor-fitting bridges and dentures, poor diets, and certain diseases, such as anemia, cancer, and diabetes, this is often a problem for older adults.
    Tooth loss. Gum disease is a leading cause of tooth loss.
    Uneven jawbone. This is caused by tooth then not replacing missing teeth. This allows the rest of the teeth to drift and shift into open spaces
    Denture-induced stomatitis. Ill-fitting dentures, poor dental hygiene, or a buildup of the fungus candida cause this condition, which is inflammation of the tissue underlying a denture.
    Thrush. Diseases or drugs that affect the immune system can trigger the overgrowth of the fungus candida in mouth


Age in and of itself is not a dominant or sole factor in determining oral health. However, certain medical conditions, such as arthritis in the hands and fingers, may make brushing or flossing teeth difficult to impossible to perform. Drugs can also affect oral health and may make a change in your dental treatment necessary.

Oral hygiene tips for seniors:

Daily brushing flossing of natural teeth is essential to keeping them in good oral health. Plaque can build up quickly on the teeth of seniors, especially if oral hygiene is neglected, & lead to tooth decay and gum disease.

    Brush at least twice a day with a fluoride-containing toothpaste
    Floss at least once a day

Few diet tips for weight gain - not to eat fried food items and can eat all green vegetables, moong, chana, dal, rice etc and to apply ghee over chappati and don't apply oil over chappati and to drink milk mixed with turmeric powder twice a day and if possible eat eggs on alternate days and if possible in breakfast eat atleast one bajra ka rotla and eat seasonal fruit.

Sir/Mam. Now a days I am not able to eat my food properly. As I finish my Food then within 5 minutes I have forced to go to washroom .its 3 times at least a day since 5 -6 weeks I am not comfortable If I eat then I feel I have to go washroom otherwise it will be a problem Sir please help me.

Dear Lybrate user, it might be amoebiasis. It's a infection of bowel which leads to go 3 to 4 times toilet. Don't eat bakery food, Chinese food, nonveg, hotel food for 1 week. Drink lukewarm water. Take kutajarishta15 ml thrice day with water. This will solve your problem.

The best tips to lightens and remove the mark. 1. Take fuller, s earth (multani mitti) and sandalwood powder (chandan powder) mixed in same quantity mixed in water and apply on the mark in night and wash it after 1 hour. It will slowly removes the dark spot. 2. Take a piece of aloe vera. Apply gel of leaves on mark daily. Wash it after 30 minutes. 3. Crush one tomato and apply the paste on mark. It will lightens the mark definitly. 4. Soak cotton gauze in rose water and clean the dark spots 2-3 times daily. 4. Take carotene rich vegetable suchas carrots, beetroot and fruits- mango, pineapple, strawberry regularly. 5. Avoid oily food and high salt contained foods like chips, chinese food and non veg. * take proper sleep. Minimum 6-8 hours sleep for glowing of skin. 6. Try to reduce your stess level by doing meditation like pranayam in morning, or take long breathing on closed eyes while listening soft music.

1_ make your own diet chart of morning breakfast, lunch and dinner.
2_ add dry fruits and preparation of urad dal, milk and other high calories containing foods.

1. For increasing weight ...First we have to work on ur digestive system..It will do Aam pachan and will increase ur digestive power and appetite.... 2. Mix 1 teaspoon each of cinnamon, ginger and cumin powder with honey to make a paste. Take 1 teaspoon 3 times a day.. 3. Take small meals 4-5 times a day.. 4. Eat healthy n light food .. 5. Drink plenty of fluids.. 6. Avoid constipation... 7. Walk 1km daily in evening... 8 .Follow up after a week.

Hello, It's good to reduce weight at right time as many problems are directly related to overweight! Go through the following guidelines and implement them in your routine: Management: 1: Drink plenty of water (at least 2-3 l/d) or other calorie-free beverages. 2: Be choosy about nighttime snacks. 3: Enjoy your favorite foods. 4: Have 6 meals per day - 3 main courses and 3 snack meals (snack meals should be healthy). 5: Do regular exercises daily (start with light and later may be little vigorous) . Exercise decreases the stress hormone in your body, burns calories and also increases the blood circulation. Preferably brisk walking, swimming, cycling, skipping. 6: Eat seasonal fruits. Fruit helps to satisfy your sweet tooth thanks to its natural sugars, while fresh vegetables help you fill up more quickly. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber to help you feel full quickly. 7: Eat more whole grains and cut simple carbs. Whole wheat bread, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, sweet potato, and brown rice are all excellent sources of energy and sources of nutrition. 8: Choose lean proteins instead of fatty ones. 9: Cut the salt from your diet. Eating more sodium causes your body to retain water, which can cause you to feel bloated and gain more weight. 10: Don't skip meals.When you skip meals, your body stops breaking down fat and starts breaking down muscle tissue. Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than other tissues, so you're actually working against your goals 11: Eat at home. Going out to eat makes it too easy to cheat. Food sold at restaurants is commonly much higher in fat, sodium, and other weight-loss killers. 12: Give yourself a treat now and then. If you're attending a party or going out for a special occasion, allow yourself an indulgence. Just make sure that these indulgences don't become daily habits. 13: Go for a health walk. Gear up yourself daily for a health walk which not only shed off your extra calorie, but also reduces the stress levels. 14: Take small frequent breaks for a quick walk in between as sitting for long hours together encourages the accumulation of fat in the body! Medication: Start taking Schwabe's Phytolacca Berry tablets/ thrice daily 1/2 an hr before the meals for 1 month. Thereafter revert me back for further guidance. All the best!

Use a home made face pack of chandan+ haldi+ neem powder+ multani mitti mixed with rose water and few drops of lemon juice. Apply on face and keep till dry. Then wash off. Drink 3 litres of water daily Keep your face clean. Rub juice of fresh tomato daily once for 10 min on face. Always use a sunscreen when going out
